Ancient love poetry used to has a rating of 8.6, but in a single day all three of his dramas went down in rating. It looks like some haters don't watch these three dramas and massively rated down these dramas at the same time to bring down the rating. It's kind of stupid to be that juvenile, but what can you do to be that popular and a threat to whoever these haters happen to like lol.

I think he has a choice now on what script to pick, but I wonder how many does he get since we don't get too see many rumor dramas from him compare to other actors/actresses. Also xukai pick dramas according to the characters he wants to play that's why he's so good at understanding the characters when he was asked about them. I have always like the characters he played even when I might not like how the dramas turn out either by the direction it took, some of the supports or because of bad editing.

Agree 💯. For me when I think of wooden acting I think of being unnatural and not really getting into the characters and understanding the characters. For me I felt xukai is different, even when he plays a subdue character, you can still feel his emotion in his eyes getting across, and also his understanding of the character make him able to portray the characters as how they were written or how I understand the characters through his portrayal. And agree he's a very good looking actor, who can really able to carry himself through the various outfits they given him, even when they're not attractive, he can still make himself looks good in it. I think this is why he was able to convince the audiences of the characters he played, and have me as his loyal fan since I started watching more cdramas because of him ^^

And what do you prefer. I didn't watch the other drama, so can't say much about the fl there.

No he didn't. He was dub by someone else same with jing tian. I heard it was because he has an accent as a result for historical dramas his voice is not good enough unlike for modern dramas, which are less strict so he has started to dub himself.

Yeah there's so many interesting things to watch in this drama. But I notice some people just want to find fault to stop watching it. Just seeing a preview of the main leads pointing their swords at each other already makes me interested in watching to know what happens next and how did it gets to that point. It's been a very long time to see such an interesting female lead who will stay strong to the end and not betray her principles, same with the male lead. The ml in this drama is similar to the fl in who rule the world, who doesn't care about politics and only want to travel the word, but later on due to responsibility she was forced to become the ruler of her country, while fl in this drama share some similarities to the ml who has ambition and care about the country and its people. I was thinking the other drama has too much focus on ml and his family and neglected the fl and her family. I wonder how this drama will be towards the end.

He's a support character. Unless you're a fan of this actor then you wouldn't want to watch him in this drama, although being able to act delusional is still very lucky as we don't get many written delusional ml or villain ml in cdramas.

Because he doesn't care about politics, and want his children to live a carefree life like how he himself would've wanted with no power struggle. Being emperor is a great responsibility not everyone wanted for himself or his children.

Lots of dramas don't write good fl compare to ml, and fl always get hated on even though if ml was behaving the same way they don't get such hate. For this drama, I like how strong fl is, so let's see what people are talking about fl being annoying. I think fl having pride is because she's smart and is born in a military family. Her father also thought her to think like any males, so having so much pride could be a flaw and will probably cause many conflicts with ml who even though is royalty isn't love by his family. If two people have too much pride, then a relationship will not work, usually the female in the relationship will compromised, so it will be a change to see if ml is the one to compromised instead.

What's your criticism of this drama, fl is not heroic enough? In many dramas with long episodes, it's very good to have dramas with engaging plot lines and powerful fl and ml as well as good supports to make audiences interested to watch to the end. What makes you think it's overrated, since I agree some dramas with really high rating might be too high, this drama doesn't have such a high rating to be considered overrated in my opinion. I'm watching to ep 21 and thought it should get better rating than what it's getting.

