Yes he has some strange dreams where he relives moments of his previous life. In the novel this knowledge of future events also helps him unravel the underlying conspiracy. He uses his knowledge to change events because his previous life the FL left him and he died alone at a young age.
Looks like I get my first mandatory Jeremy Tsui fix of 2024…of course due to my lack of emotional intelligence…
I think it is quite safe to assume that this one will have a happy ending. The novel does and I don’t think that they will change it in the drama version.
How’s this thing so far? I’m watching two others and am on the fence about starting this now. May wait; is…
No, that first trailer with the slapstick was a clear misrepresentation. So far there have been no misplaced attempts at humour. The pace is good and the story looks interesting. The tone is serious, the FL is feisty and the ML faints a lot. It seems that fainting is the new blood-spitting 😂
Why does this have such a low rating? I watched the 4eps and this has a decent storyline. The acting in it is…
Only a few people who supposedly dropped it (or never even watched) rated so far and some weren’t ashamed to rate it very low. Also, the ML can act but he isn’t a little idol-boy with a plastified face which seems to be the current favourite to drive up MDL ratings.
After watching three episodes, here’s my first impression…
It’s entertaining! Overall the acting is good (FL turns out better than expected…) and so far there are no annoying characters. Of course it could have been even better if a certain person had spent some time in the dubbing studio… I like the way the FL’s character is written even though it is quite different from her character in the novel. I actually cheered when she hit that deputy minister Xu over the head with the bottle. All the heart cramping and fainting feels a bit much, I hope they’ll tone it down in the coming episodes. I’m glad so far the drama turns out to be a lot more serious than the initial slapstick trailer suggested, even though ep. 3 had a few hysterical moments. Did they have limited budget or why is Lu Shiyan wearing the same light-blue robe in every episode? There are quite a few changes from the novel, most importantly, Shen Zhen has lost a sister and her little brother. I don’t care much about the brother but the sister would have been important for part of the plot. The OST is quite pleasing, especially the ending theme.
yesterday I happened to stumble upon a cdrama -yet to be released- which has about 20 !hic! screenwriters and…
Haha, 20 screenwriters and then they still just piece together the same lame old tropes as usual 😂😂😂 I’d rather one person writes something decent (for example the novel author) and they stick to that.
Why blame the actor? I’m sure he would also prefer to be cast with an actress of his age and acting calibre…
Yes, I’m annoyed by this because it is a recurring comment. It’s bad enough Jeremy gets cast with these newbies , only for people to complain about the age gap.
Why blame the actor? I’m sure he would also prefer to be cast with an actress of his age and acting calibre…
Saying he looks like her uncle implies he’s too old - saying she looks like his niece implies she’s too young. There is a difference. Yes, I may be a tad overly sensitive to this because I’m getting sick and tired of the obsession with age that gets actors/actresses accused of being too old as soon as they’re past 25. If people cared half as much about acting skills we might be getting better dramas.

Yeah, ageism is rampant here on MDL. I get it that many viewers are very young, but why would they only want to see actors of their age group? WhennI was a teenager I had many favourite that were of my parent’s or even grandparent’s generation. There is no age in good acting. I think his make-up here is much better than in some of the previous dramas. When I saw some early shots I feared the worst, but the face-smoothing/whitening is actually still quite bearable. The fact that he looks much younger in a modern setting is probably due to the hairstyle…
Too big age gap, he looks like her uncle. His character is also that older than the FL? If not it was very miscast
Why blame the actor? I’m sure he would also prefer to be cast with an actress of his age and acting calibre instead of yet another starlet trainee… In the novel the ML is 24 and the FL is 16 so both of them are cast outside of this age range.
Reportedly the FL has been taking acting lessons for this role… Let’s hope they weren’t a waste of money…There…
No, not at all. This isn’t a revenge drama, more political intrigue with some past-life mystery thrown in. The ML finds out that she married another guy in the past life, but he knows that it’s because he treated her badly, so in this life he is trying hard to win her over so she doesn’t leave him. I don’t know why she stabs him in the first life, this bit wasn’t in the novel where he died of poisoning (and a broken heart) in the first life.
