I understand what you're implying about the ml in other dramas, but for this drama only I understood his reason and it was made clear why he acted that way. He's an eSport player who has no time for girlfriend, also he doesn't want to be bother by a girlfriend who will take his time away from eSport. It was made pretty clear to me in the beginning. His liking the fl came about because she has the same interest as he does. I don't know about other dramas, but for this drama the set up made perfect sense why he has to act cold toward girls because he's an attractive guy, and also he's in the public eyes, he wouldn't want to have any scandal involving him to distract him from his love for eSports.

Don't push your worldview onto others. In asian culture in the past and even now some women still want to have marriage before sex, and they consider once they had sex with a guy, they're committed to be marry to. Most guys who are not ready to settle down has to be careful about sending the wrong message. For the ml in this drama, his position is made very clear when he said he's not willing to be in a relationship with someone who does not have the same interests as him, because he knows they will break up eventually. For Asian culture, they're much more conservative, and some Asians are asexual and don't have any interests in sex at all. This drama even get a lot of criticism from eSports fans for showing an escort player being in a relationship, well they think it's totally a wrong representation of eSport players.

Did I criticize. I don't remember I was criticize, but I do think it's a waste of time as that person is saying in this comment section when the majority like this drama and will rate it high.

Nobody is forcing you to waste your time on a drama you don't like, but you're truly wasting your time here since people who like it will still like it and rate it high lol ^^

Yeah this drama is very good. I really like the main leads here, but I have to say support characters are not as compelling/interesting as in those other palace dramas I seen before. Most of you Zheng dramas have big casts, and the focus are not always on the main leads.

It's happy ending, but too short.

I don't remember fl ever drooling over ml for his good look, but I can see she was idolizing him from their first meeting in the elevator. I just thought she was admiring him for his game skill until she truly get to know him and fell in love with him. Fl never shows she cares about how good looking he's unlike her friend who was praising ml for his good look each time she met fl. For ml we don't know his dating history, but what is know about him is he only cares about eSports, and he said he will date girl who can beat him in game. There was a scene where he explained to fatty why he likes fl, and it all stem from her being able to play eSports, he called her cute crying after losing a game, etc. I don't know about other ml, but for this ml it makes sense for him to avoid having girlfriend since his interest has always been eSports, so his girlfriend has to be someone who also into eSports. Many dramas main target audiences are females, so that explains why most ml are written as devoted and perfect boyfriend material. For this drama, the ml is not so perfect, he's cold and kind of mean, and he also made mistakes when he has to deal with social media, protecting his girlfriend and being the captain. I like how responsible he's as a captain, and his change in personality once they started dating lol ^^

The food competition didn't have a winner because it was interupted. However Zi Jin said she won and matron hu agrees with her. Yue hua purposely caused that fire, she did it to get revenge for her master death. However she told matron meng she did it to help her, is that true I kind of don't believe her. Matron hu death was accidental, even though yue hua is responsible I don't think she was thinking of killing matron hu. Matron meng and yue hua are on friendly term now, but I wonder for how long because yue hua is not that simple. She's also working with you yi fan, and what she wanted was the highest position in the kitchen.

Guess I'll just wait for another xukai's drama until this one sort itself out on when is the real air date. There're too many rumors that came out to be nothing. I'm usually more patience than this.

Kind of feel bad for Zi Jin, losing her position to another woman, the title of consort and concubine are very different. What a sad fate for a woman in that time, promise to the royal family, she can either marry or becomes a nun, not much of a choice in my opinion. The empress threaten her family didn't have an effect on her at all, she determine to not marry because she values her freedom regardless of her love for the prince. Her family is so selfish, according to Zi Jin she was lock up while she was trained to become the prince consort but they didn't care to check up on her, and the brother has the nerve to beg her to gives in to the empress because he's afraid for his life.

Zi Jin and matron meng help noble consort gu get back together with the emperor, and she gotten a favor from her. She in turn use that favor to help yue hua. I think she wasted the favor to help yue hua when yue hua is not appreciate her help. Funny nobody notice Zi Jin took the painting of zhan ji, she restore the painting and return it to him, that's so sweet just like how she helped him the first time ^^ Zhan ji being so cute when he's grumpy about the sweet tofu dessert, his annoyance is too funny, as well as his jealousy when he thought zi Jin was cooking for another man ^^
