I don’t think this has anything to do with chauvinism, but all with realism.
People actually fighting in battles don’t look pretty, they sweat, their hair gets messy and their outfit disheveled. Any makeup they’re wearing will very likely be smudged or running and get mixed with the blood on their faces. The excessive need of these idols to look perfect in every shot rather than concentrate on acting the role is quite ridiculous.

That scene in the hut could easily be shot in a studio, no need to go outside.
Same for most of the scenes on the boat.
A studio set will be much more efficient and time saving.

Very likely in the second half of 2027 at the earliest. Costume dramas usually take at least 9 months of post production (due to martial arts scenes and CGI work) and then there is the review process and the scheduling by the platform. So it won’t be fast.

They are only about halfway through the shooting cycle. Filming started on 25th January and should last for 120 or 130 days (I cannot remember exactly), so they’ll probably wrap around the end of May or early June.

Looks like there will be more outdoors shooting tomorrow (28/03): I see Nan Yi, He Ping and Zhang Yuehui on the plan… not sure about others.

I think they may slightly change the role, maybe bring forward some of the info about his relationship with the princess that we only learned about at the end in the novel and some of the more unsavory details won’t make it into the drama anyways.
He will still be the villain, but this being Jeremy, he will give the character a more relatable side and depth.
I for one will never hate his characters, no matter what they do 😇
