why don't they remember ji ling? bc if there's no ji ling as long shen, then there'd be no li jie, no wu shiguang…
I dont get what you are trying to say ? yes she was created but she didnt go through anything from episode 1-25 though. If she was remove from the timeline the moment she was created
If she was created and remove right away.... this basically to everyone viewpoint she never existed beside Ji Ling

The conclusion that I came up with to resolve this is
Ji Ling never made it out of that cave with A'Wu, A world where LWY never existed, to go through all the events up to episode 25, where she goes back in time to tell Ji Ling not to cry, don't be sad, I'll always be with you.
His loneliness won, and he took his own life.
Ji Ling did existed but he did not live past that point, this would explain Li Jie and WSG as both where created when Ji Ling was actually still happy.
We can tell from the flashback when he was sitting on Chi Wen, when he told him what he needed to do, and from the flashback with Ji Ling and old YWH. He was still talking in Ji Ling's voice, not Long Shen's yet.
What reaffirms this to me is that Li Jie in the new timeline never meets Ji Ling. In the last moment, we see that Li Jie remembers the voice calling him to find them. But he doesn't recognize the voice or the person's name.
Li Jie said in episode 27 that he had understood who he was. Yet by the end, we saw him questioning his identity…
I agree with you, but here another way to look at it
At the end of 27, he seems happier because he has come to terms with his obsession with protecting Ji Ling, even though he cannot be there for Ji Ling anymore, since it would take thousands of years for him to be reborn. That's why his line to WSG to tell Ji Ling he has finally figured out who he is
But at 29, that obsession lingered; in the new timeline, he actually didn't recognize the voice calling for him. This indicated that he never met Ji Ling in this timeline. This shows that, although it is an obsession, it seems to transcend time.
You can say it's his obsession, but I think it's more the love between the two that transcends time, and not the obsession. As we see time and time again, love and obsession are two sides of the coin in the show.
So for those who wonder who the first lonescale demon is....
I thought more about this, and it is no coincidence that Ji Can himself has a moon theme, and that Bai Ze and Ji Ling look at the moon when discussing the first Lonescale.
Jiu Ying is the main villain, and in the final fight, WSG and WWY launched an attack that involved shooting an arrow.
This is no doubt a nod to Hou Yi, the mythical archer who shot and killed Jiu Ying.
Hou Yi is most well-known for his story with Chang'e, the moon goddess.
There are a couple of notable versions of this story. It typically goes like this
She drinks the elixir of immortality and ascends alone to the moon, where she becomes separated forever from her husband, Hou Yi. He remains on earth, while she lives in the cold, silent Moon Palace.
Kinda mirrors how Ji Ling became lonely after becoming Long Shen and gaining immortality, and watching people around him die.
Chang'e also became immortal and was separated from her husband Hou Yi, who eventually also died.
When did Wu yi read the first page of the manuscript? Since the first loop she's shown to have been trying to…
It might have never been shown like Wu yi actually reading it, you can assume somewhere in the loop maybe even after the first time. That Hanba somehow discover the truth which led to the drought. So she knew what would had happen
As great as VoS is for what it is, it still not everyone cup of tea
Yeah I think your interpretation of the event for episode 29 is Solid.
It definitely open ended in that sense, you cant truly say for sure.
Just remember LWY was created AFTER the flood dragon massacre.
It was when WSG master ( the star stone) blew WWY and the foxes up that JY took pieces from them to create LWY.
The timeline that WSG ended in after Ji Ling alter the past have to be a different timeline from what we say from episode 1-29 before Ji Ling go back in time.
But as I wrote before, a timeline where LWY was not created and go through all the event that we saw happen from 1-25 When it was show that LWY was A'Wu (the fox stuffed animal) that Ji Ling carried.
There many interpretation of what "fated one" mean
For the LWY and JL case, it is a causal loop set of events.
Because the loop seems to work like this:
LWY exists β enters the time loop β realizes she cannot save him through ordinary means β goes back to the point when JL is at his loneliest β prevents his death β JL survives and becomes LS β JY creates LWY to get close to JL β LWY exists ( All the events that lead to LWY to go back to the moment when she severed her tail to give hope to JL) > JL doesn't commit suicide
This order of event which creates a closed causal loop.
So LWYβs existence depends on JL surviving, while JL surviving depends on LWY existing. That is the paradox.

Itβs interesting because for YWH (Evil Butterfly version), even though the goal of removing loneliness from Ji Ling is a good thing,
it still can be twisted into something bad/evil.
If you can't point them out... how are you so sure they are plot holes?
The real couple of VoS π€£π€£π€£

As any event with LWY from episode 1-29 would never happen
But he still managed to do it after having all 8 severed and destroyed and one left sealed within Chi Wen
We don't know what any of the other heads gave him the ability to do.
From Xiaowei > Illusion Arc > Hanba > Final Arc
We learn from each of these arc people are dealing with love
Love for the past reincarnation of love one
Love for little brother and his people
Love that was forgotten
And each of these loves came with its own obsession.
Yes, the final arc is about LWY and JL's love and obsession. It drives the entire narrative.
And that seems to be the story GJM wanted to tell
So tell me what you would like to see from the other main?
they can always make new memories, one where they arent burden of being Long Shen, one where they weren't used as a tool for world domination
It definitely open ended in that sense, you cant truly say for sure.
