Bad Buddy is really the first series out of so many series I have watched that really touched and intrigued me…
As much as I am looking forward to the next episodes, I also don't want it to end... 12 episodes are just too short.

No need too long either, we don't need unnecessary drama and all. Just a few more episodes will be great enough. Hope GMMTV consider making a short sequel like how they did for 2gether (though that one was to salvage the series, I heard).

I will continue to follow, contribute and post these updates maybe even long after it has finished airing (season 2 please!!)

It’s already top among all Thai BLs as of now. And hope it will continue to go up (It should). But there is still…
Agreed. It was an amazing series on its own. I really liked The Untamed and many other Chinese series, be it period drama, BL, wuxia, political and whatever other genre they have out there.

And regarding that 1 billion folks (potential) plus many others from the Chinese diaspora (which includes me) and others across East Asia and other international fans all around the world, popularity wise it will always hands down be won by Chinese series (especially top ones).

Sometimes, I'm really just envious how some of those series could garner way above 100 million plus views in just a single day of release, when Bad Buddy here is still at 45 million after 6 full weeks of release.
(And even 2gether is still just near 600 million after almost 2 years).

EP 1 - 8,360,000
EP 2 - 6,621,000
EP 3 - 6,321,000
EP 4 - 6,054,000

EP 7 is doing really well so far after just 1 day of airing. EP 6 is also going to overtake EP 4's views soon, while the earlier episodes also showed a healthy growth over time.

(Note: This is from my own work and hobby)

That’s because a lot of shows are having 8.8-9.5 rating. All Chinese and Korean dramas.

HANG ON!!!Did you guys realize that every audition was a particular scene except Pat's..I don't think Pat's audition…
Yes I realised Pat’s part is his own words to Pran, and the best part is that performance story actually (ironically) reflects their own story.

Pat wanted to use the opportunity to tell Pran what is in his heart, in my opinion.

EP 7 is the best performing episode so far (I think), just 11 hours from release yesterday night.

Part 1/4 is close to 1 million views now, while combined it’s almost 3 million views now.

And at this rate, we’ll break through 50 million grand total for the seven episodes before next Friday!

Well done!

At a current 8.7 rating from posters, this series currently has surpassed many other very popular BL series commented…
It’s already top among all Thai BLs as of now. And hope it will continue to go up (It should).

But there is still The Untamed at 9.1 - although given the recent China series, it’s hard to decide whether it’s really BL or more of bromance.

One thing I have said back when we were still in early part of this series, around EP 3.

‘We should never judge a book by its cover’

More and more, Bad Buddy keeps showing us that this is what we must remember as we watch every episodes. There are a lot of layers and complexity, details and other things we have to pay attention to.

And he’s successful in doing that, as usual. Haven’t we been doing that for the past several episodes? 😄

Keep the comments coming everyone! One thing I like so much about Bad Buddy is how complex the characters and the story are.

That's definitely the reason why we are already close to 7500 comments as of now, which almost no other BL series ever reached throughout their series airing time. When a series kept making us intrigued and asks a lot of questions throughout every episodes, you know that it's an amazing one.

It's never too predictable and simple, and despite the usual tropes and other elements, it's fresh and revolutionary at the same time.

And here, is a place for us to share our thoughts and explain our viewpoints to each other, so all of us and more people out there can appreciate this series better! :D

The Riam-Kwan conversation being placed later on (purposefully not shown together with the earlier audition scene)…
And I am sure everyone remembered Pran's words at the rooftop:
'You and I are both tight-lipped, we will never reveal our feelings if nothing forces us to do so.'

He was so ready to confess there and then. Why is that so? Exactly because of what I explained above. He knew he had to do it and he'd rather lose the bet rather than lose Pat.

The Riam-Kwan conversation being placed later on (purposefully not shown together with the earlier audition scene) to me is very powerful.

(This may confuse some of us initially with the flow, of time and the story, but if we piece them together and re-watch, then it'll hit us differently)

The audition happened in early part 3/4, while the reveal of the conversation happened in later part of 4/4. Knowing all that Pat had said to Pran in the guise of Riam and Kwan, it certainly made how Pran felt when he rushed back to his room from the elevator, and afterwards even more miserable.

