The FL kept saying aunt to the stepmother, but I realized it wasn't actual aunt but stepmom until now when i watched…
In my understanding (Chinese speakers, please correct me if I'm wrong) "aunt" is a respectful way for addressing any older woman. It does not necessarily mean this is a relative.
If the 6 main leads can act well together it should be fine. It would be worse if there were two alternative endings because the director can't make up his mind.
Comparing with other dramas currently airing, namely, My Uncanny Destiny, it seems that the cuts are particularly…
The problems with the narrative cannot be solely blamed on cut scenes. It's sad to say this but I have absolutely zero confidence in this scriptwriter (she's the one who butchered The Blue Whisper...)
The decision to turn this into a comedy is one of the most idiotic scriptwriting choices that I have ever seen. Given how the drama was promoted in the trailer it is bound to disappoint people who were looking forward to a dark ML with its permanent bouts of silliness.
If the insane amount of romantic scenes and kisses cut from this drama is a sign of what's to come in terms of…
Comparing with other dramas currently airing, namely, My Uncanny Destiny, it seems that the cuts are particularly fierce for this drama. Maybe due to the problematic subject matter (relationship btw eunuch and concubine).
It is also entirely possible that some of these supposedly "censored" (and then leaked) scenes were never meant to be in the final version of the drama in the first place and are just used to drum up interest. Yes, some people in this world are that cynical!
So I wouldn't worry too much about future romantic dramas.
honestly, you have high budget dramas that are boring af but this low budget one is amazingly addictive and fun.…
Absolutely agree. This one really goes a long way with little means! The rabbit scene made me cringe, too. I’ve noticed that in the more recent dramas the horses look at least well nourished compared to a few years ago. What still jars me a lot is the way they pull on the reins like crazy people to stop the horse. My horse would buck them off immediately 🐎 being mishandled like that!
Yup. I was explain about these sensitive things to someone here. But that person was very ignorant. She kept saying…
Yes, some people fail to see things in their historical context... I see a lot of complaints about women not being gutsy enough in many dramas but the truth is that a modern-minded female would probably not have made it beyond her teenage years in ancient China. Even though I really dislike the demure/silly female trope there is a limit as to how far a historical drama can go to cater to modern tastes before it becomes a farce.
As you rightly said, most of the tropes used in xianxia (like love btw demons and gods, ML/FL having to choose…
LOL Jesus may not the best reference when it comes to plagiarism, though. That virgin birth was copied from pre-existing pagan mythology and Dionysos, Baldur and Co. want their money back!
Actually first let's not even assume the author has committed plagiarism. The arguments made are quite weak. There's…
As you rightly said, most of the tropes used in xianxia (like love btw demons and gods, ML/FL having to choose btw saving the world or their loved one, dead leads coming back to life, etc. etc.) are very common and cannot be considered plagiarism. The value added by individual authors usually lies in the storytelling, their style used for telling a story is what can make a plot captivating or boring. People who wait to bring forth their plagiarism claim until the supposed "copy" has gained popularity are usually nothing but attention seekers. I remember there were similar claims regarding the novel that was used for 3L3W10Miles of Peachblossoms, but it didn't stop the drama from being aired and becoming a success.

I feel so sorry for the best assassin in the world...
