I am not doubting FL ability at all and am so far quiet happy with her case solving skills cuz although she is reckless and gets in trouble quiet often. Nobody in the world could deny her superior "interrogation, investigation and street smart (in case solving, she has that common people would do that outlook, which ML lacks) skills. I am very happy she isn't occasionally intelligent like FL's from other dramas but in almost every situation, her brain works and she see's stuff. To be honest, ML way towards the dark side and her little antics, humour, way and outlook at life are the things ML need in life and in majority of aspects. They are perfect couple and HE DEFINETLY NEEDS HER ! You misunderstood me, I like her character a lot but we both have watched a lot of c-dramas and alot of FL friends and her lack EQ means, unwanted mistakes, Jealousy route, angst and dragging. I was really hopping it would be one of those, couple working together shoulder to shoulder to save cases drama. I just don't want them to ruin her character for me, so far she is clean !

I kinda guessed it, twenty episodes ago but I was expecting some sort of the buildup to the finale like him leaking ML military plans to Prince Lu, attempting to capture ML mother and FL and other stuff. Can you tell me about his reasoning in novel? ML and mother are very good to him (brother), they didn't cripple him either. I get it he is the eldest son, but he was born to concubine and hence have no legal right to inherit it. His mother and other concubines targeted ML mother, and she raised him on his own. ML also didn't had anything handed over to him on silver platter, he worked for it with his life and brilliant mind. If it was for Binglan I would be baffled!

I am also leaning towards bother but I don't trust Lord Beinzhou and his rare goose too. You are right, it has to be ML brother, and they will justify it by saying he planned and managed the whole thing during the ML campaign against prince lu.

ML mom is pious woman, and he has always been good to him. It couldn't be the previous Emperor and Empress Dowager either cuz they were deposed by current administration with Prince Sui help. The only one with legal claim powerful enough to challenge SML is his Hua sister but she didn't seem to be interested in ruling and lacks the means to pull it off. The last viable culprit is Empress Dowager supporting her biological son (Prince Sui) but that won't make sense plot wise cuz if she wanted, she could have installed Prince Sui on throne during the Quantum coup. So, they may prop up new character who killed SML parents and rush the ending! The only thing pointing to brother now is, ML is leaving ZhenZhou and going to capital. He may attempt to assassinate ML on the way, inherit the position and rebel with his/ML army. Which again will be impossible to justify even if he forges the imperial edict declaring ML traitor or blames emperor for killing ML and rebel for revenge, Zhengzhou soldiers won't follow him cuz they are loyal to generals not family positions or seals.

Its whole different ball game and I am baffled by c-drama writers logic. I personally believe its impossible if any female/male in FL positions won't detect its stupid/wrong to not draw boundaries (to refute the other party and give clear No answer), when your partner has voiced his concern.
