It was all the fault of script writers/editors/production team and not the actors so I don’t understand about…
Like you, I’ve never understood the personal attacks on the actors. It’s too much and I try to steer away from those conversations. As you said, that’s why when the script is bad, I don’t blame the actors. All of them have their strengths and weaknesses. I’ve seen bad actors in Thai dramas who got partnered with good veterans and completely blew their opportunity because they lacked the skills for dramas versus movies. I’ve discussed their acting ranges but have never felt the need to personally attack them. Everyone is entitled to their opinions, good or bad, regarding the work they see. I’ve personally liked some actors but disliked their work or how they portrayed a character. It doesn’t mean I like them any less, just hope that they learn from each experience to better their craft.
I think that’s how it would be for this drama. Their existence is acknowledged through conversation/dialogue…
Yeah the character list on MDL may not be complete or they just didn’t have speaking roles. From what I read, she was favored by his grandfather, was generous and not the jealous type as well as stayed away from power struggles. Her and Doek-Im had a good relationship after Doek-Im became a consort.
https://youtu.be/c_dmKVHyjQo. This was interesting even though there was a type-o on one part. The end of it also talked about the possibility of Doek-Im and her son’s deaths being caused by poison or malpractice by Noble Consort Hwa’s family member due to her jealousy. Glad they didn’t turn this into a typical harem fight drama.
Yes, the princess wants to depose yi san and to have her adopted son to become the crown princeEdit: i am sorry,…
I think there might be a twist to the story here where the script writers may have strayed from history. Someone said that it was hinted at a relationship between head Court Lady and current King so if Princess Hwawon’s adopted son is actually a love child between head Court Lady and King then they can try to claim the throne.
Historically, a lot of people tried to make use of Yi-SAN’s brothers as his replacement. Hong Doek-Ro’s real historical figure went as far as adopted one of his brothers under his sister’s name and Yi-San to try to make him Yi-SAN’s heir.
I just saw the wiki of the real concubine that's here as fml she died at the age of 33? Wth so we might get a…
I think since they focused on Yi-San/Doek-I’m relationship and how that relationship helped him find relief through difficult times, they’ll probably stop the drama at where they get together. They’ve omitted all his other wives and only mention them by name in dialogues. Even though Doek-Im was a first rank Noble Consort, she was actually the 4th person he married. His first concubine (Doek-Ro’s sister) died a year into marriage and they gave him second concubine. But even though Doek-Im was after those two concubines, he chose her himself and she gave him children so promoted to first rank Noble Consort above the others. He only married the last Concubine, Noble Consort Su because Doek-Im died along with their children. I doubt they’ll want to ruin the romanticism and throw in the others. If anything, they might stop when they get together and the do a time leap to her death with Yi-San writing about his love the inscription for the grave which I think is one of the reasons why their story was romanticized historically. Kings will write eulogies for their dead wives about their virtues but not about his personal feelings.
Spouses in order of marriage: Wife- Queen First Concubine- Nobel Consort Won of Hong Clan (would be Hong Doek-Ro’s sister) Second Concubine- Noble Consort Hwa of Yun Clan Third Concubine- Noble Consort Ui of Seung Clan (Doek-Im) Fourth Concubine- Noble Consort Su of Park Clan
should i be concerned about the outfit she's wearing? cuz yi san was very worked up to see her like that...i mean…
Yeah, Yi-San knows that anyone close to him are in danger. He doesn’t want her to become a Court Lady, especially after what happened in ep4 with his Aunt. But she becomes one anyways in the previews which upsets him since she’ll be in constant danger.
he seems to be the ambitious type. and honestly based on ep 4 i dont think he actually cares much about the crown…
Exactly my thoughts. You can see his ambition in ep1 as a child. It was in that conversation between him and CP when CP confronted him about being his grandfather’s spy as well as the lying incident. You can see his confidence as an adult that he thinks he can be in power and control the court through Yi-San. You can see the difference between Yi-San and him when he said he would have advised to let some dies before going after the tiger. 🤦🏻♀️ There’s already been instances where Yi-San has had to reign him in. It’s no wonder he hints that he wants to place his sister as Yi-San’s Consort.
Im getting the feeling that Deok Im and Deok Ro are brother and sister. He almost kills her in ep 4. She is looking…
They’re not related. He has a different sister and they were begging from their family, the Hong Clan. Ep4 shows Doek-Im and her brother when they were young so it shows her brother and Doek-Ro are two different people (compare to Doek-Ro in ep1). Doek-Im and her brother are from the Sung Clan that supported CP’s father which caused their father’s downfall/death and mom’s suicide. I think Doek-IM’s brother is actually working for CP’s mother in a secret capacity like maybe a secret warrior guard or something to protect Yi-San. In ep4, I noticed that the arrow wasn’t actually aimed at Yi-San but aimed past Yi-San towards the tiger. But it made him think that someone is secretly hunting him. Guess I’ll wait and see.
