That's all. Nothing new about the plot. I don't think it is based on a novel as well bcos I can't find it. But let me try to search again.

If only the scriptwriter followed the novel, how great would that be? FL's character is soooo good in the novel, similar to Meng Ziyi's previous role as Hua Liuli (Royal Rumours). I guess the scriptwriters had problems with the FL and the entire novel? 😡

The drama is still successful though despite the ridiculous plots and characters. It became an S level drama.

The reason of "too pretty for this character" actually happens in filming industry, not just in Meng Ziyi's case. Jennifer Lawrence was rejected to play as Katniss bcos she is too pretty. So she went back and dyed her hair, changed her clothes, returned to the audition hall, and she got accepted.

Some directors may have their own specifications and Meng Ziyi is too pretty for the character the director had in mind. That simple.

She is a great actress with great personality. Fellow actors, friends, directors often praise her acting. I never see posts of her behaving rude to staff and she maintains good relationships with everyone. Meng Ziyi doesn't have many haters in China. It's just some netizens want to slander her name.

I feel so upset bcos the FL in the novel is amazing! She is pretentious, flirtatious, witty, scheming. She always outsmart the ML. Every man falls for her charm. She is a fighter. She never tells her secrets, but she knows all his secrets (including his identity). She leaves him twice: 1. Bcos he poisoned her. 2. To save Changjue.

But the drama made FL became a weak, helpless woman. The fall from a cliff and amnesia parts are so unnecessary. She should be the chess player, not the chess piece 😡

I know the main reason she rejects him is bcos they are enemies by countries, they serve different masters and they have a lot to deal with. Also, her brother is in danger and she is the bait to lure Zaiye.

The scriptwriters really ruined such a good novel, plot and characters ☠

Most likely Wuyin. Idk either. If it is Wuxia, I'm sure Zaiye will do anything to prevent it. Especially bcos Wuxia will follow Zaiye to Beiyuan and lead the war.

There are B, A, S, S+ level for drama budget and the same level for investment. This drama got A level of investment, but the broadcast impact exceeded expectations and investment level. It went from A to S level. This is a big achievement.

Well this drama was popular mainly bcos Ju Jingyi's fans worked hard to promote it. It went from A level drama to S level. Liu Xueyi played a sweetheart role.

However there were mix reviews:
1. Zhenghe Huizi played as the FL for the ep 1 and viewers loved her, but then on ep 2 the FL changed to Ju Jingyi and viewers felt she didn't fit the role.
2. Viewers had a hard time to warm up to Ju Jingyi as the FL.
3. This is another drama that boosted Liu Xueyi's popularity.
4. Fans of both actors don't want to see them reunite ever again.

I suggest you to read comments or reviews about the drama or just watch it to see if it is to your liking. Sometimes you can't trust drama reviews due to people being biased.

In the novel, the third prince is deeply in love with the FL. But considering how many changes the drama made, we didn't know if that plotline will be in the drama as well. But the fact that the third prince is after the throne is still the same.

It is sad that the screenwriter didn't follow the novel and made the third prince became a pathetic character.
