Is it really dark & good? I trusted OCN for any dark/twist/gory drama as it's their specialty but this is KBS which's known for making a great family drama. Wasn't interest to watch this at first but damn, those casts!!

@bmore no prob :), yes I wished I put attention on more details if I knew they're up to something x'p
@aainakishore Agree, the summary itself was beautiful & sad and I would love to see their backstory for more episodes tbh, I wish they could reveal it on ep 8 or early ep 9 so we can have 3 or at least 2 full ep dedicated to their backstory and 1 ep for closure rather than rushing everything on their very last few ep :'(
Kind of makes you wonder what would be the right thing to do in regards to the synopsis, right? Currently the…
Agree, the early premise of this drama I feel like were made on purpose as a clickbait: young girl/romance/time travel/comedy, NJH&HJM... Ppl gathered & excited, then Bammm!!!
Idk how to feel tbh, I was excited at first to find they're sort of JBL lighter ver which I'd love them to be, only then getting dissapointed for what's missing, scattered & falling apart since they're not the kind of drama they promoted to begin with & then sort of a bit relief since at least they're not being draggy without a reason & find they had some real, thoughtful plot to begin with but at the same time I feel like I'm being tricked x'D Seriously I never find another drama as misleading as this drama is.
Like I thought I'd be drinking a beer but getting an apple juice instead, do I like apple juice? Yes, but I'll be glad to know that I'd be drinking that first rather than expecting me to believe it's a beer only to know by then that it wasn't, but would I be as surprised if I knew it before? well ofc not.
If that makes sense as idk what am I talking anymore, lol.
I wished they'd give us more depth/ background on any of the characters rather than spending so much screentime for us to see Hye Ja wandering around intruding ppl's privacy, although after knowing their real plot it's all makes sense. But they came not without a price, I think.
Kim Hye-Ja, dementia patient, lives with her son, his wife, and her grandson. When she was young, her father was a taxi driver and her mother was a beautician. Not wealthy, but a happy family. She wanted to be an announcer, but could not realize her dream. Fell in love with Joon-Ha, who wanted to be a reporter. After marrying, they had one son and lived happily. Joon-Ha, as a reporter, was taken, tortured and died. She lives with the guilt of not having saved her husband, and her son loses his leg in a car accident.
Her husband's death and her son's accident are buried deep in her subconscious, and Hye-Ja keeps trying to save them, even while suffering dementia.
If only she could turn back time, she could save her son and her husband. She becomes obsessed with turning back time due to deep regret in her past, and that caused her to fantasize about a wristwatch that could turn back time. So in her imagination, she returns to age 25 when she first met Joon-Ha. However, her face remains that of an old woman, so she thinks that it is because of this strange wristwatch.
In Hye-Ja's world, her son becomes her father, her daughter-in-law becomes her mother and her grandson becomes her older brother. And the doctor who cares for her at the nursing home becomes her husband before they married.
She lives every day in a delusion. She wants to work, so she imagines selling eggs and working part-time at a supermarket using her nice voice. She has fun with her friends, but her 25-year-old friends are only 25 in her imagination. They have all become old, or died. Her husband who became a reporter and died does not become a reporter in Hye-Ja's imagination. He works at a Senior Center and she sees him every day. But this Joon-Ha is her doctor who just looks like Joon-Ha. Her young friends and Joon-Ha no longer exist in this world.
When her father looks at her with sad eyes, Hye-Ja imagines that he is not used to her old appearance, but the truth is that it saddens him to see her call him "Dad." Her daughter-in-law feels the same. Her delusions become worse as time passes. The daughter-in-law is exhausted caring for a mother-in-law with dementia and considers divorce, but when Hye-Ja tells her that she is on her side, she cries as she eats noodles.
Hye-Ja thinks that her cooking skills have suddenly improved, but the truth is that she's been cooking her whole life, which is why she is good at it. She is good at kitchen work and packing lunches. This is why her father hates eating anchovies, because she fed them to him so many times, because it was good for his bones. When he is insulted at his security job, Hye-Ja says that she is his mother and stands up for him, but her father looks sad, seeing his mother's dementia getting worse.
In this imaginary world, Joon-Ha becomes ruined by his tough reality, and Hye-Ja continues to try and rescue Joon-Ha. Hye-Ja will save you, Hye-Ja will save you. Joon-Ha goes to see the Aurora to find himself thanks to Hye-Ja's help. But as he prepares to leave her world, she can't let him go yet. Hye-Ja had to save Joon-Ha herself, and bring the bloodied Joon-Ha to see the ocean. Only after she saved him herself could he leave her world.
In her imaginary world, Hye-Ja saves Joon-Ha from the room where he was tortured. When she rescues him from death and takes him to the ocean, that is when she comes to her senses and becomes aware of reality.
Hye-Ja now knows that she is not 25, but an old woman with dementia. She sees her son and daughter-in-law, and she sees the young doctor, instead of Joon-Ha. Hye-Ja is now ready to go on a long trip. The truth is that she had been planning this long trip with her friends (i.e., death) but it was delayed because she had to rescue Joon-Ha.
She couldn't leave Joon-Ha collapsed in a cold basement room, so she had to save him no matter what and take him to the ocean. She is now free from his unfair death, and she will leave soon to go to where he is. But the watch was returned to her by the detective who caused Joon-Ha's death, could she forgive him? The perpetrator and victim have both become old people suffering dementia. Could she forgive the person who caused her grief before she leaves?
Ok, am loving the plot twist, so that unnecessary wandering & draggyness isn't without a purpose at the very least since Hye Ja was supposed to be that way.