In the beginning of the first episode, when Court Lady Jo is scolding Deok-im and her friends, she mentions that…
I think that’s how it would be for this drama. Their existence is acknowledged through conversation/dialogue but since harem drama is not the focus, they won’t actually be seen.
Lee Deok-hwa gave a spoiler in the press conference lol. He mentioned that she might have had a relationship with…
That’s not surprising since all the court ladies that are assigned to the male royals can be used as bedmates. If they favor them, the male royal can give them promotions to up as high as make them one of their consorts. Especially if they get pregnant and give birth to a boy. Head Court Lady is cunning so I wouldn’t be surprised if at one point she attempted to gain the King’s favor hoping to be a Noble Consort like CP’s grandmother. Maybe the Princess Hwawon’s adopted son is actually her half brother by the head Court Lady and King? That would explain why she recommended him to Princess Hwawon for adoption. That would also explain her two-face actions. The only benefit for Princess Hwawon to depose CP is to place her one of her nephews or her adopted son on the throne as her puppet.
This drama scriptwriters are really something 🤣🤣🤣They've gone mad or drink kool aid at certain point.Like…
It was all the fault of script writers/editors/production team and not the actors so I don’t understand about the actor criticisms or fan wars. Just going to ignore that rabbit hole. I only look and read to understand the Asian entertainment industry. That’s how I learned that many of the actors don’t have a choice in their scripts until years later in their careers when they have established their abilities. Things even change after a contract is signed by established actors unless they have a say in the production or funded part of it.
I’m just going to pretend that everything between ep 20 and 38 except for the ZBN/LQ and DD/QA sweet parts doesn’t exist. The story picks up at the part where they find out about QA’s mom and take it from there. 😂. I will also add Qingke/WeiShu. Ffwd button was my friend to avoid the unnecessary and only watch if it added to plot. The only villain plot that had potential that I wanted to see was QT but that got screwed up and wasted 🤷🏻♀️
Take it light. It is that final desperate moment from fan boys and girls to try and defend this drama. Now they…
It makes me wonder if the script changed after the actors accepted. I heard that’s what happened to a few cdramas like Legend of Fei. Since they’re tied to the contract, they just have to make the best of it.
I watched the BTS where they followed the actors for a day with questions. One thing the JZ said was how I think a lot of them feel in the beginnings of their careers, that wanting to be popular isn’t to win the audience’s compliments but to get to the top of the pyramid so that they can have choices.
ZX is an a**…can’t believe the jerk tried to give ZBN abortion promoting food just to make sure she does miscarry.…
Same here. I found the eBook but it’s still in Chinese and the page translator sucks so I gave up. I heard the novel itself got really good reviews which was why they produced it into a drama but those darn scriptwriters butchered it.
Logic should be least of the concern when most of the people who comment here cannot even watch a episode without…
I watched that one too and was wondering why things turned out that way. I only get weibo news or things like that from here.
All these things should have started at least 3-4 episodes back so they could have fleshed out the massacre plot. It was wasted episodes when they put in that dumb Z girl’s part and prolonged GMR’s obsession 🤦🏻♀️ Oh well…two more episodes so let’s see if they used the time wisely. I don’t understand why they used multiple writers that split up the parts with no way to keep a plot flowing through the whole thing.

Feel the same. To me, his character is a joke now. The writers went delusional along with him. I think in the novel, he was still pissed of and hated LQ but switch his obsession from ZBN to gaining power and ruling through the puppet Emperor.
oh so li qian's mother and qing an's mother are different people
They are both friends and apprentices of the weapon master that wrote the book. LQ’s mom was the senior along with ZBN’s father and she was the junior. I knew the Empress Dowager Cao was behind the Li village massacre. The eunuch was there too and he’s the witness that directly links the Empress Dowager Cao to it.

I’m a fan of some actors and actresses but I guess I don’t know how to be a fan. If an actor or actress interests me, I’ll look up their work and watch but that doesn’t mean I’ll like the dramas. Sometimes, I find that I’ll like them in their parts but will hate the plot and direction or editing of the drama. Or hate the unnecessary stuff they throw in to give people screen time.
What can I say for Ep 37 & 38? ps: notice how fast I wrote this? aha i fast forward most of the scenes as I can't…
ZX is an a**…can’t believe the jerk tried to give ZBN abortion promoting food just to make sure she does miscarry. What gives him the right to come and go as he pleases a decide her fate? Can we have a death ending for him not exile? His delusion/obsession is way too far gone that it doesn’t matter how many times ZBN rejects him. Wonder if the writers will go as far as having ZX kill ZBN if he can’t have her like what ZWY tried to do in Female Student at Imperial College.
