Look at the tags. Is there something that says "Romance"? This is not a love story. It's about revenge, justice/unjustice, disfunctional family, psycopath criminal, ambition, relationship parents-children, etc. Nothing about romance. Even if the main characters love eachother there is not a romantic love.
If you think a little, that woman had a very harsh and bitter life, nobody there to show love to her, no hugs, no comfort, no kindness or tenderness. Where would she learn from that in this world there is also romance and affection. The only things she knows is friendship and loyalty, from her friend and guardian. Even with that little girl she doesn't know how to express her feelings.
You ask the impossible.

The last scene so clever made: Fu Yunxi together with the deads, all in gray and blue and Hanyan with the living on the other side. He's a dead man walking, on borrowed time.