Though I still think that this drama could be tons better in substance if they could give us a better balance, a better flow or give us a few hints a little earlier so we're not lost with those repetitive story (esp in those we thought were unsubstantial one) or even a less misleading trailer promotion so less people would be dissapointed when they couldn't see HJM in her drama where she was sold to be the main lead or any other things that can overshadow the goodness of this drama. I admit that this week ep has been great, they're sad, beautiful, hilarious & that last few minutes of ep 10 was a jaw dropping worthy.
Anyway, am reading someone post/article translation on soompi which to me give the very best/closest possible explanation for what truly happens at ep 10, I'll post them on the below in spoiler, incase anyone still unsure/wondering about the plot. Props to the writer for even able to came up with such idea.
I can't believe 12ep drama can be this draggy, like everything is half baked & has no progress. Sigh, too bad since the first two ep was started out as 10 for me but now I don't feel like watching it anymore, idk why would they wasted HJM-NJH amazing chemistry in here, esp now when I feel this is his very best acting performance so far, I feel like cheated since I signed up for this after seeing HJM & NJH in their early teaser & stills and thought they're the main lead but am getting a granny drama instead (which I'd still appreciate if they ain't draggy & repetitive like they are right now) :'(
I don't even follow this drama (only seen a glimpse of their scenes or few ep here & there) as it was played on my cable tv, but there's one thing I can confidently say, this show can provokes your emotion for sure, whether it's rage, upset or even frustates you by only 1 ep in, aigoo, Poong Sang, pulsanghae
Ah yes, their time loop mechanism does feel similiar to FGTD, although the mood/set up in the drama itself I feel more similiar to Go Back Couple than FGTD
I'm trying to hang in there based on these comments, but so far so stupid.
Oh my, sameeeee..!!! I've stopped watching on their first half of ep because of how stupid it was, the comments really tempting me to continue but please tell me that it gets better or at least bareable & less cringier??? TT
This show is like a mix combination of Just between lovers & Laughter in Waikiki, a mix of a totally different genre who goes opposite way but strangely somehow in this drama it works!!! I love this show & can't wait to watch their next ep ❤️ I also discover NJH & HJM great acting in here, the best one from them so far.
I need Romance !! Ji Hoon is such a hottie!! I'm dropping another Korean Drama dang it . What is happening in…
I second the light in your eyes, the most interesting one from the currently released batch for me. Sky Castle too, awesome eventhough it's without romance
Sounds like Marry him if you dare....not sure it's a good thing...
To me it's nothing like that at all, if anything I think they're probably a light & fantasy ver of JBL (similiar broken ML). The FL here is able to turn back time in her own will while the FL on MHIYD wasn't able to (way more passive) & there's nothing like an alternate world was created in here I think (so far). They're unique/ different in their own way.
Is this sad? I got this vibe from the poster and trailers.
The pilot was more lighthearted & a lot funnier than I thought it would be but there are some sad/heartwrenching/heartfelt relatable moments too, so they had a great balance so far. Next ep seems to be sadder (just from looking at the preview, they can be misleading, though)
So Son Hu Jun is her brother, not a romantic second male lead?? Is there any love triangle? I'm hesitated to…
Yes they're in a "cat & dog" terms like siblings & their bickering was the best, lol xD And no love triangle thing so far, the only closest term would be some sort of first crush but that ship already sank to the bottom of the ocean, so no serious contender/second lead at all :D
What a great pilot! It took them half an ep only to get me hooked, I laugh & cry with them. The characters seems already fleshed out since their very first ep. So much feels ❤️
A very promising start so far & what surprised me the most was how good Han Ji Min & Nam Joo Hyuk's acting in this drama & their characters are written. Especially given how horrible his performance was on Habaek (BOTWG) & I never really getting warmed up to any of HJM's character from her past work before. Love how subtle & expressive his eyes in this drama & hers too + HJM-NJH had a great chemistry. Their characters really suits them well here.
So if anyone feel hesitate to watch this, don't be! They had the right balance of comedy & heartwrenching moment so 1hr fly by as if it's nothing, at least that's what I feel from their first ep <3
Cant make up my mind about this.-Black as a character was amazing.-HaRam started as a good character, but by the…
Actually all of your question had been answered if you watched the drama closely, however I understand that some may not quite catch that as there's a lot of mysterious things going on & they required our full attention to catch/ understand it.
So answering your question: 1. Ha Ram couldn't see Gil Dong insides Leo's body because Gil Dong (just like Black) was her appointed grim reaper to collect her soul. Ha Ram said that back then when she was a little kid & supposed to die, she can't she her own shadow 2. 444 ID was never meant as a date but was given to the top grim reaper who collect soul the most (I think they mentioned it on ep 1), in chinese #4 itself means death. 3. Not everyone who dies become a grim reaper but only those whose body went missing, so I think it isn't as much grim reaper having the same name (by his time of death).
I think there's a very minimal plot hole instead of a lot, it's just not every ppl catch their answer & stated them as plot holes. They often give an underlying answer rather than give a direct narrative answer, for viewers to catch the answer on their own (I prefer this way), maybe that's why.
I personally rated this drama as 10 because of how well done & thoughtful the plot was made, it's def not easy to make as everything was related & interconnected & it's rare to find another drama like this
As much as I wanted to see the character's growth of the real king, I can see that he is no longer in the path where he still able to go back & redeem himself.
The real king is already too delusional & lunatic hence I can see that Secretary Lee had no other way than to choose the hardest choice of his life. I can't imagine how hard & tormenting it has been for him to have chosen that way. To the King whom he had cherished for a long time.. For a better nation & to save lifes of the good people, he had to *sobs
The real king had a really sad life though, indeed, RIP Yi heon.
Wasn't interest to watch this at first but damn, those casts!!
