MASTERPIECE.I donât usually watch this type of drama, and I didnât have many expectations going inâbut wow, this one blew me away. Itâs so good. I genuinely loved everything about it. The pacing was perfectânot too short, not too longâand I donât think Iâve ever watched a drama that didnât bore me at all. I never once felt the urge to skip scenes or speed it up at 2x. That alone says a lot.Everyone should give it a chance. For me, itâs a solid 10/10 C-drama.The beginning felt a bit chaotic and confusingâI had no idea what was going on at firstâbut by episode 3 or 4, everything started to click. You just need a little patience, and it all comes together brilliantly. It honestly felt like a mix of Indiana Jones, Tomb Raider, and some light horror or sci-fi elements. It has a bit of everything, but in a balanced wayânever over-the-top or messy. The story stays coherent, even with so many different tones and genres blending in.And can we talk about the group dynamic? I loved the bond between the five main characters, plus Shen Kun and Free Cao. Their interactions brought so much warmth and heart to the story. Itâs not exactly a âlight watch,â but it gave me such a good, uplifting feeling. Iâd even say it could help someone struggling emotionallyâit really leaves a positive impact.I was a little worried about the ending because I saw some comments saying it was âanticlimacticâ due to the lack of a big final battle. But honestly? We had intense fights throughout the whole show. The final episode didnât need thatâit gave us something more sentimental and symbolic, which felt right for the story. It was beautiful. And ultimately, it ended on a hopeful, happy note.
I really appreciated the core message of this season â that even in a world built on cruelty, humanity can still prevail. Gi-hunâs final act of selflessness, choosing to sacrifice himself for the baby, was powerful. It showed that redemption is possible, even for someone as broken as him.
That said, I honestly would've preferred if he couldâve survived and escaped with the baby. It wouldâve been more fulfilling to see him finally keep his promise and go to his daughter for real this time. Leaving the baby with Jun-ho felt kind of random â maybe it was meant to be In-hoâs final gesture, giving both the money and the child to his brother as a twisted legacy â but it didnât quite land for me.
Also, like many others, I really feel this show shouldâve either ended with season 1, or at most wrapped up in 2 or 3 seasons â but in a more cohesive way. We didnât need to stretch the continuation of season 2 into season 3 like that. If they really had to do it this way, they couldâve just made it âseason 2 part 1 and part 2.â And above all: just end the games already.
That was literally Gi-hunâs entire reason for coming back. He gave up the flight to see his daughter â his only family â just to stop the games once and for all. And in the end, what did he even achieve? He proved to In-ho that humanity is redeemable, sure⊠but at what cost? His death felt anticlimactic. It didnât hit emotionally the way it should have. If he had to die, it shouldâve been in a way that felt more meaningful, more earned.
At least the baby survived⊠but all of Gi-hunâs pain and sacrifices from beginning to end felt a bit hollow by the time it was over. The message was clear â and I liked it â but emotionally? It just didnât land the way I hoped.

Hey! So I saw a comment saying even the main leads wouldnât know why they love each other, lol. Is this more like a hate-vibe than any romance? đ Just curious (gonna watch all of it after it's completed anyways cuz i love any kind of xianxia)
This drama truly moved me. Not only were the main leadsâ stories beautifully written and emotionally resonant, but the side characters also had their own meaningful arcs that added so much depth to the narrative. I loved how every character had a story to tell.
The overarching themes of ârepaying hatred with kindnessâ and forgiveness were portrayed with such sincerityâit left a lasting impression on me.
A stunning, soul-stirring drama. So, so beautiful. It really deserves it's rating.
OH MY GOD THIS IS BETTER THAN LBFAD AND TTEOTM đđđ Can t believe I've postponed on watching it until now. But better later than never, now I'm so gonna hate not being able to forget it just so I can be blown over by it again. It's got so much angst but also so much love, idk how to put it, it's really a rollercoaster but I don't even mind the angst when the FL and ML have this kind of beautiful story. Like this is just what I've always been searching for, something similar to LYST but so much deeper in terms of pretty much everything. You can see how much they put in this beautiful xianxia, from costumes, to settings, to art, and the OST đ gonna have such a big withdrawal syndrome from this lol (and I'm on ep 32).
