I like this better than love 020 since I like it better that the main leads both working toward a goal since they're gamers rather than the fl working for the ml as a secretary while he's working on his dream in the other drama, like she gave up her own dream for him to shine lol.

If you can watch him in court lady, then I think you can watch this too. You can try watching a few eps to see if it's something you will like. If you like drama with the focus on the food making and presentation of foods. In this drama xukai character has more screen time compare to his character in court lady, and unlike sheng chumu who started out as a good for nothing and has to learn from scratch. Zhu Zhan ji is too perfect, he is the beloved grandson of the emperor, he can draw, play an instrument, good in martial art, can write poems, nice to his servants, a very smart guy ^^

It's the hairstyle that's making her look older. All the other actresses also look older too. She looks younger when her hair is let down.

Not really if I really like the drama i even rewind some scenes over and over again^^ Court lady is a good drama, and agree sometimes it feels like xukai was a support role, but I don't mind it since the side characters were interesting. Also xukai character has lots of growth which I like as the drama progresses, even if the relationship can be frustrating. I really appreciate how both of the main leads were so outstanding in their post, that I didn't mind their separation lol.

Oh yeah I remember the eunuch from yanxi palace was also in Alp. There is another actor who acted with xukai in many dramas too, I wonder if he's from the same company, in court lady he played the crown prince, in Alp he played a true God, and he also in she and her perfect husband. There are a few other actors who were in falling into your smile also in Alp ^^

Agree, I really like this drama too but only watch to ep 21. In term of rating, I think palace drama tend to get lower rating compare to other genre. I also love court lady, but not many on mdl like it. Also people tend to prefer romance drama, so drama that doesn't have lots of romance tend to get lower rating compare to those with more romance. Just my observation, i'm the complete opposite, I like plot and characters and find romance boring by itself, as a result most of the modern dramas I watched have gaming and sport as the focus ^^

For this drama, I love the couple and was looking forward to their romance. However I don't have too much expectations, being this is a palace drama I just hope the main leads will get their happy ending and the drama won't end in tragedy like the last one.

The costumes design for this drama from what I seen of the two leads look very nice. Can't wait to find out what this drama about? Is it going to be a wuxia, I been wanting xukai in a wuxia for so long, hope it comes true ^^

I was afraid of that. I guess I'll just take what I can get, we were so looking forward to this drama for the main leads romance since we didn't have a good ending for the both of them in yanxi palace. Now let just hope they will at least end this drama on a good note and not a tragedy.

Not exactly, sml likes fl but she only sees him as a brother. Ml and sml also have a brotherly bond ^^

Oh ok, I love to read, so for me I don't like things to be too simple so it's figure out too easy. Something that's a good read is when it engages the readers so they want to keep reading rather than give them the answers. Lots of time when a drama got dumb down, people would get mad because they think the creator think they're stupid, on the other hand if they make it impossible to understand, then many people will not like it either, since what's the point of watching something if they can't understand what is going on. For me think I think the middle ground is the best, not making it too simple, but not too complicate either, so the audience will understand and appreciate the plot and characters.

Royal feast almost finished, still no release date for this drama. I'm looking forward to this drama after royal feast ^^

Up to ep 21, we get a bit more of zi Jin past. So she was offered to become the prince's concubine, but she refused because she was pass over to become his main wife. She resented the royal family because of her mother's suicide, so she could be accepted as the prince's main wife, but in the end she only gotten an offer to become his concubine. Does the empress keeping tab on zi Jin all this time, how would she know her son has an interest in zi Jin otherwise, or I'm wrong and it was her son she was keeping tab on and that why she knew so much.

And here I thought zi ping has a crush, turn out she was getting revenge lol, zi Jin helping zi ping delivered her food basket in turn making it the crown prince jealous ^^

Wow yue hua master died, I wonder if it was really a suicide or was she murdered. Yue hua think both matron meng and matron hu are bad people, then why is it she acting like them, also why is she trusting you yi fan when she has been used by him once before. Trying to win the king favor by using her beauty, good thing he is not a lecher and even gave her a chance to cook for him, too bad she didn't take zi Jin's advice and gotten on the wrong side of concubine gu, if zi Jin hasn't come at the right moment, she would've loss her hand, but she is still clueless.

Do you mean zi Jin and not zi ping. I don't doubt her way of solving problem. This is just my general answer to why emperor uses anger to solve problems, not saying it's the best way or anything, just how I notice most emperors have a tendency to burst into anger. Maybe that's also the reason why they don't have a long life span.

I think that depends on who you are addressing. If your subjects are righteous, then an emperor doesn't need to use anger to flaunt his power. But if the subjects are corrupted, then the emperor has to strike fear into them, usually these individuals are cowards and will falls like dominos when face with absolute power. This is how I experienced from watching all these palace dramas lol ^^

I think they do have a food taster, it was showed in the first ep when the crown prince was enjoying his food, someone else was always tasting his food first. They stop showing it after that, I don't know why but probably it was edit out because it would be too long maybe. In term of the male lead, he was looking out for his father and grandfather, it's pretty obvious both of his uncles took his father for a fool and took turn making him look like one in front of their father. I thought he was just getting a little revenge for his father. His two uncles definitely were planning something against his father. I can't agree with you since I do like this drama focus on the imperial food service, and since this is a palace drama, it's obvious we will get the occasional focus on concubines, palace politics, etc. In term of female lead, I like her character even if I do agree she's a bit goody two shoes, her forgiving nature make trouble for herself, but it was because of her nature that she was able to help and save zi ping who was down on her luck, so I think in reality there might've been people who are truly good nature and who are willing to help, and it's just our suspicion on anyone who wants to be kind, because we don't want to believe in the goods in people like how yue hua has becomes. No matter how zi Jin wants to help her, if she doesn't want to help herself, and think she's the victim she will keeps making the same mistakes over and over.

I remember the emperor in yanxi palace behave the same way, and get mad for little or big things regardless, so I would say it's not just because of being young and want to get respect. Emperor just has lots of power and like to flaunt it since who will reprimanding them, but it does establish their authority. Also I was watching a vid on YouTube, and it said Zhu Zhang ji died young probably has to do with being overworked, since he is a good emperor, he must be under lots of stress having to rule at such a young age.

You are using your own sensibility to judge an emperor, when are they ever make sense. But to answer your question, to strike fear in his subjects, so they will be loyal to him. Being too soft is not good either, having your subjects fear you will make them less likely to betray you.
