No, I’m also waiting for the subs… gives me some time to finish reading the novel.
Yes, the novel is quite well written. It is quite serious, but has some funny bits, mainly in the form of sarcasm. The relationship between the ML/FL is completely different and the actual romance is very, very slow. There is a lot more happening than just the West Canal collapse, with many interesting side characters. I’m going to write up a summary of it once I’ve finished reading/ watching so that there will be a real comparison. I agree with you regarding the promotional trailer. It really made me fear the worst. I hate slapstick comedy!
I have ‘Flame’ (because of Jeremy Tsui’s guest role), Legend of Shen Li and In Blossom (rumored to drop…
I watched 4 episodes but then dropped it. I just cannot stand dramas where all the action takes place in barely lit rooms with everyone wearing dark colours. It simply was too strenuous for my eyes.
There will be “Flame” some time this month. It’s a Wuxia with Jeremy Tsui in a guest role so I will be giving that a try… Also, on 18th March there will be Legend of Shen Li. It’s a xianxia. I read the book and I have some serious doubts regarding the casting of the ML (absolutely nothing about him says otherworldly beauty as described in the novel), but I will still watch a few episodes to see what they made of the story.
Until then, I will probably watch some short length dramas or catch up on my long list of dramas to watch…
I don’t get how the rating system works! Every episode has been rated over 8, but the overall rating is less…
I think at this point, nobody gets how it works and how a few antis can mess up the rating despite the majority of people being very positive about the drama. I guess there is an automatic deduction of points for the lack of idol boys… 🤬
The FL's acting is so bad it almost makes this completely unwatchable....
Ah, it wasn’t THAT bad. I’ve see a lot worse! It sadly is detrimental to the quality of Chinese dramas that people are cast for main roles based on their popularity instead of acting skills.
It's a shame that charismatic actors with amazing acting skills weren't more IN, only the same-looking boys with…
She is good and I like her acting but she is one generation too young forJeremy. Also, her fans are a bit hysterical and I wouldn’t want to see Jeremy insulted by any of them because of the age gap. I think someone like Lui Shi Shi would be better suited. She is great with martial arts roles, looks good and, most importantly, she can act.
It depends on what you like… it has a bit of everything: funny scenes, romance, suspense, great fight scenes and some characters that you will really hate. The acting is great overall.
😂 I’m a staunch follower of TCM but I can confirm that the pills or the medicinal soups usually take anything…
For acupuncture it really very much depends on how skilled the practitioner is. There are many conventional doctors over here in Europe who just did a 4-week course and then claim they’re doing acupuncture 😂 On the other hand if you find a Chinese practitioner, you’d better not be scared of needles because they will stick them anywhere! Apparently, patients in China don’t complain…
I don’t know if this actor has any chemistry with his FLs. I’ve watched another drama with him where there…
It really depends on the actress. He had great chemistry with his FLs in Royal Rumours and in The Autumn Ballad. In this one, I had a lot of doubts because the FL is yet another starlet with little acting experience, but they are actually quite ok together.
Just a funny observation. It seems chinese medicine is very efficient in a way that a person feels better when…
😂 I’m a staunch follower of TCM but I can confirm that the pills or the medicinal soups usually take anything between 30 min or a few hours to take effect. You can, however, achieve some instant results with acupuncture depending on the specific problem. I once had a neuralgic toothache that couldn’t be treated either by the dentist nor by painkillers. I received one acupuncture session and within 10 min the pain was gone, never to return.
He should be protected, those people are crowding him
He generally has the nicest fans and it is pleasant to see his interaction with them. That lady with the dog came to see him every day on another film set because he loves playing with the dog. As long as everyone remains respectful, there is no need for using security guys to create a distance.
There's no way I'm gonna watch a drama that worships marxism and communism. Why was this even made? It's clear…
How many died in the Highland Clearances? How many when the settlers arrived in the Americas? The conquest of the West is glorified in many Hollywood westerns, whereas the reality was the brutal slaughter and displacement of the native population. And the denial of these crimes continues to this day. Yet I don’t hear anyone complain about that… Western imperialism is just as bloody as Eastern communism.
I’m going to write up a summary of it once I’ve finished reading/ watching so that there will be a real comparison.

She is a a bit childish in the beginning, but it gets better as her character has to grow up quickly.
I think someone like Lui Shi Shi would be better suited. She is great with martial arts roles, looks good and, most importantly, she can act.
