Neither the drama or the book show YaoLiu as one sided or unrequited. I don't understand why some people have…
I agree with for your reasons why this drama is so popular and well-loved. And it is possible to love two men at the same time, who are very different people and give her different things. Part of the fun of the show is watching her figure out what and who she wants.
Lost you forever 2 is that girl. I’m enjoying this drama and I would love if we all could enjoy it without bickering.…
I'm on those three ships too.....agree with everything you say here. I'd love to see this drama break more records 💜 It's so interesting and fun that there can be this many ships in one drama too.
As there is throughout. It takes a lot of kleenex to get through this drama. sniff
So is my family, lol. They are getting used to coming into the room and seeing me cry, or talking to the screen: "are you crazy? why can't you see what they are doing?" etc., or "just go to her!" or in the case of LYF, "Just say what you feel!" to XY and XL 😂
It's interesting reading your progression of feelings in these comments, as S2 has seen my previous not quite dislike of the character change to beginning to like Jing - such a clever, manipulative fox, going after what he wants (finally!), which is XY. I can respect that, as he acting to try to keep her now. His former apathy was driving me crazy earlier in S1. As all our characters have many levels to them, it is good to finally see some of his gray areas come out. All the other characters kept saying he was smart, I think it's good we as the audience can finally see it. Looking back, I wonder if in the earlier part of the drama, he was still coming out of his trauma inflicted by his brother. It was almost like he was in a daze, except when it came to XY. Sometimes, trauma comes out in appearing withdrawn and silent, which made Jing hard to read (for me anyway) in the early part. XY did bring out the loving part of him then, too. Normally I like the scholarly type, so I was confused as to why I couldn't get a read on Jing. Now that he's being more proactive, he's much more interesting.
Man, I am loving this! It's like reuniting with long lost friends. I love all of her guys because they are all…
Same for me, it's not often I can see the FL with any and all 4 men....of course I have a preference, and though it's not going to happen, I am here for the ride and enjoying every moment of it. Broodfest! awesome description!
Amongst all the gaslighting and white washing, I can't tell you how happy I am to see someone else say it. Jing…
I think you might be right, thinking about how Jing is supporting the Chenrong rebels by giving XL the funds, he's setting up for CX to come after him, and make XY have to make a choice between them. I think I just shivered....such a clever fox, operating behind the scenes....but, to be fair, this is love and war, and as the saying goes, anything goes...LYF keeps getting better, the characters are so well-written. None of the characters are all good or all bad, they are complex.
Even if he asked her the right question.....what then?? Will he give up on being a rebel general and run off with…
I haven't looked at where their romantic relationship began - was it as soon as their first underwater kiss when he saves her, in Ep 11? Earlier? It's hard to know with those two. So many mixed signals and words. They have an intense relationship, that isn't normal, so we can't use normal standards for them. They are both so traumatized, too. But when she does make a move - to kiss him in another underwater scene later, after the 15 + years are up, he deflects her. He's already decided to pull away. Maybe it was that scene on the beach that is the pivotal moment for their relationship, when there was the opening, and she says he isn't the safe kind to dream about. For which I want to say, he's not safe, but who of us hasn't dreamed about him (or any other "bad boy" type)? lol I often wonder if she said that to him, because she was beginning to dream about him, and was afraid.
I do think there is something hinted at, in the viewing of the ocean scenery, so early then in the show. Star-crossed, ill-fated couple, indeed. They make me weep so often!
I need to say this. Jing is one of the most decent people there towards Xiao Yao because he is the only one who…
Thank you so much for saying that people should separate the character from the actor - absolutely true, and this should apply in every drama all the time. I too had difficulty with Jing's character in the first season, but I never thought it was the actor, it was the way the character was written. He was so gentle and sweet, and broke that promise to her..... It's good to remember too that Jing is traumatized terribly from his brother, and is trying not to upset his family. So I was waiting and hoping we could see why he deserves her in S2. I like that I can see his cleverness and deep thinking in S2. Episode 7 was such a great pay-off between Jing and XY. I also like how his character ages and falls sick without her in his life, a quiet way of showing how much he needs her. This is such a good drama.
She is indeed very wise. I just rewatched episode 7 of S1 again with her and Xiao Liu while they were washing…
Thanks for reminding us of that scene, it's a lovely callback to it in S2 then, when she gives her guidance again to Xiao Yao. It kind of makes sense, because XY has had no one guide her on how to be in good relationships. Tian'er shows how a person with no hope (a prostitute) can turn their life around - thanks in part to XY giving her a chance with Skippy, and being a doctor. The writing in this show is so good! And Xiao Yao is listening to her both times.
I will say that this season is far more angst heavy than I thought it would be. I mean, like unrelenting. But…
I think because we are at the endgame of the drama, it's like this angsty. If we had been allowed to see all of it at once, it would be such a huge payoff from earlier in the drama. After the drama all done airing, I'm going to go back again and rewatch the whole drama from beginning to end 😄 Of course, I am watching S2 now live as the episodes air because I have to know what happens!
Ummm.....I actually love her.....she makes things interesting when she appears..like any moment she'll snap and…
I like Xing Yue too....I feel like they are showing us what it's like to be in CX's harem when he doesn't love any of them and spends his time either with XY, or obsessing over her.....a very lonely place, that harem. As Feng Long's sister, I really like her, and like how they showed how she also made bad choices, by removing herself from the picture the first time around (for marrying him), and not seeing that he never reciprocated those feelings for her. A lot of unseeing women in LYF too, if they aren't the chosen ones of their beloveds - looking at A'Nian here too.
Even if he asked her the right question.....what then?? Will he give up on being a rebel general and run off with…
to be fair though, he pushes her away so often, and lies to her about not liking her at all, how is she supposed to take a chance on him? XY would fight to be with him if she knew how he felt. Mr Nine headed demon hasn't been fair to her from the start, and it hurts because we the audience can see he loves her, but won't let her know. That 'what if' haunts all of us and XY and XL!
