In ep26, finally zi jin and zhan ji gotten married. Their wedding attires look so beautiful, zi Jin looks pretty with some lipstick on, she looks much better than her usual attire now that she is a concubine ^^ So from their marriage, the lady who accompanied zi Jin told her it was improper I didn't understand why, but someone answered on YouTube that zi Jin was only a concubine so zhan ji standing waiting for her was improper since only the main wife get to be married to him officially. That scene just makes it more romantic knowing that he broke a rule and that's why she was so happy walking towards him, that just shows her importance to him even if she's not the main wife. That's just so cute ^^ This is the best episode in this drama, we get so many cute scenes between zi Jin and zhan ji, him coming to see her after she fell asleep, and then later in her bath ^^

Or it could be divided into two parts like some dramas been doing lately ^^

The lesson I got from this drama is no matter how difficult things are don't give up. Both shanggu and baijue perform their duties, but in turn they sacrificed their love, and I think the ancient gods pity them and gave them another chance to be together. It's a miracle, but this could only happens because of both of their characters, baijue used up most of his power to keep back the doom, and help shanggu reborn for thousand of years, while shanggu never gave up even after everyone telling her it's impossible for baijue to come back after his core was destroyed when he took the doom for her. She believes that he will comes back for her and her son, and he didn't disappointed her, this couldn't happen without the help of the ancient god, but in my opinion baijue is so stubborn that he would have come back on his own, it would just take much longer.

It focuses on food, and preparation of food. If you like these things then you will like it, the relationship between the main leads are slow moving, so that might be the reason for the low rating. In term of being a palace drama, it's light on drama, the ml father is a more forgiving emperor than his father, on who is the better emperor I can't say since this drama depiction of the ml father is problematic, he's so nice to his people and the servants who served him, but is critical of his own family especially the empress and the crown prince, and it makes him looks foolish since both of them are the two people who truly care for him.

It has both bromance and sismance ^^

Zi Jin is so talented, I'm learning so much about foods and its medicinal effects on the body. She's helping zhan ji to mend fences with his father. The emperor in this ep actually shows his good points, he's being praised by zi Jin for his mercy and goodwill to his people. He's actually very simple his love for food and being praise, zi Jin not only gotten promoted to directress, but also able to help those poor women who were like her mother who were looked down by society because of their families crimes to the royal family. Zhanji is so cute in this ep, he is letting her use him, and even want to help her get her wish of working in the kitchen. Too bad, zi Jin is just too talented, the empress really wants to help her son marry to zi Jin lol, it will be impossible for her to escape now she has the emperor attention ^^

Yue hua is becoming more unlikable, her looking down on Zi ping will be her undoing.

The cooking competition ended with an assassination of the king. How did you yi fan able to get that many injuries and didn't die, did he wear a protected vest, the one he got from his subordinate. Why is the king so cold to his son, he even blame him for not coming to his rescue, never thinking his son is also in danger. I can't help but think the king's brother has something to do with the attack, You yi fan and him exchange glances, made me even more suspicious he has something to do with it. The crown prince is injures, but he doesn't want to worry his mother, so he is hiding it. Zi Jin notice his injury and sending him food, that's such a warm gesture, zhanji couldn't help but smile ^^

Matron hu is borrowing yue hua's hand to commit suicide. Is she feeling guilty over the death of her best friend. No matter how bad she is, she really is a good sister. The crown princess is going to draw the wrong conclusion and blame zi Jin over her sister death. So I was right you yi fan knew zi Jin in the past, that's why he has been nice to her and come to her rescue many times because she has helped him before.

The crown prince jealousy is so funny, his reaction to zi Jin being nice to another man ^^ I didn't think he has it in him, he is willing to let her marry someone else, he truly care for her. Zi ping and the guy who she cooked for make a nice couple, she should get together with him, he seems like a nice guy.

The two attendants to the crown prince, both of them are so loyal to him, he's really lucky to have such loyal men, I hope they won't change in the future. The king actually believes his son is behind the assassination, and is sending him away, this drama making this emperor looks foolish. He can be very generous, forgiving a servant for causing his clothes to catch fire, but his treatment of the empress and the crown prince his own family is so cold, and now he's also angry with consort gu lol.

Zhan ji uncle loves to pit his brother against his son. He acted like he doesn't care, but he's planning something with his nephew. You yi fan seems to be loyal for now, but he promised his uncle to help him, so he might betray the current emperor in the future. I was surprised he was raised by his uncle, so he has been working for him all this time. Zi Jin has injured her hand, but she still insists on being in the competition to help matron meng, I think it's foolish, but maybe it has to do with matron hu whom I think was responsible for her injury. So zi Jin doesn't have much love for her family, that why she wasn't worried for them when the empress threatened their lives
to coerce her to marry her son, I was wondering about that. Zhan ji has a love hate relationship with zi Jin lol he acted like he didn't care for her cooking, but then he look worry when he found out her hand was injured. Xukai sword dance look really cool. His father seems to have a stick up his ass, he's constantly is jealous of the attention his son is getting ^^

It's a work of fiction, even if they're playing real historical figures. We can separate the real from the fiction. Same with yanxi palace. In that drama, I didn't like the emperor because of how he neglected his wives and turn most of them into psychos, but I didn't hate the actor. For this drama, Zhu zhan ji was nice to his wife and actually tried to court her in the beginning, so this drama actually tried to justify his actions later on for his coldness to his wife, and why he eventually choose yao zi Jin over her.

I don't have vip, but I can still watch it on YouTube. You have to have VPN to watch it though, set your region to Taiwan or Indonesia.

I know some of the history that Zhu Zhan ji died young, and fl's son will be emperor. Who are you referring to as the empress?

Are we watching the same drama? There's never a wrong choice. As an actor, it's good to play many different roles to get some experience. In an interview, xukai said this role make him uncomfortable since he's still very young to play it, being a beloved grandson to being the emperor are two different mind set, he has to change after becoming an emperor and has to hide his feeling. This is a good chance for him to get experience for his future roles and I agree wholeheartedly ^^

That's her choice. She has her own reason for not going along with the arrangement, she values her freedom and I understand that the most. Knowing how harsh life is for a concubine, I wouldn't wish that life on any woman. I assume she will be force to marry him against her will in the future, even though I ship them together I kind of glad he didn't push her to marry him since he has the power and she's only a servant. Also if you were promised to become the main wife, but then was given a concubine position instead, would you take it? The girl has self-respect, I totally respect that.

The story telling is amazing, got me hook and I keep going back to rewatch and listen to the music. Don't listen to what others said, watch it yourself and you might just love it as much as I do ^^
