In the ep40 preview, it looks like little Emperor sent SuSu’s husband to protect LQ so that he can go back and clear things up. They’ll also have a final battle with QT, new weapon to weapon since QT made a “gun” too.? They should have used those 10 eps to actually develop this “weapon/book” plot instead of wasting them on the crazies.

Too bad they didn’t cut the 10 eps of GMR and ZX craziness. Now everything’s going to be crammed into the last 10 episodes and a rushed ending.

Now it makes me wonder if his mother was going to give over the book in trade for amnesty or title for his father but something went wrong. In the flashback, it sounded more like ZBN’s father was against the use of the book cause great weapons in the wrong hands can devastate the people.

Except for maybe the whining part, they stuck to his character in the novel. From the bits that I read, he hated LQ forever and became a viscous calculating character.

So their families were connected through his mother. Her father knew his mother? And they brought up a Qing GeGe that she’s close to. I think it’s a misunderstanding about ZBN’s father that the crazies are using to drive a wedge between them. In the flashback, it was more a warning than a threat. Her father said the same thing LQ said about the weapon. But ummm…instead of wasting all those episodes on GMR’s craziness earlier, why couldn’t they have gotten back to this arc. Now it’s going to be the usual throw everything together and rush the ending.

😂 Waiting to see if there are any more ways the viewers try to kill off the unnecessary crazies.

It wasn’t implied that it was their first time. He decided she was his gift instead of the sword in the box. It’s a happy ending with DD wedding based on some spoilers but will probably be rushed 🤦🏻‍♀️ There’s too much going on with all the crazies. Looks like they tried to put the whole novel in in the worst way possible and added too much side character craziness. Except instead of a “fake” Emperor, the one ZX is going to back up is the Emperor’s little brother? I haven’t read the whole thing but I don’t think he was in the novel.

In the novel, ZX becomes like the Lu Yuan character in Song of Glory and controls the little Emperor after the Empress Dowager had her turn. They’re keeping the Emperor more free thinking so LQ probably won’t replace him and then become Emperor like in the Novel.

Yeah…at this point he’s already got a wife and a couple of concubines (one died early) but this isn’t a harem focused drama so they’re probably “in their courtyards”. The focus is supposed to be on the development of Yi San/Doek Im relationship and how that balanced the stress of his responsibilities due to trauma from being his father’s son. I think instead of drama from jealous concubines, the drama is going to be from his companion/friend, Hong Doek Ro. One description I read said that Hong Doek Ro didn’t like Doek Im because he thought she was a distraction to him.

I think it’s because she’s the one that everyone gathers to listen to so if she went to read, it would capture their attention and keep them away.

😆Lol…I won’t be looking for any of her work either. I just couldn’t understand it so went down that rabbit hole. 🤦🏻‍♀️

Definitely agree that GMR and ZX ruined this show…the most delusional characters I’ve seen yet. It’s been 2 historical cdramas in a row with delusional characters. Checking out Fall in Love, Love At Night, and The Red Sleeve while I wait to ffwd through GMR/ZX scenes when the next episodes air.

I got curious and clicked on her MDL profile. It said she was supposed to replace PMY’s main role in a drama with ZZH but you know what happened to ZZH. Since this was filmed before the ZZH scandal, maybe this was supposed to put her out there before that one was supposed to happen? We can only guess. I really couldn’t deal with her facial expressions and voice when she tries to be coy.

It always made me wonder how all these Queens couldn’t have children. From some of the historical palace dramas, there was always someone in the harem being fed drugs so they wouldn’t get pregnant…kind of like what the MIL did to the concubines in Sword and Brocade. Palace politics was always crazy with control for succession.

He’s already married. Usually Crown Princes are married by age 10/11 but they don’t live together or consummate until later in age. Not sure if they ever consummated or if the Queen was infertile since she never had children. All his children are from Doek Im and another consort after Doek Im passed away.

No worries 😊. He addresses her by name and has tried to make it clear to her that she’s only like a sister and that he wouldn’t ever think of her in any other way even if he didn’t have ZBN.

It does mean older brother but it’s used in many contexts…used similar to oppa in Korean or P’ in Thai to address any male older than you. It can denote familial relationship or close personal relationship between unrelated people. Like “oppa”, it can also be used when dating between people who grew up together.

GMR likes to use it to show and remind everyone how “close” she is to him even though he’s only ever thought of her as another sibling.

https://youtu.be/v6gTcZ6hLoU I think Please Give Me A Pair of Wings showed JJY in a different role but it got buried cause of the whole Taiwan issue and Aaron Yan scandal that broke out right as it aired. She can actually do action and serious roles if given the opportunity.

All the endings in that series are cliffhangers and I heard the author of the series is known for it.

Also, LQ is usually only mad at ZBN when she puts herself in danger which being Regent and being back at the palace puts her in the most dangerous position.
