This is very Wes Anderson vibes and quirky so it's really refreshing for me. I like it very much except for those…
I don't know about Korean culture regarding military humor - it has been popular in the US for ages - Gomer Pyle, McCales Navy, Hogan's Heros, MASH, etc. I don't see it harmful in they way that some dramas protray authority figures as evil.
I love this. It’s hilarious and fresh and different. There is even a bit of Wes Anderson vibe to it. A refreshingly change of pace. If this isn’t your cup of tea, fine. Just move along and watch something else you like.
Guys always rooting for Lee se young but I might end here not long in 2022 we had a bad ending of red sleeve and…
Red Sleeve based on history, so they couldn't exactly change that, but the did the best they could with pairing them up for eternity. For those of us left behind, it is a comforting fantasy.
a little more time was needed to smooth over a plot point - spoiler below
When Ester catches her husband cheating, she suddenly experiences symptoms of a miscarraige. Kang hui rushes her off to the hospital. We do not see if Ester is ok, or if her ex is told that his punching of her husband was justified. I hope we see that in more detail and those 2 get together, as they both have big hearts. As for Chun Pil, I think the sudden change in attitude regarding his daughter - is it due to anger that his wife ran off with the ML father? Will we finally learn where the heck he was when his wife had a miscarraige and then her affection for him ended? The ending "accident" did not look like a collision or severe enough to cause brain damage or a coma for our FL. The gossipy town is now turning against Yeon Su too, including his so called friends, so I think it is time to pack things up and leave, as living in the rural village will now be intolerable. As for evil mom... I can't even type my thoughts here, so the writer did a good job stirring up my anger, but gosh, I will need to switch to a drama where the parents are good people. :-(
I enjoyed it. Sort of a Korean version of the Godfather, in that the ML works to build a life from the bottom up to achieve his dream of being at the top, via classic organized crime method - not that much different from stories in the US and even Korea on organized crime. As the saying goes, keep your friends close, but your enemies closer. Certainly not boring if you are watching the progression of building power
Can anyone explain why the rating is like this in their opinion?I'm debating on whether I should watch it, hah
this as well as many dramas of late really pile on early a negative FL character. Usually the arc or explanation kicks in to soften us up to accept and understand the character, but this drama had that very very late, and at this point it is really hard to embrace even if we understand. It is a trend I hope goes away, because I love a redemptive arc but heck, this is really challenging, even though I adore the cast and their acting.
Another secretly problematic K actor.Too many famous men are secret creeps." Upon realizing that the account is…
rather harsh judgement for merely voting in a poll. Do you realize how many polls pop up in our feeds? Are you sure you have been as super careful with each and every like or vote? This level of perfectionism is toxic, and in some cases, deadly.
I am one of the very few who liked these last 2 episodes. The chickens are coming home to roost as to the trouble their wandering hearts have created such complications. Kong Ryong has an honest conversation with his fiancee, and although it breaks her heart, when her dad calls all the shots as to blocking his career, then having him sent on a selfish mission, the ML character is acting out trying to pursue what he wants regardless of all the controls put on him, leading to serious consequences.
As for Eve, yikes. Her man risked his life to save her, but, can any relationship really survive that sort of betrayal? Aside from the soap opera aspects of this plot, I found the action heartpounding as to being stranded by debris strike (a very real fear I have since the movie Gravity and reading about all the junk up there from so many satellite launches) as well as your classic time countdown on survival, to the action related to rescue efforts and the anxiety of loved ones, and a nation watching.
The humor associated with getting used to gravity again was funny. Little details like simply dropping a water bottle because of the expectation it would keep floating, other details.
The greedy old man maintains his greedy old man behavior, with that classic wicked laugh. He is so bad he is funny.
I am torn. I really dislike the FL, still love the 2nd FL, and that they wait this long for the big revelation. That they whole town knows and how it impacts the kids. And I wonder - it is like friends but not friends with their classmates. And yet, I am softening up on these two, but at this point, each should start off clean with a new relationship with other people, without the ton of baggage attached, which will never go away, because that is one messed up family history.
I don't know why this is rated so low, but no matter... this is a well constructed sageuk. It is so well produced and I love this cast. Yes, it has the tropes of concealed gender, palace politics, scheming to get the throne, etc., But I love how this plot is different in that much takes place OUT of the palace, in a mirror experience so to speak. So different and yet alike in terms of what is done to obtain, retain and use power and wealth. Yes, we have a love triangle, and a high stakes one at that. There is revenge, love, unrequieted love, friendships tested. I really look forward to the finale next week.
They threw everything including a Christmas tree at this finale, which the dialogue felt forced and awkward. As for the PPL, I feel bad for Tiffany. If a ring can't get it done, then, not a very good endorsement is it? I will say that Lee Ki Taek as Chris touched me more than I expected. He really did well with that character.
He’s not there. He’s in jail. If you mean her husband he was not working when she was fired. If you mean the…
in ep 11 he was supposed to be fired. He was still calling the shots. That was yesterday when I posted. Today's finale, He didnt go to jail until episode 12 - after Chris went to the police. I see in episode 12 how it all wrapped up.
I am not buying the redemption arc for FL. Also if shareholders fired CEO why is he still there? There is a lot to wrap up tomorrow. I have a feeling it may be less than satisfying. We shall see
What a tense episode - plus the redemptive arc, apology, etc. Reminded me of the tension from Gravity movie. The ending song by Jin! OMG so gorgeous!!!!
At least the SFL knows her place (in a nice way) telling the ML to go and tell the FL how he feels was nice as…
I feel bad for the SML as he already lost out to his first love and now he is hooked on the FL, and he needs to find someone who will appreciate him. I like the 2nds in this drama so I guess I got too attached myself - LOL
