Yes, that's what I mean... He "shows boundaries" which sounds nice and upright, but in the novel it looks more like he dropped someone he was intimately involved with like a hot potato once she was no longer useful. Knowing about their rumoured relationship makes Yinlou wonder if he will do the same to her as well. These are layers of complexity which are completely lost in the drama.
If it's an average women's handbag that would be: purse, keys, tissues, make-up, 1st aid-kit, matches, screwdriver, spanner, torch, scissors, muesli-bars and an apple.
Why is the Empress so obsessed with XD? Does she know heβs not the real XD or something?
In the novel she is obsessed with him because was her boy-toy and pleased her in ways that cannot be shown in the drama (hence the obsessive hand-washing...). Due to the many many changes they have made in the drama version some plotlines have become distorted and no longer make much sense.
So they have 2 ending just like Legend of Yunxi. Episode 39= 1st ending = Sad ending Episode 40 = 2nd ending =…
That sounds like a really lazy directing choice. Just make a decision and own it. People who try to please everyone usually end up disappointing everyone instead.
Could be worse... he could be Zheng YeCheng who also never manages to get the girl...it's really depressing!
No, I mean Zheng Ye Cheng. Love of a Thousand Years - he died An Oriental Odyssee - he died The Sleepless Princess - she becomes a vegetable, they both die (unless you watch the extra with an alternative ending) Mirror: A Tale of Twin Cities: she likes someone else
Badass warrior female - you'll like her! The ML is supposed to be this ethereally beautiful but aloof high-god. I haven't finished the novel yet, because the English translation is still ongoing, but so far the story is good.. Especially in the beginning it's quite funny.
Interesting theories....However, I don't think that Empress Rong An can be behind the murder of XD's brother because…
Yes, by our modern standards he is definitively a psycho and I would run a thousand miles if I met him in real life. However, this drama is set in a period where it was perfectly normal to: kill dozens of concubines because the emperor died, skin corrupt officials alive, beat servants to death, mutilate children into eunuchs (many of them died during the procedure), mutilate noble women's feet so that they could barely walk, etc. So the bar for what is unusually cruel behaviour is set quite high... XD is supposed to be this callous official who everyone fears (his main focus may be revenge, but he is prepared to get it by any means necessary). This fear needs to be "earned" somehow. We don't see him do anything in the drama, which makes him rather unbelievable in my view.
I loved the first episode and somewhat the second episode. However, I am on the fifth episode and.... for me,…
The trailer promised a dark and serious drama, so the comedy elements are unexpected and feel out of place. Most of the time it's not even funny, just silly.
I've watched the first 12 episodes and I'm quite disappointed by the script. I think the story had so much potential…
Yeah, they conveniently evaded some of the more sensitive issues that are raised in the novel, which I feel is quite critical regarding the status of women in the palace, the whole system of the eunuchs, abuse of power, etc. As they wanted to turn this into a comedy the story-telling has become a lot more shallow.
I'm generally easy to get along with, just don't p*ss me off... π
