The movie as a whole is nothing that very special, I mean, movies of similar quality were made in the past and they will be made in the future - I liked it though, it delivered what I expected of it (I didnât expect too much or too little), so I had a good time watching. [The premise and the theme (the submarine stuff, navy and bombs reacting to sound etc) is interesting and unique though, I havenât seen other Korean movies with the same topics in their plot lines.] But the scenes, individually, were really good (the acting was mostly really good too), especially:
I wish that the police later found Taeshikâs body off the coast, and then theyâd run a DNA test to confirm his identity (since no one would recognize the body, and itâd have been very damaged by seawater anyway, at that point). Taeshik at 12 definitely had at least one blood test done, and since he has a family etc. heâd be more cared for in those matters I guess, and his records would have been more likely to be accessible (easier that any of Sung Minâs). So theyâd match the DNA (of course, such things do not happen that quickly but after some time) of that 20-something year old man with the DNA of the (from what they knew) 12 year old missing/presumed dead boy, and the police detective would have kind of a âwait a minute, wait a minuteâŠđ€šâ moment while remembering Soo Rinâs story, and then the letâs say, half-realization (since itâs an unconventional and hard-to-believe story still) would hit him/the people.
A closure of some kind, a justification, for poor Sung Min who lost at least 30 years of his life and for Soo Rin who didnât want to lie.
The music is so annoying, the whispery, breathy vocals, like the singer is struggling to sing, I'm not a fan of…
Well, I like such songs so to each their own, but the thing is, they use the same song over and over (so itâs tiring) and the lyrics donât fit a lot of the situations when it plays, so itâs just very awkward. I guess they could have just used the instrumental of that song (if they really had to use that song only) for most of those scenes and itâd have been better.
Every time an actor gains weight for the role its always not a good idea. They just look buffy and not in a good…
Heâs naturally very skinny though, so he looks normal after the weight gain, not even buff just healthy (still lean). But I agree that some actors just donât look good after gaining so much muscle for a role.
Also! I really liked the music in this movie, it wasnât like, super special but it somehow was memorable for me and it made for a very pleasant experience along with the movie itself.
You have kiss fetish?. Likes to watch other people kissing? đ§đ€.
Nah, I just like the more realistic portrayal. A peck on the lips can be considered a more serious kiss in a youthful/pure romance high school drama, but in a rom-com or melodrama etc involving older teenagers, young adults or adults? Itâs just underwhelming and awkward (especially if the plot âhypes it upâ beforehand as THE kiss scene).
What's the controversy? Is he a married man? Has it turned out that the "woman" he was talking to is child/underage?…
Most of those alleged messages are fine, I mean thatâs how most men talk with women on dating apps or chats (itâs not necessarily classy or nice - thatâs true, most women I know donât like it but itâs not abnormal, a lot of fans have higher standards for their faves but at the end of the day heâs just a man like any other), and whether this woman here likes it or not should be their private case and she should resolve it herself (she could just ignore his messages, or share them with friends or something- to ask for advice or vent, not publicize it like this and make âa scandal out of itâ), itâs not that scandalous.
But apparently (and here I am relying on someone elseâs translation and report of this, - possible paraphrase and some mistranslations, I guess - as I do not speak Korean) in one of the messages the sender (allegedly Lee Yi Kyung) says that heâd let this woman be r*ped/heâd have this woman be r*ped by four other Korean men. And that part, well, it is controversial.
(Lee Yi Kyungâs agency has denied those allegations - that these chats are real - so far and threatened legal action against rumors)
Jung Eun Chae is a good actress, so I do not doubt her performance. And the âwhy couldnât they align the schedule of the s2 with the availability of the female lead??â questions are⊠hmm.. the second season simply wonât be the same without the FL, itâs true that itâll be like another story, but Park Ji Hyun isnât that big of a star to have whole projects aligned for her just because, the fact that they say that she wonât be a part of season 2 because of scheduling conflicts, is like a subtle way of saying that âthe actress chose another project over this one, sorryâ. Especially the second season has been announced for quite some time already. She shouldnât really be blamed, she has free will to choose this or that, for different reasons - fans can be disappointed though, of course- but why blame the whole drama production and the actress thatâs going to become the new FL (for this season)??

I really liked this one, and although it has some supposedly a bit cliché moments, they were done in a rather non-cliché way.
I canât really say more about it⊠just, itâs a good movie, heartwarming and not boring too, and I recommend it.

Iâm glad that we can share views on this drama.

Still looking good though â€ïž
