Finally a drama where the cross dressing girl looks actually like a boy. The FLs and MLs silly banter keeps you…
This drama was adapted from a novel. Too bad there's no English translation of it, otherwise I would love to read it since I'm convinced there might've been more details missing from the drama that was in the novel. I heard in the novel, the two main leads left the school and become spies to join the fight against the Japanese, I think I got that from some comments I read online and I've been wondering about how true it's.
Anyone else obsessed with the ending song? It's sooo goooooood
I'm liking the opening as well, the music for this drama seems to bring peace and calm to the watchers combine with the food theme giving us a sense this drama will have a happy ending, hope it stays that way ^^
Suddenly I feel so sad.....shouldn't have read the spoiler...
We're not really watching for the real historical figures, but rather the fictional embellishments with some real history throwns in. That's how I see it so don't let it get you down, like yanxi palace, most everyone was rooting for the fictional romance between fuheng and yingluo over the fl relationship with the emperor. This is all up to the plot and the interpretation of what their characters should be like according to the screenplay...I'm not that particular, my interest is in the food, and how they will bring about the fl and ml romance base in this time period in history. Also it's rare to see a drama focuses on the ruling of three emperors of the ming dynasty, rather than the ruling of one like most historical dramas.
It looks to me in this drama zhan ji is not very close to his mother the crown princess since they have so little interaction. The crown prince despises his wife for some reason I assume he thinks she's too controlling. The emperor only cares about his grandson, and is disappointed in his oldest son, while favoring his younger son. There is another son, but he is not being focus much, so don't know if he'll be important in the future. And then there's the illegitimate son of the prince of Han, whose identity is unknown to the royal family, and is only known by his father. The drama at the moment is very light, don't know if things will change. I assumed it will since the trailer shows zhan ji becoming king in the future, so I'm looking forward to the plot and future development. In term of the food, I hope it will be the main focus of this drama hence the name, as well as giving us a satisfying conclusion to the main leads relationship.
Watching this drama is a struggle for me since it portrays the gloomy life of women in the palace. It's like they…
This is much lighter compare to yanxi palace and court lady. When watching a palace drama, there's a certain expectation it will becomes darker I hope it won't be since I really like this show focus on food, and my love for the cp from yanxi palace. Really hope they get their happy ending in this drama ^^
It's very good. The story is focus on the food and it's preparation. If you're a food lover you will like it. There is a budding romance between ml and fl, even though it's only at the starting point ^^
Zi Jin finally admits her feeling to Zhan ji, and his response was so comical, like she totally shut him and make him even more interest in her ^^ Kind of feel bad for his wife though, when she finally decides she want to be on good term with her husband, but can't really blame him for acting cold toward her now. She was so cold to him when he was trying to please her before, then she poisoned herself causing him to become sick and in turn finding out she would rather die than be his wife. That got to hurt his pride if not his feeling, his question to her about being with him to the end makes me think he must care for her, and the more you care, the more disappointed you are when you find out the other person doesn't feel the same. In a roundabout way kind of how zijin is feeling now, she care for him more than how a servant would treat her master, and is disappointed he treated her only as a servant. The sml seems to be interest in her too. His response to her makes me think he has met her in the past, hence his interest, or I could be wrong and his response to her is due to her willing to stand up to him, and not afraid of him.
After watching this drama, and many other historical dramas, I feel bad for the women who live in those time. Whether being a concubine or a servant, they have it tough; for a concubine if they're not favor they could be ignore and neglected or even kill if they are caught in the cross-fire of a conspiracy, while being a servant they have to worry about not offending the higher up. Such a hard life to live. No wonder all those who have money even gone so far as to bribe the palace guards to keep their daughters from entering the palace...
May I ask, which part of Xu Kai's acting is very much lacking? Not looking for a fight as everyone has their own…
I agree with you. How can 4 seconds can tell enough about a person especially if that person is written as a very complex character with real feelings and thoughts. Also for characters with many layers and inner feelings, and a real historical figure as that. I'm still learning about his character even now, since we haven't seen him in all his glory yet.
You can rate this drama each episode if you click on episode guide, Not many people are rating it, that's why it's low. If more people watch and rate it, the rating will improve since this drama is very good so far, it combine my love for food, good plot, characters you like, sismance. The main romance is also really cute with xukai and wu jinyan from yanxi palace, they also play very different characters. I'm hopeful her promise to him will be fulfil in this drama ^^
The sml seems to be interest in her too. His response to her makes me think he has met her in the past, hence his interest, or I could be wrong and his response to her is due to her willing to stand up to him, and not afraid of him.
