I think if he accepted doing this drama, the character must be the reason he picked. From the trailer I like dongbo xue ying for his heroic nature and also his persistent and stubbornness when facing danger and refusing to give up. That's why if I want to watch a drama I will not read novel in order to enjoy the drama since I know I will be critical of the drama and want it to stay as faithful to novel as possible. I think by not having any expectations you will enjoy the drama as a whole new experience. Dramas don't always follow novels and lead to dissatisfaction of novel fans, I heard the same with fans of bftb when it first came out the novel fans also disappointed with the production.

In term of quality it's too early to say but I'm liking the first ep I seen can't wait for the rest of the eps. Vfx is not the whole reason to watch a drama, what I like is how real the fighting scenes are and xukai get lots of hands on with using his spear. Also seen some of his older dramas with low budget and I think this one is better than the legend, once upon a time in lingjian mountain and dance of the sky empire in term of vfx and fight scenes. In an interview xukai said the director doesn't want to use too much vfx for fighting scenes so he has to train using the spear for months, that's real dedication to his role ^^
First ep introduction I'm liking it. Lots of actions and xukai action scenes was great. And the main leads already meet, this will give them a chance to develop feeling for each other. Hope xue ying will be able to rescue his mother, and avenge his father.

Yeah how can you blame him though he was sleeping all that time, so his counterpart fell in love with her again not knowing baijue's plan. Qingmu is not baijue since he doesn't have the responsibility for the three realms on his shoulder, so he would choose love, but baijue's position is different he's a true god who has to care for all people and the three realms; he knew what was going to happen and he spend thousands of years planning for that scenario, so he couldn't just choose love like qingmu would. However his intention was to make houchi give up on qingmu and accept qingmu is gone by faking that marriage. He couldn't predict what would happen to houchi and everything that came after. He felt guilty for hurting her, and that why he let her stab him, and I think in a way stabbing him really is a way for her to let him go in a sense since she's thinking she want to get revenge on him for taking away qingmu and boxuan from her and for gu Jun's death.
