I donāt know really how to rate this drama, but Lee Soo Hyuk alone, was really good here (acting-wise etc, I mean he is a good actor, Arin was good too). At least the thing that got me interested in this drama didnāt disappoint me, ( you call me shallow if you want...) which was Lee Soo Hyukās visuals on the poster. He indeed looked good from the start to the end, so at least that I enjoyed! lol
They should have just made 16 episodes.. because the story starting in the last two episodes is baffling
honestly I thought the exact opposite while watching, that itās a good thing this kdrama wasn't released like 5 years ago because then Itād inevitably have 16 episodes that would have been too much. But maybe youāre right, that 12 is too little? What about 14 episodes?
"Seong-ah's statement about people favoring Bongsu over Gyeonu resonates deeply because it's undeniably true.…
Agreed. In that moment when she said, that people didnāt even notice that itās not Gyeonu anymore/that they didnāt miss him, it was so heartbreaking but somehow truthful. I really like his character, I believe there should be diversity in kdrama MLs.
Guys can someone tell me again what Yeomhwa's motive is for doing all of this? I know it's for her child, but…
From my understanding, she tried to make her dead baby her patron deity to not let it cross over and for it to stay by her side forever. But itās like āillegalā for shamans and it would have been a fake deity and bad for her and the baby. The ritual was stopped and she canāt do it no more, but she renounced her original deity and her spiritual mother (and has deep hatred for her because of feeling abandoned and because she did allow Yeomhwa to finish the ritual with the baby). She can use only āblack magic/dark shamanismā whatever it is I donāt know how to call it so excuse me please, because of renouncing her patron deity. She wants power and influence but also she wants to inflict pain on her spiritual mother (in revenge for not allowing her to keep the dead baby), so she looked up Bongsu and most likely fed him to transform him into and evil spirit and her āfakeā patron deity, because heās pretty old and powerful (I donāt think she knew who he was when alive and I donāt think she expected the teenage attitude lol). Sheās tampering with curses etc and is a well known shaman on social media and has wealthy clients (like Geonuās parents) so sheās doing it all to have influence/power, but also because she wants to have revenge because she was hurt. Thatās probably it, thatās mostly all I got. But what I like is, that even though her backstory is pretty tragic, which makes it easier to connect with her and enriches her as a character, it doesnāt justify her actions, she is still wrong. Sheās become sour and has done bad things for no other reason than to accommodate herself, or because she is just able to do them (like becoming corrupted with evil, because it used and took root in her weak spots).
[Watching ep 10 while writing this] I like how even though theyāve given Yeomhwa a backstory, making her a three-dimensional character, they donāt completely justify her actions.
Yes, there are many causes and effects to things, but thatās how real life is too. They donāt try to make us feel completely bad for her and forgive her just by showing her motivations, because it doesnāt change the fact that she does evil.
The fact that sheās hurt doesnāt justify the fact that she did bad and hurtful things to others (that one applies to Bongsu too, although I feel bad for him, he is stealing someone elseās life), but it somehow explains why she did them, and shows why or how she isnāt going to stop.
I like it, itās quite fresh, the way they allow the viewers to connect with the villain, without going with the āoh the villain was just hurt and misunderstoodā and ātheyāre not the villain anymore now that we know their story and all the bad things they did are suddenly explainable and acceptableā that I was afraid theyād go with when I was starting this drama.
Bruh⦠what do you mean thereās a 3 year timeskip??? (I apparently just spoiled myself) Nooo⦠I hate such time skips, and this drama was going so good! Time skips like that usually ruin the good storytelling streak, and lower the quality of a drama, I donāt want it to happen to this gem! (Iām on ep 9 while writing this) This seems like a story that deserves a happy ending, but after a certain amount of hardships. Since the writing is good so far, Iād expect it to be done in a non-corny, natural-feeling way that will quite satisfy me (as the drama has been doing so far). But what do you mean, thereās a high possibility of a sad ending??? (If itās true, it better be done in a stellar way! it better be such a good writing, like Iāve never seen before, that the sheer quality of the thing will be enough to stop me from feeling disappointed!) I hope for a great, amazing writing happy ending though!!
They should have made Bongsu evil so I can hate him. They had him killing people and had Yeom Hwa sacrifice people…
Great comment! And yes, I too was surprised by the complexity of this drama. I didnāt have high expectations going into it, but Iāve got to say, so far itās one of the best dramas (if not the best one) of this year! Do you have any predictions regarding the ending??
should i wait for all the eps o be released iām at ep 5 rnš
The final episode releases on Tuesday the 29th, thatās in about four days (depending on time zone I guess) . If youāre on episode 5 you can watch one episode a day and youāll comfortably make it to the end of the drama, or you can binge everything thatās out and wait 3-4 days for the finale. Either way, itās a very good drama so I recommend watching now, the release of the last episode isnāt far away anyway!
You're missing out on great dramas just because of your Prejudice and impatience. These type of longer dramas always…
āPrejudice and impatienceā ? Thatās quite rude. Maybe I just donāt have enough time to watch, properly enjoy and keep up with a drama as long as this one? Maybe I have work, or studies? Maybe such long dramas just arenāt my cut of tea? I admit I can be impatient, but thatās my business, why are you bothered? And Iām not prejudiced at all, Iāve seen a couple dramas as long as this one and from experience I know that 50 (or more) episodes straight is just a bit too much for me.
Anyway, there are shorter dramas with great character development etc. too (albeit probably not as many, but they have other qualities that balance it out).
youāre quite right, I wanted to express myself more lightheartedly, but looking back it wasnāt the best choice of word and might be misinterpreted, so I changed it.
Thanks for encouragement! Maybe someday Iāll watch it⦠for now, itās still too long for me š Iām also interested because of Yoon Park, I really like him.

Again, Iām so glad he gets to play main roles in mainstream dramas!

By the way, nice pfp (Li Lun šā¤ļø)
