They were in active war, ML was ordered by the court and FL did supplied iron ore, which will be used in latter part of drama to forge weapons and open rebellion by lords. So, she is a famous bandit Lu Wen (serial killer), was a traitor to the court for buying dangerous material like iron and ML actions were in-line with treatment of traitors in PAST/PRESENT/FUTURE and war does bring up loss of solider lives, civilian lives, damage to property and infrastructure and crimes like forcing.
