Gyulim’s father and MinJu leave me perplex according to how they are shown on the drama promotion I wonder if that flirt is not getting dragged for a moment but their age and the fact it’s a family drama, by conformism aren’t favorable to that kind of relationship they most likely might have to drop this for the sake of their respective family. As an European I know that nobody in his right min would think if my mother, a senior citizen remarry and I an adult, kids on each side aren’t brother and sister in any way but based on how family registration works in Korea (I think you can still adopt adult there) they might get a fuss about it and also each time there is a romance with people that aren’t blood related but have lived under the same roof and people scream there are brother/sisters it might be a full plot. Concerning the bio mother I am not expecting a big redemption arc because she is just their bio mother, I am expecting the easy way back. They tent to be very lenient with family members and especially if it’s a man or an elder. How many time you see a family member in kdrama saying awful things and do awful things and at the end it is like nothing ever happened. Again family must prevail

So far there isn’t a real villain so happy ending for everyone is an option Gyulim and Minju gonna have their happy ending with Gyeol HeungSik and Gyuyeon love to hate each other they gonna end up as an item. GyuO should find a solution with the teacher. Minju is going to reconnect with his mother and sister And I am pretty sure the strange mother with the miracle they gonna pull out of their sleeve at the eleventh hour is going to reconnect with her former family. I think the twin’s mother is going to come back I pretty sure we saw her a few episodes ago asking for direction - with the most crazy story to justify her leave and stealing the money
true .. she is a main/supporting character and the script is very unfair so far for her
It’s way I really dislike this character so much. She is after all the most lucky amongst all the women in the drama but doesn’t do anything. The others are either broke, old, without family, abandoned by their mother, without proper education …but at least they are fighting to accomplish something
These parents spoiled that kid and they keep enabling her! WDYM she's throwing them out of the house?! She's an…
I don’t think so. Family must prevail on those dramas so even put through chaos the family always wins. Those dramas are created on public network to reinforce Korean family values. It’s why in those dramas all those people live under the same roof..Koreans don’t live like that anymore especially in Seoul
true .. she is a main/supporting character and the script is very unfair so far for her
I hope they plan at least one good thing for her but she isn’t taking that road for now.she is written like someone that put the blame on other instead of self-reflecting. She doesn’t look like interested by her nepo baby job, she doesn’t look like she is gonna move on and try to date someone else, she doesn’t seem the kind of person to consult a therapist and work on herself. I see on my magic 8 ball hospital gown, fake suicidal attempt and lot of crying
These parents spoiled that kid and they keep enabling her! WDYM she's throwing them out of the house?! She's an…
Yes they need a strong backstory to explain her reasoning and flawed thought process As MinJu is pretty smart it could also explain why he could not see her as an option when he was fully aware of her crush before meeting Gyulim. He knew she was cray cray 🤪
I rewatch this classic in 2026 as the last step of my marathon GongYi/Secret Door/I San. Now that I know more about I San than when I first watch this like 10 years ago, I can share a more honest feedback. It’s long but it’s overall, it’s a nice journey. The kind of drama I love to bingewatch on raining weekends or sick days. I wish the drama would have been more accurate concerning the personal life of I San. There are the palace records, his journal and his mother’s memories as sources to make a good work. Here 3 actors to play him would have been better than 2. The 9 years, was so cute and good. But unfortunately between him and the 30-year old King a teenager (15 to 20) is missing. I found I Seo Jin very good his dimples are to die for…but all the parts about the struggle to access the throne he was supposed to be a teenager. I Seo Jin is very handsome but nobody can believe he is 15 (he was like 34 at that time) so the Prince looks so dumb, always outsmarted by the Noron, insecured about his power and lineage but in fact he was just too young. I wish they either elude his love story because here so many facts are incorrect. They also were not convincing to express romance in that harem context. Several time I felt like vomiting when duties of wife and concubines were mentioned, or even his obligation to consume those relationships …that poor Queen with that forced pleasing smile I wanted to slap her out of the facade. Wake up girl!better be deposed and live in small house on Jeju island than than Palace. but that’s me I cannot overlook those misogynistic things. The romance was also so dry, that didn’t help but the OST amazing. The main title makes me cry all the time …it touched me more than the teary 🥹 eyes of the leads. For his love interest they mixed the real concubine Ui with the female painter of Portrait of a beauty. To give surely substance to the character they invented a full life from the first meeting to her death. They even changed her name. His love interest was a court lady who lived in the Palace most of her life and he proposed to her at 3 times from 15 to 29 before literally forcing her to. They made the man way more soft thst he actually was he has his dark sides …not maybe as dark as Sado who might have honored many maids with his presence at night but he wasn’t that pure and innocent. I wish also they didn’t cut all his brothers and sisters, here they make believe I San was the only possible option for the throne but Sado had easily 7 children. They were like 4 boys and not all died in the infancy. I don’t know if their mothers were concubines but here two Princes are mentioned but as orphans without more details. I also felt like the timeline wasn’t properly narrated we could no see when there were time jumps, they definitely should had put the years. For example he was for like 5 years with his love as his concubine but the narration did not portrait it. Those 16 episodes don’t give you the sensation it’s just a few years. I SAN’s mother should have age and the other characters Yoo, pitting a bear on I San just to symbolize it’s a few year later it’s insufficient. I t felt also very strange that fashion didn't change a bit during the whole Joseon Area…people could not have year the exact same stuff every day during 450. There are several characters that I didnt like, Dae Su and the characters around him (his uncle, his colleagues..), there were very dumb and the comedy was cringe. I could not stand Hong from the first minute he first appeared but based upon what I read about him he was apparently a real piece of 💩. I understand why they miscast his sister to avoid cringing us but in historical facts she was indeed the first concubine when I San was 25 and she was 10. He waited 10 years after consuming his marriage with the Crown Princess, absence of heir to undergo his second forced marriage. The pregnancy scandal wasn’t her but the following concubine who according to register was pregnant during 30 months 😂 but nonetheless her brother did some nasty things. It’s a must watch for anyone that love sageuk, for anyone missing the era of those big sagas. For the romantics The Red Sleeve Cuff is more accurate to the love that he really confessed in his journal. It also gives you more the sense of tragedy and yearning but I San covers more the political side, the ascension to the throne, the relationship with King. So both should definitely be watched!

