He sounds dubbed in the trailer. I recognise the voice actor but can't remember from where XD
I still have some hope for Love of Nirvana…

Yes, I agree. I don’t mind if they have to change some things, but I hate it when they mess up a good novel.…
Yes, the original translator stopped after ch. 51 which is a real shame. Someone posted under ‘recent discussions’ that there is a new translator on Novel Updates. I had a quick look and saw that for some idiotic reason (ego?) this person started again from the beginning. I’ve seen this translator ditch novels mid-way without warning so I have zero faith that we will make it to the end.
I have started with my own translation just for myself which is MTL with some edits, but there are sentences where I can’t really work out the meaning because I don’t know Chinese and the machine just gives me nonsense. Also, because I’m editing while I’m reading it’s going rather slow and I’m only on ch. 60.

i came here, to write the same, though i could not pinpoint, why i like the first 12 or 13 episodes more, than…
Yes, the 2nd season has already be filmed. I guess it’s one of those dramas where they had to cut it into two parts because of the new rules limiting th3 number of episodes.

Does this drama have wuxia scenes?
Yes, it has some really good fight scenes with the ML. If you like old-fashioned Wuxia without CGI you will enjoy them.

That summary doesn’t seem quite accurate (unless they made considerable changes to the novel). Shen Ran (the 2nd Shen daughter) is already married so no longer part of Marquis Yunyang’s household.
The two who end up on the streets are Shen Zhen and her little brother.

It’s in the dream he has in chapter 51.

Here is a copy of the passage (I’ve edited out some of the juicier parts):

When he had seen her in a wedding dress, seated in front of him like a shy bride, he had moved forward like a famished beast and kissed her madly. Fascinated, his resolve. broken, his desire whipping him like a cruel master, he had finally let himself drown in the fragrance that emanated from the crook of her neck.

He had wanted her.

….

…. He had believed her to have felt pain. It had been her first time after all. However, he had been wrong. Her tears never stopped, from night to morning. The moonlight dissipating into dawn, he had turned her face and asked the most humiliating question of his short life, he who had never suffered the smallest slight, he who had seen numerous women desperate to catch his eye.

“Was it because of Shen Hong?”

She had not answered him, only thanking him repeatedly. Every mark of gratitude had cruelly stabbed, not Lu Yan’s heart, but his self-esteem. He had known at a glance that she had not been willing.

Yes, I watched Stange Tales and I loved it. The dynamic between the two leads takes some time to develop, but it’s worth the wait.
I tried reading the novel behind TTEOTM but the translation was dreadful and the two of them were torturing each other even worse. I just dropped it. I want entertainment from the novels I read, not misery porn.

I have an aversion against the whole premise of people torturing and abusing each other and pretending it is love. It’s the same with the rapist to lover trope that we see so frequently in web novels now. No director in the world could save this for me.
Not even TTEOTM with all its charm could convince me otherwise.

Yes, I know all that because I’m reading the novel now. When I say he coerced her in the first life I mean that he slept with her but she wasn’t really willing. It was different from the 2nd life where she kind of “offered” herself because she thought that this was what was expected of her.
They will probably not include too much of her sisters’ backstory because they like to simplify things. I think it would be very interesting, though.

Thanks I am really now looking forward to it, though initially I didn’t want to watch it.
Haha, I knew you would crack sooner or later 😂

The links are saved under “recent discussions” just above the comment section as this question will come up frequently.

I just watched episode 35. I'm almost done with this flop, thank goodness.Shang Yi Zhi has got to be the worst…
I cannot shake the feeling that the writers tried to create an ML as an obsessive anti-hero (as both tropes seem to be fashionable at the moment) but somehow horribly failed in the execution.
The actor’s total lack of charisma didn’t help making this character more likable.

Well, after reading a large number of the comments, I have decided to remove this drama from my watchlist and…
If you are (understandably) turned off by the comments iI can give you a heads up regarding your watchlist. The Tale of Love and Loyalty would be more aptly named as Tale of Abuse and Humiliation. It’s one of those sick (love) stories where the ML tortures the FL but we are told it’s all because he loves her so much.
People were already unhappy with the ML in this drama being an opportunistic bore, I cannot see how an abusive stalker would be any better.
If you don’t mind a bit of slapstick silliness, I can recommend The White Cat Legend or if you prefer something more serious, Detective Di’s Mysteries is very good.

I hope it will be good. I don't expect many passionate scenes between the main characters, but at least good acting,…
Reportedly the FL has been taking acting lessons for this role… Let’s hope they weren’t a waste of money…
There are many passionate scenes between them in the novel (after all she is his mistress and he becomes obsessed with her body) but I doubt that the drama will be as juicy as the novel. Yet another thing left to our imagination 😂

Just saw the trailer, found it funny and interesting, and came here to check it out. To my surprise, a very disappointing…
Yeah, I kind of feel the same about the novels. It’s a shame when they have good source material and then still decide to rewrite it all (usually to just fill in all the worn-out tropes that were “missing” from the novel 😂).
In the case of Royal Rumours it was acceptable because the drama for once wasn’t filled with said stereotypes and was quite fun to watch if you see it as something totally separate from the novel. I still prefer the Crown Prince’s poison tongue in the novel…
I guess with this one we have to do the same - just forget the novel ever existed and see the drama as something new.
Even though I’m reading the novel at the moment, I know I will be able to do this if the drama is good and the humour is done tastefully around the more tragic events.
