I don't think a better proposal scene exists in C-drama land. It was so realistic and heartfelt that I didn't…
You can really feel how overwhelmed both of them were. They are such good actors. The way WYF kept wiping away her tears, the way SY cried because he couldn't believe his dream of teenage finally came true. One of the most heartfelt proposal where both leads cried and didn't made it cringe.
you are not alone I am literally doing the same thing...the day is almost over since it ended and am still here…
It took me so many hours to complete the last episodes because I had no courage to bid them goodbye. I feel empty and nostalgic. Like I love them but why leave so soon. We don't even have fanfictions we can read to cope up.
One day all of this will turn into memories, Every storm we faced will turn into our life's scenery"
After watching HL, the character that intrigued me the most was SY. I got to know it is adopted from a novel and SY too had a story of his own. I didn't wasted time and immediately dived in, reading the novel and I was floored. I was surprised how the SY I imagined was never a heartbroken man, pining over his first love with such devotion. It was very surprising because when I was watching HL, I could never imagine him being behind a single girl with the way he always went that he is chased by girls. I had this playboy type image in mind. WYF's character in the very first chapter was introvert, emotionally distant, tired and you can feel she had gone through a lot. It was extremely slow, especially in the novel but nothing made me give up on it.
When I got to know about the adaptation into a drama, I was somewhat disappointed with the casting. You can feel me. The novel describes them as visual couple, one who turns head around and I didn't find both of our main leads that good looking at that time. But I am also not someone who cares a lot about visuals, so as long as the acting was good , I was going to watch it. I then simply forget about it until December when a fansite posted about tentative date for the drama. I was like, it is still not out. I watched the wrap up trailer and it was good, nothing extraordinary but still nice. I felt like reading the novel and I read it so many times waiting for the drama to air.
The first frost is not a simple romance we come across. It is a test for both, SY and WYF. SY's test of his love for WYF and WYF's test of breaking the shackles of her past. SY's love is what we rarely come across in dramaland. It is the purest form of love. He loved her when she was with him, he loved her when she left him and he still loved her when she had no time for love. I won't say he had no expectations. He was desperate for his love to be reciprocated. He thought his love was reciprocated and suddenly, it was snatched away, leaving his teenage self heartbroken. He was so heartbroken that he literally fell ill. As SZ said, he never had to give any test in the journey of life, so maybe it was god's way of making his life a little hard, so that he values it.
WYF's love for SY was always hidden. She didn't had the privilege to choose love and so she did the easiest thing she could, leaving him so that she doesn't diminish his shine. She was not wrong. She had so many problems in her life, so many issues that she had no time for SY. But what touched me was that it didn't changed her feelings. You can clearly see the guilt she had towards him in the initial episodes. She thought he might have forgotten her but SY's love was too deep to forget her so easily. Her subconscious always treated him as her home, that meant that even she was not over her feelings. She just didn't had the time to sit and give it a thought. WYF's love for SY was mature and the type that she will go to any lengths, just so that he is safe. In ep 2, he was hurt. She had tears in her eyes while applying him medicines.
As Wen Yifan said, their love for each other made them a better person. If WYF didn't existed in SY's life, he might not be what he is. If SY didn't existed in WYF's life, she might never have the courage to choose herself. Her high school life will be just regrets.
I was hooked from the very first episode and while people complained that it was slow, I didn't personally felt it. Maybe because I had understanding of characters and had read the novel so many times that it didn't felt like that. I absolutely love each and every episode though, I disliked a few things too. Every masterpiece has its flaw and it has some flaws too. Some people liked some changes, some disliked it but this is one of the very very few cdramas which made me feel a list of emotions. It is now my top 1 C-drama. The way I feel that homely cozy vibes whenever I see them, I don't feel any other characters making me feel the same. The actors might collaborate again, but they won't be my WYF and SY.
The acting of the Main leads was just fantastic. The side characters too did a good job. They gave life to the novel characters. SY and WYF, you will always be loved. I hope in your universe, you are happy, prospering, loving each other, have your kids and grow old together. You both are always going to be in my heart<3
I literally wrote an essay but I don't know what I should delete, so just read it or simply ignore it:)
This was one of the most realistic and beautiful proposals I came across. 10 years is a long time and the fact that SY's love for WYF keep growing, WYF even after going through so much never forgot SY. This show just depicted a love story which just pulls at your heart strings wildly and stays with you for a long time.
I don't know why I just want to keep watching their high school times. It gives so much warmth to your heart. I have so much to say but right now, I am too emotionally wrecked. These two were not just fictional characters for me, so watching them so happy makes me feel too emotional<3
the director regardless of one or two flaws did show how much he understood the characters, really a great job.
The way SZ highlighted how WYF shaped SY's life. SY was always proud, maybe because he is intelligent, have looks and thought the world revolved around him but that heart break really made him grow so much. As SZ said, it also made him close to his family.
SZ's POV and how the break up in high school was so necessary for SY to grow as a person is such a cherry on top. The director really understands the character.
I know. I am thankful I started it while its ongoing. Binge watching doesn't give you the type of satisfaction and involvement you get while waiting for episodes, be included everywhere, and everything. I am on ep 31 and I am shocked that SY had been so sick after that high school break up.
1)is there love triangle? if there how much deep it is ?2)when do leads will be together3)is there any breakup?…
1. No love triangle though an intern likes FL. 2.Leads get together in ep 18. 3.Not a breakup but due to some reasons, FL went away so that the ML can be safe. 4.Happiest Ending.
I don't know why but whenever I see WYF's father, I feel so emotional. Like he knew he don't have much time. he looks so helpless. The actor sure did a good job being a cameo.

Cheer's to Sang Yan's parents for raising such amazing kids full of compassion, love and loyalty.

4.Happiest Ending.
These two are those characters who will stay with me forever in my heart. They really deserve all the love:)
