Yes I noticed that too, I think the reason his most recent dramas don't focus on romance and lots the actresses he paired with are older than him as I saw many times those who commented were always complaining about chemistry as the reason they dropped the dramas. Mdl viewers are more focus on romance as we can see most of those dramas with high rating are dramas with couples that they like and shipped. I'm one of the rare viewers don't watch dramas for romance only because I think it's kind of boring, I watched for the plot while those who watching for romance would skip his dramas because they think it's too boring or does not focus on romance enough, or the many petty reasons like the actresses are not pretty enough, or too old, or not good in acting, or with Esther yu case her voice is annoying. Wol is only exception that has a strong focus on romance. Xukai is the rare actor who is truly in love with acting and is accepting dramas not to make himself more popular but in order to get better in acting, I hope he will have more luck and better projects in his future, and his dramas will get more love from audiences like wol ^^

I saw other dramas in the past with such theme about master student relations and it was forbidden there so I thought it applies here as well. But what you said made me see it in another light because he found out from her he only got three years to live, and when she met him in the future he saw how she was doing well even after his death, so he thinks it's possible for her to find friends for her to be able to live on without him in her life since she has always been attached to him since she was a child when he rescued her.

Qi body has those scales that grows on her and it appears the first time when she absorbed the qiyuan orbs in the first episode I think, I remember jinzhao saw it on her body and was surprised and thought he was hallucinating at the time that means she didn't have those scales in the three years living with him. So those qiyuan orbs work the same for her as her mother can use it to grows her strength, but it also made her grows in madness because it includes human dark emotion. Zhu yu seeking rehai because she couldn't control her dark emotion and want an alternate power source. Interesting qi didn't have the same dark emotion as zhu you experienced when she absorbed the orbs could it be because of jinzhao helping her overcome it?

He has loss some weight but what does that has to do with the fl. Xukai does get effected by all those haters complaining about his weight and that's why he was dieting in the past, but what I see from many of his variety shows and his interviews he loves to eat and it hasn't changed, he just is more health conscious and also doing more work out to make his body looks fits. He now has muscles as I saw some of his posted photos. He doesn't have that baby fat on his cheek anymore though and I kind of miss it, however xukai is not anorexic, where did you get that from? He looks older as he loss his baby fat but he's more manly.

That explains why he can see only short instant into the future because it's luo huan's memory, isn't that a miracle that his gift still exists even though he disappeared 😭. We don't know why they don't show the three years when they first met, but I didn't need it because I saw their daily interactions and it was enough for me. We know jinzhao took care of qi when they first woke up and she was like a baby with no language skill as I saw someone said about the game introduction. The reason could be they want to show qi as more mature than how she was three years ago, or they afraid viewers will not be receptive to them being lovers after seeing him taking care of her as a child. But in their daily living, we saw Jin zhao and qi teasing each other, Jin zhao cooking for her, qi relying on jinzhao's guidance and his jealousy when he saw someone else shows interest in her. It could be boring to show these things as they were living together and doing the same things over and over as you said about seeing something that has been done before. Anyway even with three years of memory at the start qi was showed to be very childlike, not wary of anyone and doesn't understand about intimacy between the opposite sex, when she saw him taking a bath she didn't react like other young ladies, she teased him without understanding the differences between male and female, or why he was acting modest. We get to see jinzhao's reaction to qi as the opposite sex or him finally realizes his feeling for her as more than familiarity. This drama was adapted from the game and I think it was aimed at a younger audiences as it's family friendly, jinzhao taking a bath with his clothes on, or the relationship between ming xiu and her master never crosses anything other than a teacher student relationship even though we all knew how much ming xiu love her master. Xian qing and zhao yan relationship were also platonic even though we knew how much xian qing care for zhao yan, we were never showed them having any intimacy qi and jinzhao kiss to show their relationship have crossed the point of familiarity and becoming lovers. I think this was done deliberately because the romance isn't the main focus but family, friendship and heroism are. This share the same theme with the other older Chinese paladin.

Bian luohuan is an existence that shares a connection to Jin zhao, his future was exchanged for him, I also feel very sad for his existence was erased in order to correct the future. As a result his relationship with qi also loss to time. Xukai was able to showcase both sides to bian luo huan and jinzhao, showing their differences and similarities. Jinzhao can be say to be the future bian luohuan, while bian luohuan is the past, both has something the other missing. Jinzhao has no past, his only existence was because of qi, bian luo huan has no future, he sacrificed his own relationship to qi in order to save humanity in the future. It was a heroic move but also sad at the same time. I feel for the both them, Jin zhao has been looking for his past for three years only to find out he didn't have a past, bian luohuan knowing he doesn't have a future but wanting to hold on to his memory of qi because he couldn't move on.

