Again, choice of words. Using such words mentioned above to Nauriya does not constitute light banter. And if I remember correctly, there was also a mention of the word ‘dumb’ in one of the replies above.
It does not require any moderator to regulate. What each one of us need is respect and ability agree to disagree, as well as common sense. I think everyone of us here can agree on this.
As mentioned before, everyone is entitled to their own opinions.
However, criticising other’s opinion based on false and unsubstantiated claim or using inappropriate and even offensive choice of words is not acceptable.
I would like to offer my thoughts on the idea that the pandemic had affected the length of the series and the…
We also do not know yet when the pandemic restrictions will be lifted up, including in Thailand. Even in Singapore, where I live, arguably one of the best place to be in the world during this pandemic for the past two years, things have not gone back to normal and many restrictions still remain. I do not foresee us relaxing to a more manageable level until at least next year (2022).
My thoughts is that the main leads (Man and Title) have great potential based on what I have seen and heard in this series. All of us, them included, grow and age, and as someone who is working now, eventually, they too will have to seek employment after they complete their university.
Other well-known actors keep on acting because they kept on getting taken by other series, and that sustained them well. But eventually even them will one day stop acting. As someone who is working for quite a few years now, I know how difficult it can be to juggle work and other projects you may have beyond work.
And what does this mean? If this show's release were to be postponed or cut without resolution while waiting for the pandemic to be cleared (which may be in 2022 or even later), then time will keep moving on, and the chances for both of them to do more great projects in the future will be less and less. People may even overlook or forget this series, and by then, its impact may be lessened, having been delayed for so long.
I make this comment with the hope of seeing these two bright young buds flourish and blossom in the future. If they come to star in more series (and yes, ones that may be even better than this one), it is this series (The Yearbook) that brought them into renown.
I would like to offer my thoughts on the idea that the pandemic had affected the length of the series and the last episodes' presentation.
First of all, I agree that it is possible. However, as quite a lot of others agreed, this series and the last two episodes included, are beautifully done (well, I personally do have issues with the amount of flashbacks, but I can overlook that easily).
Let's put it this way. No one expected the Covid-19 pandemic to last for so long. I myself honestly did not expect it to last longer than a month or two back in January or February 2020. Now we are already in September 2021, and while it seems to be under control somewhat, there are many parts of the world, Thailand included, where it is not yet under control. People are dying everyday too.
One thing that this series really touched me on (it has its great life lessons too, you see?), is to value the moment, and to be brave to tell the story and truth, even when things are not at its best. Look at Phob for example, if he waited for himself to be cured before he returned to Nut and tell him the truth, he might never have returned at all, or might have ended up being killed by the cancer without the chance of telling Nut how he felt or clearing the misunderstandings between them.
That Phob managed to gather enough courage to come back to Nut, even when things are not settled yet and when he was having a stage III cancer no less.... when I reflected on this and others' thoughts on the effect of the pandemic on this series... is kind of having the similar vibes. What do I mean? That means, in my opinion I would in fact praise the production team's decision to go on and push ahead with completing this series with even more handicaps against them, showing us this imperfect and yet still beautiful product of their labours and tears.
Just as Phob dared to return to Nut to gain his happiness back, and to confess his love for him, The Yearbook team had the courage to share with us this beautiful story, with all of its flaws and great points, so we may know that it exists. There were several series, some quite hyped for, and then cancelled after a year, two or so of waiting. Some were due to this pandemic too. Glad that this is not one of those.
This is just me offering my thoughts on the matter - don't you think it does make sense?
I agree with you. Love the acting and story very much! One good thing is, it seems that there may be more to come…
You spotted all my inner wishes perfectly! Yes those things are what I hope to see materialise, and given more support, I would say, why not?
This team shows their dedication to the production and their work, and currently what is lacking is just more popularity for this series. Rooting for that potential sequel!
Imagine your friends getting a pizza with lots of toppings on it, but one that you really don't like. You didn't…
I agree with you. Love the acting and story very much!
One good thing is, it seems that there may be more to come from that ending? They definitely open the door for a sequel. So, if a lot of people come to know about this series, especially international fans, we may get it!
And yes, I want them Man and Title to star together again, in new series as the main leads (with no cancer and arm loss this time!)
same sentiment here. I feel like "that was it"? It feels like they just prolonged the story through the finale.…
Thank you! They will be releasing all in a movie style, and looking forward to that.