I really like xukai's court attires. He looks so good in this drama with so many different outfits ^^

I don't think Lini's second brother is stupid, he seems to be very good at scheming. Also he wants to get their father's approval while at the same time wanting his older brother to be at odd with his younger brother. Lini's father and older brother are not very bright, they only care about power, but have not the brain to lead. How can you order men to battle and not giving them enough supplies, how stupid is that. This emperor wasn't train to be an emperor since he wasn't direct in line, he's just a prince who's a good for nothing. Sun jing is right about him he's incompetent and a coward, how is he father to such a talent like lini I wonder. Miss gu gifting lini with the picture of his mother, she's very shrew to know he wouldn't accept any other gifts besides that one. I'm glad to see cuilin comfort lini when he was down, that father refuses to give his mother a title really hurt him. Having a weak emperor will make those men who want power will not respect him and will wants to overthrown him. General cui yi already makes his moves, just due to a bad strategy, that weak emperor just loss a city. Now how can lini gets it back. Also beating a prince shows how little respect he has for the emperor, or to suggest lini married into his family showed even more how little he thought of the emperor. Lini doesn't care about politics, but he still understands the general is disrespecting his father by suggesting he married into his family. How will lini and cuilin relationship turn out if her father refuses their relationship.

After he got the throne, he didn't care about the court, and only playing around very similar to the emperor depicted here, as a result he was betrayed by his confidants. He was the reason the long history of his dynasty was changed to a different dynasty. This is before emperor li shimin came to power.

Bailu wasn't popular when she was starting. She was more known after starting with xukai in the legend and arsenal military academy. Xukai has been starting with less popular actresses ever since he started. He only recently get to pair with more popular actresses. Also just wanting to play a character like a villain or a police officer has been his wish for a while now, but he still hasn't got any offer to play one. That's why cent is very competitive, and many times you see rumors badmouthing a certain actor or actress just to bring down their reputation, so they will not be considered for a certain role that other more popular actors are competing for. Only those who are considered popular get better choices in scripts, and have enough backing and fans to stay current and not afraid about their dramas not getting good ratings. As a fan of xukai, I'm glad he doesn't care about popularity and competition, and only care about improving himself as an actor. I'm sure he will get his time to shine and more opportunities as he gets better projects. Xukai has played many distinct personalities, and he said he like characters with multilayer, that's why he pick dramas with these characteristics.

What a stupid thing to say. If he was wooden and unable to express emotions how could he do comedy . And xukai has done so many comedic roles, and comedy is not easy. It requires more exaggerated acting so how can someone who they called wooden able to do comedy lol. His characters in several dramas were both funny and serious when required. That's real talent. He shows lots of range by being able to play both extroverted and introverted characters. It show he's thinking for his future and wanting to challenge himself rather than staying safe in his comfort zone. He's also trying many genres from historical to comedy to action to romance. Xukai also wants to try many professions like police/soldier/spy as well as playing villains. For such an actor who's not afraid to work hard, who through his own efforts able to get to work with many popular actresses rather than through shortcut. Someone must be really jealous of his works to keeps bringing him up when talking about other actors lol 😂

Xukai acting is anything but one dimensional. He has improved so much since story of yanxi palace and the legend. Besides ancient love poetry, also watch him in court lady, once upon a time in lingjian mountain, arsenal military academy and many of his other historical dramas. An actor who keeps challenges himself and not afraid to try new things. Who's not afraid to look ugly for a role. Just ignore those people, they probably didn't watch any of his dramas and is afraid of his popularity, that's why they're trying so hard to scare away future watchers. What is it with xukai that scare these people so much, xukai fans don't go around and badmouthing their favorites, but these same people don't mind their own business, and just keeps wanting to start a fight.

That Gu girl is kind of mysterious. I wonder if she will makes trouble for the main CP. She's not a simple girl at all. Her father also has a high position in government, otherwise how is he able to keeps his position even though he opposed sun jing. He also has a good reputation with the people so this father and daughter are not simple. They seem to be interested in lini right now. He also doesn't care for rewards, is he truly as he seems.

There was a drama I watched a long time ago that depicted li shimin as not being ambitious and caring about his father and brothers just like lini in this drama. His brothers were always jealous of him because of how much smarter he's to them, and it tried to explain why he took the throne kind of a way to excuse him for killing his brothers. Lini I think does have some similarities to li shimin in that drama, but he also resemble the ml in that drama who was also really smart and ambitious, but he was able to walk away from competing for the throne because of his friendship to li shimin. Both men have high regard for the others. I wonder if the writer of this drama mixed those two characters to make lini since he has both characteristics of the two main male characters in that drama.
