I watch this drama right after watching LAR (I just started watching LAR less than a month ago) & that's my initial thought too, but turns out it's nothing like that to me when I watch it, since the characterization & setup are totally different, so I see them as a total different character & fully enjoy the drama as very well rooting for the OTP here tho I'm a big fan of the OTP on LAR. The similiar casts they hv from LAR only bring a delightful experience to me to see familiar faces but you can see how different the characters they played 😄
I still don't believe the 3rd person is Cheng Xi and her brother 🤔 i think they only chess players. But tomorrow…

Qi Yan is injured badly & QLZ forced Qi Yan to pass the throne to Qi Rong just like what he did to the late Emperor.
Everyone who support Qi Yan are in the tight spot as QLZ monitored them closely/ home prisoned/placed a spy on them.
