8.7?? ok I was already gonna watch this, but now I need to ASAP 👀 How’s the romance though—more light or heavy? Is it slow-burn or do they jump straight into it? Easy love or difficult love? Sorry for all the questions 😭 I already have way too many ongoing dramas and I’m trying to sort through them haha.
I usually go for angsty, emotionally heavy dramas with lots of tension, yearning, and that quiet, intimate tenderness. So when I heard this was a light, feel-good drama (and compared to The Best Thing, which I liked visually but found a bit too light for my taste), I expected to get bored somewhere in the middle. Surprise surprise — I’ve never loved a light drama this much before. Overall, it turned out to be a really good drama for me. Even though it’s lighter than what I usually watch, the slow burn completely carried it (and slow burn is always a win for me). There was drama — family issues, emotional moments, real-life stuff — just not over-the-top or chaotic, which honestly made it work even better. The pacing stayed solid, things kept happening, and I was never bored. And honestly? Even if it were just the leads sharing soft, happy moments, I’d still be glued to the screen and swooning. Definitely a feel-good drama… but also lowkey painful to watch if you’re single (especially the ending... I was literally heartwrenched with yearning) 🥲
Do you know if the drama will be very different from the novel ? I really want to read it but I don't want to…
Exactly! I was actually going to say that this isn't a repeat of the 'Overdo' situation haha. You're very welcome, the novel is definitely worth the read!

I’m not 100% sure yet what they’ve done with the C-drama. I guess we’ll have to wait and see, but it should be a pretty direct, one-to-one adaptation, with only some adjustments — like most adaptations do. I watched the teaser, and it actually looks very faithful to the novel. That said, they’ll probably tone certain things down since the novel is pretty spicy, and they’ll want to avoid censorship. Still, story-wise, it should be the same. Here's the teaser if you want to watch it (it's probably from weibo): https://youtube.com/shorts/vJsvpI4c_wI
Can you please tell me if it has happy ending ? Like the novel ?
Totally fair concern — I’m the same way with placeholder partners, it can feel unnecessarily cruel if handled badly. Without spoiling specifics: the “NPCs” don’t linger as emotional punching bags. They do try to step in briefly (more on the ML’s side), but it’s resolved pretty cleanly and in a way that makes sense for the characters rather than dragging things out for angst.
Importantly, the story doesn’t frame them as tragic sacrifices or leave them wrecked in the aftermath. Everyone ends up where they’re supposed to be, so it never felt morally uncomfortable to me — more like natural exits than painful discards.
Execution matters a LOT though, so I’m really hoping the adaptation keeps that tone instead of inflating drama that isn’t there. Otherwise… yeah. Riot, but with valid cause 😌🔥

Honestly? There is no triangle. Like, at all. The ML technically has a girlfriend for a bit (in the present part of the story) but emotionally he’s already checked out — she’s never a contender and he drops her the second the FL re-enters his life. Zero hesitation.
Same with the FL: she has a “boyfriend” too, but it’s basically fake/for coping reasons, no real feelings involved, barely even counts. Her heart was never there.
So yeah, on paper it looks like a triangle, but in practice it’s just two people orbiting each other while some NPCs pass through 💀 no prolonged jealousy arcs, no “who will she choose,” no emotional tug-of-war.
I do share your concern about adaptations though — the novel’s main plot ends pretty abruptly, but the payoff is fully delivered through the side stories/epilogues, which are super wholesome and make all the angst worth it. If they adapt those properly, it should land beautifully. If not… we riot 🙂

Definitely angsty. The leads have a complicated history and a strong push-and-pull dynamic—hot and cold, protective but harsh, close yet distant. Feelings are intense, unspoken for a long time, and everything is driven by sacrifice and miscommunication. But there's such a good payoff later. Like very very good.
I just finished translating the novel and also converted it into a few different formats to make it easier to read for myself, so I thought I’d share it here in case anyone else wants to enjoy it too. The complete translation is available in .docx, .pdf, and .epub, perfect for reading like a proper book on Kindle or any other e-reader if you’re in the mood for that cozy, bookish vibe~

The novel has a very happy ending, yes. They get married, have a daughter too! There's even a honeymoon haha. Hopefully we'll get to see all of these in the cdrama too.