Very true on last weekend episode she seemed more frustrated about the sweet love they didn’t share than him being her brother. It was weird. She is pushing for a separation, he has left the house….which doesn’t make sense her stepmother and dad didn’t even know each other at that time. She looks very confused. I wonder if writer isn’t pulling the amnesia card. Like she doesn’t remember the death of her real mother and like Gyulim convinced herself Gyeol was her son, she believes her stepmom is her real mom it would explain also why they walked on eggshells with her…she is not rational at all 😂

Those plots are unrealistic to me and a slighty dumb even her issue with Guylim being the daughter of the stepmother…it doesn’t change anything for her at the end of the day. The man just doesn’t like her. Guylim can be the daughter of the neighbor or the damn president it doesn’t had any effect on the facts. He didn’t want her before knowing Gyulim and after breaking up with Guylim…that’s psycho should just move on with her life and stop annoying everybody as if her not being liked by a guy was the end of the world. Even in Korea there are plenty of guys on the streets
The guy leaving his wife over a 30-year old fake secret it’s just ridiculous, Seohyeong is adult she should be able to manage her emotions and living situation by herself … That poor Seohyeon, writer did her dirty, she has nothing for her, a crappy personality, a crappy storyline the best that can happen to her is a crappy romance with the nosy friend JeongU…🤢
The idea was interesting unfortunately the execution was poor, the jokes were cringe the acting far to be top tier and all that made that drama predictable and slightly dumb.
I really like Hong HwaYeon, Chang Ryul , Jung Eugene and jTBC creative vibes so I want to see this one. I just hope the plotting to take over doesn’t take more than 20% of the drama. Those storylines start to get on my nerves, it’s always the same, entitled rich people that believe it’s still Joseon, greedy small people that are ready to stab on the back for a kimbap roll.
As said prior it’s 120 episodes as scheduled. There are no news anywhere about an extension and the last episode is still announced for next week by SBS. In September there are Asian Sport Games for several weeks so there is a gap airing for the evenings dramas on SBS and MBC
Have you seen the 120th episode? There are for me only 3 left but 118-119 and 120. On SBS website today it’s 118 회…and there are only two upcoming after today airing.

For these type of dramas per tradition writers change the plot pending on viewers’reactions
