Even with a full reseved character you can see all conflicting feeling he has all over his face & pain in his eyes. If you see his drama lined up you'll see a lot of variety complex character he have under his belt.

Romcom ML won't be this complex with less opportunity to show his broad, microexpression. So I love him for brave enough to take more challenging roles like this.

However, his upcoming drama South Wind & new offering he received Shining Character might be coming to fulfill your wish. One is melo romance, the other is romcom, both in modern settings :)
