When this series first started I thought it was gong to be this corny, cringe, total mess. The two main leads really saved it from being that, but also their part of the storyline was really well done.
Luck's whole storyline and the character himself served no purpose and just wasted screen time.
I actually really liked the final episode and love that they gave it all time to breath and just be, nothing felt rushed or left undone.
I went into watching this series yesterday without knowing anything about it. I always give a new series three episodes to decide if I like it enough to continue watching it.
I don't like musicals, overly dramatic plotlines, obnoxious characters, etc. so about halfway through the first episode I had already figured making it through the next two episodes was honestly going to come down to the two male leads being some serious eye candy... then the next thing I knew I was on episode 5 and couldn't wait to watch the next.
Yes, there were still some of the musical aspects that I skipped past, but Adrian and Eurwin had me hooked with their acting together, their chemistry, and their delivery of all the banter and sexual innuendos. lol
This series went from something I didn't think I'd enjoy or even finish to one I will mostly likely end up watching again and I'm not even sure that I can pin it down to one specific reason why. I still can't believe this is the first series Adrian has acted in, he was so natural throughout and he was able to have such amazing chemistry with Eurwin right from the start. Even experienced actors have trouble getting the chemistry right with a new partner. I really hope those two end up doing more projects together.
We all know the saying about polishing a turd....the first few episodes were the polish and now we're firmly in the ooey gooey center.
In any other series Thorn and Fah would be the side couple you forget exist after the first episode and wonder throughout the rest of the series why they waste screen time on them. The storyline for Vee X Dome X Pan would have been the much stronger one to go with for the main leads, followed by Aii X Saen and lastly Thorn X Fah (if still these two actors) or secondary couple with different actors and changes to their storyline.
Food porn filling wrapped in a cute, tasty, and lightly crispy shell is what this series is. There's nothing overly complicated about it, it's everything it needs to be, nothing more, and does it without resorting to having obnoxious characters.
When Theo and Akk are having their banter, horseplay moments Book and Force's friendship takes over the scenes and it's as natural as they really are being themselves. Then the director forces in all these awkward close, staring, etc. moments and it completely ruins the flow. This is unfortunately enhance by the fact that while Force can convey the character's emotions through his facial expressions, etc., Book just isn't capable of doing it...at least not yet in his career. Honestly the execution overall isn't that great with all the overused bl standard junk which can be easily overlooked if you have to main leads that can portray emotions like Gawin and Force can, but when they're on two different levels like Book and Force is just amplifies the cringe. We saw on Safe House that they can be naturally goofy/cute together without it being forced which just makes it all the worse. It definitely doesn't help that there's a ton of BLs so far this year that have either cut all the typical bl fluff out or kept it to a minimum and have been better for it. It's definitely not the worst of this year so far, more like one of the middle of the pack to best of the worst. It's another instance of a side character/actor carrying the series.
Personally I still can't help but feel that Luck and his storyline is not only completely unnecessary but really takes away time that could have been put to much better use.
Other than that I like the series well enough, although definitely not as much as others with a similar storyline.
Amber is going to end up being Wen-Wen, the two will end up falling in love and because of their "forbidden love" they'll be able to find the temple together since the temple was built around a different type of forbidden love.
or
they're the reincarnation of the past lovers fated to another forbidden love but this time they pull through it or not.
That's my guesses, either way really liking it so far.
I kinda agree with you, i remember after ep. 1 i couldn't understand how it make sense to have so many flashbacks…
The storylines could have worked if it was a 16 episode series, if they had had the time to set it up the way they did, but also given it more time to grow and for the viewers to connect with the characters.
I definitely agree with you about Fah, he's like a puzzle piece that wasn't cut quite right. The more I think about it, the more the whole Fah/Thorn thing would have worked better as unrequited love and Fah just being more of Thorns driving force type of thing.

I think that's the thing that irks me about this series so much, we finally get a series with more realistic problems and more mature relationships, but it only scratches the surface and is too choppy.
Knowing what happened during that break up conversation (if there was one) is something that would really change how viewers connect to the character. Did he do the right thing and have a proper conversation with her even if he obviously didn't go into exact detail on why or like you said did he just ghost her until they broke up.
