Just finished reading the manga and this adaptation is so far so good.
Just curious how much from the manga they used in the series. There are only 8 short eps. Even the manga is also short for a manga ;), there is a lot of material in it. There are a lot of things happening there.
You asked how the country folks would view gay men, and I thought of an interview with the director of "God's…
I think people living and working close to nature tend to accept these things more easily, because are natural. I love very much the Japanese movie "His", where was the same: people living in the countryside, working the land and taking care of animals are more open minded than the bigots living in big cities that are imprisoned in strict prejudices, their "good reputation" being the most important issue.
You asked how the country folks would view gay men, and I thought of an interview with the director of "God's…
Sorry, I'm coming in between you :) About "God's Own Country", wonderful and very realistic. How brilliant both Josh O'Connor and Alec Secareanu, both straight men. You can see they burn with the passion for their trade, are able to do whatever is required to portrait the characters they have to work on. I've seen loads of BL movies/series where the actors were not gay and their acting was so poor, because were not able to sink into the soul of the characters they embodied.
May I ask something? How do you shut down your heart? Because we (I) have no control over our feelings, they come…
20 years of good mariage here and still going .
Started to watch BL by mistake and got caught. :) But I can count on fingers of one hand those which I really liked. Started to watch recently BL anime, some of them are really good, better than movies or series. My husband and my son are joking about my last movies preferences. It's my guilty pleasure. Maybe, in some past life, I was a man and gay:)
May I ask something? How do you shut down your heart? Because we (I) have no control over our feelings, they come…
You must have sent him some wrong signals and he missunderstood you. But it's great you're OK now. That one for you will come to you one day, no matter how clumsy you'd be. Every blade of grass has it's own shadow :)
May I ask something? How do you shut down your heart? Because we (I) have no control over our feelings, they come…
Thank you for replying. I really appreciate it.
I am old more than enough :) Could be a mother for the most of the users of this page. We all have our share of traumas in our lives, disappointments, tears, pains, losses, one sided crushes, sad endings, etc. It's unavoidable. Nobody can say it has had a life only on roses, even the rich and famous people. Money cannot buy everything. My son is only 14 now, I will advise him to live a good and full life without walls, no matter how hard it would be at one moment in life. The sun rises again (sooner or later) tomorrow :)
May I ask something? How do you shut down your heart? Because we (I) have no control over our feelings, they come…
Thank you for your reply :) (even if I don't reply in the right place).
Maybe he didn't want to give you a chance to confess your feelings for him because he knew he would reject you. Both of you would be hurt, it's hurting also for the person who rejects.
In my opinion, The way Pat is acting seems a bit contradictory with what he thinks. He thinks of rules and morality…
May I ask something? How do you shut down your heart? Because we (I) have no control over our feelings, they come or go just as they wish :) It's not us who want to fall in love with somebody, it just happens. It is possible to say "I will not be in love with this person from tomorrow" and ta-daaa ... tomorrow you are a new person, without feelings? Jeng is completely on another level and Pat knows, feeling himself not worthy of Jeng (it's not about social status or material situation, I don't care about these). And actually it's true. If they become a couple, Jeng has a lot of work raising a boyfriend. Jeng loves Pat's innocence and smartness but in a real life situation, after some time he would get tired. To take decisions all the time and explain them, to cope with crying and give comfort, to teach how to see behind appearances, etc.
Then, I do not really like those tropes in BL. Do the writers think, that "gay" life is just about being jealous/envious?…
The first thing to do in such situations is one of the partners in the relationship should leave that place of work. You can't be in a natural relationship with your boss, your colleagues will suspect preferential treatment which definitely would come in some difficult situations. At home you can't speak about work issues, because you'd have inside info and so on. This is why here are some "rules" like "Don't make friends at work, only colleagues", "You must not be a teacher/pedagogue for the class where your child goes", "Work is work, private life is private life", and so on. That power over subordinates is typical only in some cultures, where the boss is put on a high horse with a big sword in hand, having absolute power over subordinates. I laugh every time I watch a drama where I see people bowing for the boss, waiting for him to walk and leaving the elevator empty only for him, everybody shaking with fear, etc. Most of them are men. Respect doesn't mean necessarily to prosternate to his feet. Here the CEO eats lunch in cafeteria, sitting at the same table with the cleaning personnel if there are empty seats. By the way: most of the ministers/members of parliament come at work on a bike, no matter the weather. No fancy car, no chauffer, no escort. Here: Denmark.