I hope they will continue the story after in a sequel (seems the movie director’s cut version will still mostly be what has happened in the eight episodes)
It was a very good ending for me, a happy one as much as it gets as Phob did lose his right arm in the end. But…
Regarding the ending…
It is a very obvious lead-up to a sequel/second season.
I am kind of worried what will happen to Note and Tar’s relationship, but we’ll perhaps get to see more when a sequel is really in the making and out there (hopefully soon!)
If you want more of these actors and the continuation of their story, then please support this series and spread the word of mouth - this series especially need a lot more international fans and viewers!
(Note: I really hope to see how Phob and Nut’s story continues, as Phob juggles life as a person with just one arm, and how he and Nut explores their love life together! If it means more of Man-Title’s great acting, I am for it!)
It was a very good ending for me, a happy one as much as it gets as Phob did lose his right arm in the end.
But seeing him in good health, and able to play music again together with his beloved one, Nut, is as happy as I can expect it to be, a story that comes to a full circle.
It is a story that can truly touch deep inside one’s heart, especially all of us who have that special person in our hearts, and many of us can relate to that.
Not all story are lovey dovey and blissful all the time. This story showed us that many times, love can be and will be tested by trials and challenges. However, if we believe in true love, as Phob and Nut each did, then everything is possible.
Someone like Phob who had felt like he lost everything when he heard of his cancer diagnosis, clung on to life and eventually stayed on, thanks to this love and his dedication to Nut. He was brave enough eventually to make the life-changing decision because of that love, that losing his arm is in the end better than losing his life and make Nut lose everything. And they can in the end, achieve their dreams together (in a way).
If it isn’t a beautiful story, then I seriously do not know what else is.
On the series…
Those excellent acting by Man and Title? They made the series so much better and alive, and perfectly brought the story to life. For newbie actors, they did far better than many others I know of.
And the OST? There is not just one, but five excellent OST in this series, even though it may be a short series at eight episodes. Each of them are well done, excellent lyrics and melody that blends in well with the entire series and played mostly at appropriate timing.
(I made a compilation of the links to the OSTs in the comment below and also in the Discussions section.)
Finally, this being inspired by Mean’s university era project, and his debut as a director is a wonderful piece of art. He proved his mettle as a newbie director, against all odds, and by choosing the right actors, and other decisions, I believe that he did a really great job!
Didn't realise it was the end when the credits were rolling... Basically 2/3 was the episode and the last part…
I am happy with the ending, it is as good as it gets. And I really do smell a second season in the making. It was kind of a rather obvious lead-up to it.
(And that is sort of an even happier ending - though… I kind of worried about what will happen to Note and Tar)
I've been following this series since the first week and I'm really excited to see how they're going to wrap it…
Agree with you wholeheartedly! For me, I do think that they did it quite well even with the use of repeated flashbacks. It was Man’s great narration and well-timed insertion of new scenes that helped to make those old scenes from the earlier episodes even more beautiful.
(Note: I know that they used a lot of repeated flashbacks, and this did cut down the amount of time available for more, new scenes. Do I want more new scenes? I certainly do! But I think this series, as you mentioned, has gone very well considering its handicaps the way it is. I think it is what makes it unique compared to other series.)
To me, it is just ok the way it is, and the two actors’ dedication to their roles and their enthusiasm made it the way it is, and I hope both of them will act together in other new series soon!
Counting down the hours to the finale tomorrow. I am sure all of you are doing the same too!
I have seen some of these comments before in other series’ comment section, and got it on the receiving end before too.
But insinuating that someone who commented positively on a series that you personally dislike or disagree on as someone working/paid by the company, badmouthing any of those who gave their honest opinion, whether it is positive or negative opinion, is not an acceptable conduct by any standards.
Every series have its plus points and weaknesses, and this series included. Did I have any issue with The Yearbook? I did, but to me the strengths far outweighs them. Others may think differently, and that is ok to me. We are all not going to have the same opinion, and even the most popular and best-rated, best-quality series have those who dislike because of various valid and good reasons.
But I do not condone people using harsh language just because what others said are not according to what they think/feel.
Reading this tomb-like comment section makes it clear once again that parents and friends of the actors, and the…
All of us are entitled to our own opinions, yours included, and I respect your opinion on that, as we all should do to each other. We can share our thoughts and we should be civil about it.
But I do not condone badmouthing and insulting the actors, their friends and relatives, or labelling those who post supportive and good comments here, including me and many others (implying not just here but others across YouTube and social media) as ‘paid shills’. That is taking it way too far.