That's the things that matter to the story, not numerous flashbacks to Thorn's paranoia/jealousy with Chin and Fah training together.
As far as Fah is concerned, I'm still not sure if that's a problem with the actor or with the director. He was finally starting to open up character wise and then they did the whole tryouts/break up so again like with so many other things in the series it barely broke the surface and we never really got the chance to connect with the character.
Personally I don't even think the Thorn/Fah storyline was strong enough from the beginning to be the main leading one. I think what they should have done is given equal time to all three couples, in this way they would have had a lot more time to develop all three storylines instead of just the surface bit.
A lot of these BL writers need to learn the age old saying that "Sometimes less is more" because they try to cram too much in, we've seen it with countless series that attempt to have 3 or more couples in one series.
Usually a series starts of kinda rocky and then gets better after a few episodes... This series started off kind of meh, started getting good, and is now dropping off back to meh for the last few episodes.
The transitions between episodes are definitely losing the cohesiveness they had before, and no I'm not talking about the time jumps, just the way it's been edited.
There's still no real connection to the main couple so in the end you don't really care what happens to them. I think they spent too much time on their past and too little on their present, just when they finally seemed like they getting into some kinds of groove and showing the characters personalities they bombed it.
Dome did the right thing and broke it off with Vee's sister before anything actually happened...but then they didn't bother telling her so it all went sideways anyways. Okay sure people make stupid decisions not wanting to hurt someone's feelings, but come on she even told him if she wasn't "the one" to just tell her. The storyline would have been so much better if they were honest, told her the truth, and she was fine with it, but justed needed a little time. Hell it's not like she didn't know that Vee was literally making him self sick with guilt over his feelings for Dome.
and then there's the To Japan or Not To Japan, That is the question. Just make up your freaking mind already!! It's another instance of where they back and forth it so many times per episode over multiple episodes where you start to lose interest in what's going to happen to them.
Jump, Boom, Kris, and Porsche are definitely the ones carrying the series, but it's getting to the point where it's like the only copy of the script was put through the paper shredder and then they tried to past it back together, some parts fit, others don't.
I noticed that too right away, that's not normal for these series, but it didn't seem to bother Copter though.…
I didn't know that but it doesn't surprise me in any way. Kim and Cop definitely were on a whole different level with the Mark X Kit relationship compared to the others, now we know why. I have to say though that despite their limited screen time that Bank X Bonus were a very close second with Pok X Tong.
and like I said before, it's kissing Copter...who wouldn't get a little too into it. lol
Welcome to the season finale (and by the grace of the gods series finale) of "WTF DID I JUST WATCH: Gen Y S2"!!!
On this episode we discuss:
Pok X Tong FINALLY got their magic moment... magic as in one second no balloons, next second balloons.
The producer was arrested for breaking Child Labor Laws for having their 4 year old niece create the headstone for Pha's grave... actually no, that's an insult to 4 year olds and their crafting ability
Thanu finally came out to Wayu that he's made of sugar and can't go out in the rain or he'll melt so he has to stay the night. Wayu finally decided he wanted Thanu's cotton candy stick in his....
Jack X Khao FINALLY stopped arguing if it's JackKhao or KhaoJack....they've moved on to arguing about how many licks it takes to get to the center of each other's tootsie roll pop...
Sandee finally admitted he's crazy when it comes to love....or to Phai's "dessert"
And lastly....
We finally have an answer to what melts a Kit Kat....It's a Mark coming in hot as ever.
The only questions that remain are:
Where do we get our "I SURVIVED GEN Y: SEASON 2!!" T-Shirts and confirmation that Star Hunter Entertainment will be held accountable for the cruel and unusual punishment they subjected us to for 12 weeks.
--------
This series reminds me of the old saying "How I love thee, let me count the ways" except it's more like "How can we screw this us, let me count the ways". The only problem with that is it's infinitely easier to count the ways they didn't screw it up in one way or another....and I've got nothing.
When the comment section of a series has better writing than the actual series and the commenters have more personality than the characters, you know ya done F'ed up.