He must have been so crushed thinking that after everything that Pat had said, wanting to be his boyfriend and all (although in the guise of Riam and Kwan), everything was wasted because of what Pat heard from Pran and Wai's conversation, and the guitar (which upset Pat a lot definitely). He had lost Pat before, and his anguish showed us that he really loved Pat, and cared about him, just as much as Pat had cared about Pran.

That was why he looked soooo dejected and so emotional at the start of part 4/4. If I were in his shoes, that is how I would probably react too. And that triggered him so much that he was confrontational to Chart (the previous male lead).

(The Riam-Kwan conversation could have been shown together with the audition, but that would have revealed too much too early, when they were still in their 'game')

All of these were part of Pran finally deciding to break the walls around his heart and allow Pat to come into his life, and be his boyfriend for real. Did Pat suffer and was he upset? Of course, but as we can see, he has a heart of iron (not that he didn't suffer coz of that).

Rewatching the episode after understanding this will make the whole episode a lot more meaningful and understandable. Trust me.

What I really love about Pat's character is his determination to love Pran. Some of us may find it strange that…
Pat and Pran are both very complex characters, and understanding their characters is key for us to understand the flow in their relationship progress, their actions and more.

Not to say it's perfect of course. And regarding editing or product placement in EP 7, I find it fine as they were mostly done well and placed seamlessly into the story. A bit much maybe, but I won't complain for having more of Pat-Pran scenes because of that.

Each episodes deserve rewatching again for us to appreciate the story better. I hope my explanation above helps those who didn't quite get the flow of the story and the relationship progress between Pat and Pran earlier on (and reading between the lines and their expressions),

What I really love about Pat's character is his determination to love Pran. Some of us may find it strange that he was upset when Wai returned Pran the guitar and hearing all their conversation, and then afterwards, Pat and Pran were on the rooftop, and it seemed like he was no longer upset.

Looking at Pat's eyes, he was actually still upset, but true to his character and determination to love someone (which is similar to his character in the novel), that upset is nothing in the greater scheme of things.

His confession to Pran, veiled behind the play script lines, (Riam to Kwan) is basically him telling Pran, I don't want this game anymore, I don't want to hide anymore, his feelings, to Pran or anyone else. He was tired of it (and upset at times, remember the noodle shop scene?).

He just want to be Pran's lover, and if he needed to lose to get him, he'd do it. But true to his character as well, of course, Pat can't let go of the opportunity to do so in a big way. How many of us feels that he literally is like a superhero saving his precious one when he appeared on stage and played the xylophone?

You can tell Pran was totally touched by that. When Pran asked Pat, 'Why did you come, don't you want to win?' And we know Pat answered, 'If my victory puts my boyfriend in trouble, I'd rather lose.' Pran totally lost it, from his expressions and I felt that he knew that he should no longer play the 'cat and mouse' game anymore. He knows then that Pat was really serious about him.
(Don't forget that Pat tends to be playful, and may have the impression of not being serious)

We must not forget that Pran is someone who has a lot more fragile heart, and having experienced heartbreak and pain, and thinking that Pat liked Ink earlier on, all of these must have made him hesitant to commit. Not to forget what we all heard in the earlier part of EP 7. The moment he heard his mom saying, 'His date, not ours', he was brimming with happiness, but then, immediately after his mom said, 'Just not the kid next door' he was stunned, and you can tell that he was all broken inside.

If not for Pat and his actions, his seriousness and determination, Pat-Pran would not have been a reality. But at the same time, Pran also wanted it to work of course, and he did his share of contributions to their relationship.

I really appreciate how P'Aof change the homophobic parents from the Novel. Like he saif before, different era…
Regarding Pat's action at the rooftop, he was still sore about what he experienced with Pran and Wai in Pran's room. But his love for Pran in the end won. He endured that pain and upset for his love.

He is honestly tired of it, 'I don't want to hide my feelings anymore or to pretend anymore'. 'Can we end this game?'. That's why he chose to end that game, losing so that Pran can be truly his.

I'm taking Bets: Who from the parents will know first? My bet is Pat's father based on the preview....I suspect…
I am thinking that it may be Pat's father too. We'll see how the parents will respond. It may be the cliffhanger of EP 8 too.
