I was hoping a few info on trot music on Korea, something to understand why that music genre is so popular. Show gave nothing on that…might have to watch that German documentary on Korean trot. Here just the usual drama about the entertainment industry: scandal, competition, jealously, unrequited love, vilains willing to do anything to prevent another person’s career …nothing original and nothing really about art and creation. I don’t know if Ji HyunWoo was coming back from military or something but he looked weird the first few episodes. That orange hair colour doesn’t suit him, his face look puffed, he changed his diction to remove his stutter…everything that still make his charm today. We have to wait around episode 5-6 for his face to look normal and 14 for him to have an hair colour that looked decent. Acting was average but decent. The story was clearly déjà vue 200 times. The music was what disappointed me the most for a drama about music there are no hits…or maybe some classics that I personally did not recognize. After watching it I understand why nobody never speaks about that drama. Not bad just not special or memorable. Watchable
Episode 6 they are in the MBC - “The First Man” living room I recognize the set immediately. It was a beautiful room with a patio. There are no small economies at MBC and apparently it the only thing (nice sets) they gave to that ridiculous drama. Pretty sure MBC included that thing on the deal with Disney+ there are always some bad seeds on those deals 🤣

I hated so vigorously that thing. It was announced for q4 2025. The two leads and the release waiting time made my curious and I paid the highest price for my curiosity. What a waste of a grey Sunday time and good actors. The drama moved from full dark, full red and even full purple. I fast forward the fighting scenes and still managed to be disappointed by the scenes were the actors actually speak, they are often fully in dark without their face lighten. The plot was so not interesting . I couldn’t care less about any of the characters. Did not find anything compelling. It isn’t scary either. Just a bunch of scenes heavily digitally modified and enhanced. The OST had nothing memorable. We have less and less period pieces nowadays and they tend to all go fantasy-horror mode. I ended even more pissed off than after Dear Hongrong last year! I must have been hungry too as that little creature looked to me like a rice ball covered with black pepper and black sesame seeds…if season 2 definitely without me!
Been waiting since 12 for the newest episode. Need it very fast just to forget that awful East Palace. It’s already a grey Sunday…still 45 minutes to wait …

I didn’t like the drama, I don’t care about it. I already made it clear, what makes people believe that when someone says he/her dislikes something that a full on boring discussion about a boring drama is the way to go. Is it so hard to accept that a drama someone likes others dislike it and just live with it? I already lost 14 hours of life watching that bad drama; I don’t want to loose another hour discussing about it. So hard pass. Good day!
I thought I had never seen it before but after like 4 episodes in I remembered seeing it on my local tv fully dubbed way back then. It was overall a nice oldie even thought it was unbalanced and uneven but often it was make the charm of the older dramas. The drama felt like it had an extension for 14 more episodes ; after episode 20, something felt different, some bad characters arrived (Lee HanSuk and her two daughters, the hairdresser, 2 nasty cooks, the snicky reporter) and we lost Youn Yuhjung. Saying I hated the new characters was an understatement. If I could have fast forward any scene with Lee HanSuk I would have. Her back story wasn’t compelling in my eyes. The male lead father, the President became also way less important characters. The beginning wasstronger, funnier than the end which was also pretty draggy. After episode 20 we had all the tropes that I hate: overbearing family, work harassment, unrequited love…I hated the nutritionist character, I was happy that they did not made of her a nemesis but I was disgusted by her entertaining a relationship with that poor photographer. I have a hard time to understand women that can literally prostitute themselves because a man has a little of money. But it easy to say that from my European country with my job and the ownership of my place…i hate the female chef that sabotaged Bong-soon and was never fired. I don’t understand that kind of message but we are used with kdramas to see awful characters no paying the consequences of their disgusting behavior and even getting forget without sincere apologies. I wished Eugene’s character had more growth here, she started as a clumsy a little dumb country bumpkin and stayed pretty much like that until the end. I felt it wasn’t normal that Lee Min Kim’s character had way more growth than her when we were on a classic trope country girl goes to down to discover her origins and herself. I thought also they dragged way too long her love interest for the third guy even after knowing his secret, after she revealed her secret…that made her love journey less believable. This 2005 drama on several aspects aged pretty well. This is way more watchable than Boys over flower for example. Either way I like seeing actors of my generation in the old dramas, so yeah kudos to Eugene for maintaining that accent that long and for the beautiful pansories.

I disagree that it’s a character driven drama and about a solid acting. The characters are quite one dimensional and I didn’t see any good acting skills. The reincarnation trope is very tedious and largely overused in kdramas (and Cdramas too). By the way I said Kim Young Dae’s fans AND fantasy addicts. I am none of that and I confirm my first comment it’s a minor drama that nobody speaks about because it has nothing memorable and even here where people tend to give very high rates to anything with a cute man the drama rate below usual.
The Rational Life was a decent Cdrama so I am pretty confident that a shorter Korean adaptation has some potential. Already having Go Soo in this kind of drama is something. I am happy to see Joo Hyun Young as the best friend, she is so good and has such great comic sense. I believe the awful mother gonna be played by Park Min young’s usual tv mom: Kim Mi-kyung…I have seen a few days post highlighting how many times they played together with new pictures so it must be this drama…the mother from Something in the rain Gil Hae-yeon would have been great too as is he is the doppelgänger of the Chinese actress and the part is right in her alley 🤣🤣🤣 Good or bad….There is Park Min Young of course I am gonna watch, have to give it a try it’s my duty