I watch this show at the office hoping it will make it better since I watch it in small bits, in between projects.…
Same here. I can't watch a whole episode in 1 shot because I get annoyed by Pat. He's looking so confused all the time, afraid to speak, to take decisions, is evasive in all his actions (including in his personal life), sending mixed signals and I feel the need to shake him to wake him up. He supposed to be a grown up with some level of education. How did he pass his exams in his student years being this way? We have to think about his background, he's not planted in that office just after he was born.
"It's a slow burn. It's literally called Step by Step. You just don't understand." == Jeng/Man is hot so everything…
He's so much more than his looks. :) I stuck today my nose in his Instagram account and saw him at Roskilde Festival together with his father who is a Dane. I live approx. 40 km from Roskilde :) I like to think he's so handsome because of his viking blood running through him :) But anyway, he loves life, his job(s) and travelling with his friends. Seems like a great guy.
I really want to see a scene where Jeng gets angry. He is so calm and composed all the time. It would be hot 🥵…
Calm and in control people are a frightening show when lose control. It takes a lot to make them reaching that level. But I wouldn't wish anyone to be the subject of a calm and very composed person when bursting with anger.
This jealous girl trope in BL needs to stop.🤬 It is annoying & overly used. 🙄🙄🙄😬😬😬
And she's always evil or obsessed or a golddigger or etc. Even those only friends, without any love interest in one of the main characters are laughable, not being able to read a room, annoying, nosy, bossy, creating all sort of embarrassing situations and so on. Women in BLs are awful. And it's unnecessary. Anyway, I wish her to end up being with their boss :)
I’m four years older than my husband and we’ve been married for 21 years already. It’s really not a big…
9 and 20 here :) Still going! Some people are stuck in clichés. What about those marriages where the man is 70+ and the woman 25? There are no comments about that :))
After some years "Our ever after", when Tane is around 10 (?), a school boy (has some kind of exams, don't know the Japanese school system). Yutaka and Minoru are a couple, Minoru graduated the college, has a job that requires to travel for business. Yutaka takes care of Tane's every day needs, lunch pack and preparing him for school every morning before going to work. When Minoru comes home, Tane says "We were doing just fine without you" :)) He's like loving "Yukata" more than his own brother, he wants him only for himself, the same way when he was a little boy. https://manhuascan.com , you can find it under the name "Our dining table".
It's quite something to watch emotionally mature and moral 30+ grown character in a sea of school uniforms that…
Very true. Me too. Somebody above said Jeng is perfect. He's not, and we could see his imperfections in the first episodes. But he's mature, well educated and intelligent. And I think he has always been ahead of his age, even when he was wearing the school uniform. I suppose his father's severity made him to grow up sooner than needed. His father's expectations in him, the coldness and distance between them made Jeng the man he is. He wouldn't normally fall in love with a brat like Pat, but we don't choose the person we fall in love. :) To be honest, Pat annoys me, I think sometimes that he is pathetic. He has some good ideas but his emotional structure is not built for working directly with clients. Jeng will have a lover/boyfriend to grow up. It's not the best situation, they are on completely different levels.
got damn, the flashbacks are annoying.. its like director did not have content so filled up scenes with flashback…
Sorry, my own opinion: more annoying than Bow are they (the flashbacks) not. Maybe there is common for a girl to behave like that in that part or the world, but here she would have no friends. She's exhausting.

All the best from me. :)
I wouldn't learn to do it.

This is the first BL anime I saw and still love it. Give it a try if you haven't seen it, if you want