Maybe you missed it, but there was a flashback of qi going to rescue jinzhao when he got buried in the mine. I thought that was so cute how worry she was for him, and blowed a hole through it to get to him. Her assurances to him of wanting to protect him when it should be the other way around since it's usually the boy that protects the girl because he was stronger, but in this drama, she was always rescuing him and protects him from many dangerous situations. Their relationship and the bond they share camed from their adventures together not just from their three years together. I also thought it was really romantic that rescued under the water when she kissed him without understanding about romantic intimacy just because she wanted to save him from drowning. Or them running to each other and hugging each other after a long separation, it's such a pure feeling of joy that's hard to dispute their feelings for each other. They're always together holding hands, doing things for each other, cooking for each other,, him always touching her mouth or her head affectionately. Assuring each other they want to always be together.

No this is not a pure romance drama because up to the eps I'm watching they only had two kisses, that underwater rescue kiss and the kiss when they finally declared their feelings for each other. For the second couple, zhao yan and xian qing their many romantic gestures were just declaration of their feelings for each other or him risking his life for her or coming to her rescue. These are things that much more meaningful than just intimacy. This is the thing that are show not tell, it's not the drama fault that you chose to ignore it for something less meaningful because you want something more flashy that you think this drama didn't give. That scene in the rain when Jinzhao realized he has no past and was crying out in pain and qi holding an umbrella over him I thought that was such a symbolic representative of their love for each other. Qi doesn't care that Jin zhao doesn't have a past and just want to be with him no matter what, while Jin zhao could go on and looks to the future because he has qi with him.

Yeah I thought the same there was an interview of xukai and the interviewer said yu zheng praised him so I think yu zheng does value him, but his boss is the type who like to stir up trouble by making lots of controversial statements that sometimes hurt his own artists.

Yes jinzhao was created by the future bian luohuan from three years later and bian luohuan will get replaced by jinzhao and he will cease to exist.

I think they could've translated the prefix closer to its meaning rather than put their names. I understood those prefix that why I get irritated each time they weren't translated correctly.

That conversation between Jinzhao and luohuan made me remember xukai talking in an interview about sf6 and he said his future self and past self talking to each other now i know what he meant. I'm surprised he was able to spoil it when sf6 hasn't aired yet. There're still some people who gotten confused about jinzhao's identity. It's explained very clearly in the drama when bian luohuan made reference to himself many times about not having a future. He spend 12 years with qi but his resonance was not as strong as jinzhao who spend only three years with her. In qi's perspective even though luohuan was nice to her his resonance with her is about control while with jinzhao she has freedom and her resonance with him was because of their bonds. Qi feeling for bian luohuan is different from her feeling for jinzhao, I'm sad for him even though I like jinzhao and qi relationship. Turn out he and his siblings are not blood related, and his mother was abusive towards him and gave him the scar on his cheek. Luohuan looks so sickly and unhappy in this episode, his final good bye to his older brother and qi made me so emotional, he's really reluctant to leave. He really wants to grant qi's wish to go to the mortal world, his hurt looks when qi is indifferent to him compared to three years before 😭

Yes I know it was a tragic love story because they didn't get together. Anyway you said you didn't like xukai recent couple matches, which one are you referring to, I thought xukai and jingtian and gulli nazha also have great chemistry. I'm also looking forward to his new dramas with seven tan and yang zi. And like you I would like Esther and xukai to be pair again ^^

Watching to ep 28, I finally found out Jin zhao's origin, so I'm not completely wrong. Jin zhao and qi are going to be a weapon to deal with zhu yu once she turned mad. What I didn't think of was the luo huan three years from the future traveled to the past to correct the future by creating Jin zhao to resonate with qi because he couldn't do it in the future causing them to lose the fight against zhu yu. So that phrase bian luo huan said about not having a future finally makes sense. By creating Jin zhao he exchanged himself in the process that means bian luhuan can only live to three years up to the time he created Jinzhao. Wow that's some time traveling paradox, the future will correct itself once a person makes a wish they will disappear and the one they wishes for will replaces them. How sad for luo huan, what he said about qi wanting her hatred of him rather than being forgotten. Jinzhao not having a past is finally explained. I love time travel, this is some deep stuff, I watched a few times travel dramas and always love a drama that has a good explanation about time travel and makes you think ^^
