I heard some gossip that they had to bring him back quickly to keep the investors on board. Hopefully, a decent compromise has been reached.

My observation is that for high profile dramas, there usually are fewer leaks. It also depends on where they are filming. Some outdoors scenes seem difficult to shield against paparazzi.
That being said, I’m sure we will get some good leaks later on.

Well, I hope whoever cobbled together the production team’s statement isn’t in charge of the script, because there are serious problems with their logic reasoning skills.
IF, as they claim, the script and makeup/styling are just preliminary versions, wouldn’t Yang Yang be the first to know? However, he posted a rather angry sounding statement earlier the same day saying that these issues had been raised with the production team, but he hadn’t received a response. It was most likely only his threat to withhold promotional support for the drama that triggered the reaction from the production team.
Also, didn’t Tencent publish new guidelines last year that stipulate that the script for all big budget productions have to finalized before filming commences?
The fact that the supposed female lead, Zhou Jieqiong, received 4th billing behind two relatively unknown youngsters further shows that the 2nd and 3rd male leads are given undue weight in the whole setting.
I’m by no means a fan of Yang Yang, but the bait and switch manoeuvre enacted by the production team is a nasty industry trick that could hit anyone. It is only right for all fandoms to unite to call out these underhand tactics.

Well, they can’t seem to get it right. Before everyone except the leads was listed under support/guest role (as the comment above suggested) which is completely wrong.
There are quite a few “special starring”, “friendly starring”, etc. descriptions in the official announcement and it is hard to understand what they actually mean. In some cases we will have to see the end result to know.

There are the leads and four actors listed under 领衔主演 which translates as “leading role”, ergo these are main roles, not supporting roles.

Me too. I really don’t understand why they don’t do anything to improve. Their software for the machine translation must be very old as by now you can get a better translation on any machine translation website. They clearly have an ambition for overseas distribution of their dramas (currently the only growth area for C-dramas) so letting the audience actually understand what’s going on should be the first step…

The subtitles will only be changed (“translated” from Mango gibberish) if the drama gets picked up either by Viki (you can make a request on their website) or by another platform.

That’s an explanation (even though the “significantly more influence” is debatable) but I don’t think that it is right.
It’s a female-centric IP and if those big male egos cannot deal with equal or second billing, then they should move on to some male-lead IPs.

I think they are making these announcements deliberately confusing. I got “tricked” before on another drama, that’s why I now always double check.
I saw some rumours saying that it could be released on 26th February which sounds plausible (Mango often announce dramas 1 week before the release date).

Are you sure that this is the release date of the drama?
The way I understood it is that they will release new material (OST, etc) on 21st, but not the drama itself.
