Guys, my heart ached for Immortal Master. Nobody caught him when he fell from the tree in ep 26 omg 😂…they…
Should an immortal master really be so clumsy to fall off a tree? These guyscan generally jump straight up on rooftops or fall off cliffs unharmed with their awesome lightness skills so a little tree shouldn't be a problem...
I am waiting this drama to be completed before i binge watch this one 🥰😋So far so good? Chen Yu Qi acting…
I'm getting a bit exasperated with her acting... I can just never tell when she is fake acting in front of the ML and when she is being sincere. It somehow all comes across as fake... There's absolutely no subtlety in her facial expressions. It's not so bad that it ruins the show (that seems to be the censors' job...) but it certainly isn't great!
My goodness! I hate the censorship!!!! They cut ALL THE ROMANTIC SCENES in this drama! ALL the skinship and intimate…
And it's not only the romantic bits. They're also omitting some very important background information that would add some more depth to their characters. I mean, if you can't show two thirds of the content of a novel, don't touch it! This is no longer an adaptation, but just some weird made-up stuff from the script-writer's lousy imagination. Neither fish nor flesh!
I’m just waiting for these huge age gaps with kids in their early 20s being paired with 40 year olds to end…
It certainly would improve the acting quality tremendously! And maybe it would also curb some of the nonsense plots the directors/screenwriters keep making up as more experienced actors tend to question them more.
Honestly, I would love to see Jeremy Tsui paired with more grown up actresses (even though in the context of this particular drama it wouldn't make sense...) It can't be fun acting with all those little girls but it seems hard enough for a 30+ male actor to secure lead roles in a xianxia, it seems near impossible for any female actresses.
I read from the Chinese forum that those lantern look more like Japanese bar lantern. Japanese lantern is white,…
I understand what you mean. However, racism is a problem that can only be resolved by changing people's attitudes, not by banning words. Besides, I think there is no race that hasn't been called monkey in one context or another. It definitely isn't targeted solely at Asians. In Europe, it may even be used for overly hairly men...
I agree, majority of dramas have 3 pairings. I find her pairing with Wang Hedi' Eunuch is a weak pairing.... Neither…
The only problem with this is that this isn't supposed to be a comedy. The original novel has quite a critical view on many socially relevant issues of the period, such as human sacrifies, abusive relationships, feet binding, the low status of concubines, etc.
I think these problems are due to bad script writing. The FL's character has been changed a lot compared to the…
Sadly I don't speak a word of Chinese. I did a machine translation of the novel in English. It was very difficult in the beginning but after a few chapters I can understand most of it. My reading progress is rather slow as sometimes I have to read a paragraph 4-5 times before understanding it or use a second translation tool. So I'm only on chapter 14 (of 100), but I'm totally hooked because it is so good! One scene that I found remarkable to portray him as a scary guy happens after the hanging of the Tribute Ladies. The FL didn't use any tricks (I mean, cutting the rope, did she expect they let her live??) but when the officials check all the bodies before closing the coffins they find that by a fluke of nature she has survived. They call in the ML to ask what to do about it and he actually suggests to just close the lid of the coffin. Once the air runs out, problem solved! He says this right front of her! Even the officials are shocked. Then, sometime later, when she complains to him about Prince Fu's advances (who is just a womaniser, not a romantic fool) he says to her, What is your problem? Once you know what it's about, you probably can't get enough of it. That shows his rather negative view of women (probably based on his experience with the Empress...). So there is still a long way to go for any romantic feelings to develop...

True. There are just too many tragic things happening to mix in any comedy. Her being afraid of the ML is just another of these inconsistencies that are created because they omitted the key events that would justify her fear. I mean, other than everyone saying he's a scary dude he hasn't done anything to her.

I think the deleted scenes add to the confusion. They aren't the root cause. The censorship obviously ruins a lot, especially for this drama where many of the important points raised in the novel can't even be spoken out. Just to give you an example, his obsessive hand washing isn't due to having to comb the Empress's hair... but having to deal with other parts of her body. When the FL hears the rumours she kind of feels sorry for him and at the same time she is puzzled (being an innocent girl) and intrigued. All these wonderfully complicated feelings have been replaced by stupid jokes and rocking a pear tree with brut force (it's not even romantic!) I find this very disappointing.
In a nutshell, I'm here for Wang Hedi and his gorgeous looks. Fullstop.I can't for the life of me understand the…
I think these problems are due to bad script writing. The FL's character has been changed a lot compared to the novel, so there are bound to be inconsistencies. I really don't know why they forced in the "comedy" tag. The overall tone of the novel is rather critical on what's happening so it would have been good to reflect this in the FL's inner monologue rather than turning her into this wise-cracking, annoying person.
the scriptwriter which is li jing ling is fumbling her own bag again, btch when I catch you. she don't know how…
Yeah, I'm afraid of that too. I didn't like the way she bungled The Blue Whisper. Loved the book, but had to give up on the drama, partly because of the mis-cast ML, partly because of the script bonanza.
It's 3 days before 2023 starts....Let's share your fav dramas you watch this year. For me. Since I almost exclusively…
I think generally speaking 2022 was only an average year for costume dramas... Yes, Dream of Splendor was good (would have been better w/o the misunderstanding trope dragging on-..) and so was Love Like the Galaxy (slighly ruined by cowboy-style editing). For me the best surprise of 2022 was Be My Princess (modern drama with costume elements) - it made me laugh a lot!
I never liked Chen Yu Qi/yuki chan acting after her first role. At first she showed lots of energy but they put…
Yeah, so far she's quite good in it. Although I must say that in episode 4 the FL started to seriously get on my nerves with her supposedly clever babbling. Trying to show off like this actually makes her look childish and stupid. This is not due to the actress though, but due to the way the role was written.

That will need stellar acting to make up for it!
Wishing all fellow clowns across the world good health and a long life so that one day you may enjoy watching Immortality.

Have you seen "Legend of the Phoenix"? He is amazing in it!

That's quite offensive to monk"es!
