I don't think it was due to the length since this drama was shot in early 2019 before the number of eps was an issue. I think it was cut for other reasons because if it was due to the length, they could cut some of the early parts that were unnecessary before airing. From ep 47, the cuts are noticeable and we can tell they were cut by the censorboard, because those scenes are necessary to understand crown princess feeling, and the events that lead to the arrest of crown prince, chumu's feeling for furou as he went to rescue her, etc. Those were neccessary scenes. The drama kept to novel so well, so why would they take out the most important scenes, the answer is they didn't they were force to remove them in order to air this drama. It's sad what censorship can do to a good drama, so I don't fault this drama too much for having those cuts and still give it a high rating. It's still an enjoyable drama even with some of the details missing.

This drama follows the novel, and i have to say some of those deaths are tragic, but it depicts just how life is like living in that era. Under the royal rules: your life could be taken away just from a small mistake, or just being associated with someone who was accused of a crime, or being related to royalty, etc. The two people i feel are innocent and their deaths i regret the most has to be chumu's youngest brother and crown princess's sister. Due to censorship we never get to see what was going on in crown princess' mind, whether she ever feel remorse over causing her sister death. I'm reading the novel now to get those answers.

I did, it was really good. If anything, that drama follows novel really well. I'm the type who love original source over adaptation, so having the drama being so close to novel is a rarity, usually drama will deviate from novel. Only toward the end, there were some cuts due to censorship, otherwise it's a solid production. Great acting from leads to supports, the costumes really feel like tang dynasty too. Xukai is adorable in court lady, just love him whether he was being silly or being bad ass ^^ You should try watching it yourself instead of making assumption over other opinions. Looking forward to xukai and wu jinyan working together again in royal feast ^^

Toward the end, he has more screen times, but for those who are watching for xukai, this drama focuses on the fl and her position as court lady and the many different characters, it's similar to arsenal military academy and story of yanxi palace where it focuses not only on main leads, but also on the side characters and their lives. Did you finish the drama, since i heard you stop at ep 47?

I haven't gotten there yet. I read from the beginning of the novel, and what surprises me is how closely the drama adapted the novel, they didn't skip much in the beginning. I'm guessing the most cut only started in ep 47 until the end. It's still an enjoyable drama for me i was able to understand most of the plot. I'm reading the novel to fill in the cut from drama, and it kind of feel like male lead appear even less in novel than drama. I keep waiting for him to appear lol ^^

I think it's the censorship that cut a large chunk of this drama as a result we have to guess many things that happened that weren't showed in the drama. There is a novel to this drama that you can read if you want to find out what was cut, i'm reading it at this moment. Hope this helps ^^

Yes, it's a good drama. Funny in the beginning and get more serious toward the middle to end. There are some cuts due to the censor-board toward the end that might make you frustrated. There are many couples not just the main couple. If you have some time to kill, it's a very intriguing drama, with lots of plot twist. The drama follows the novel very closely, so if you still want to find out things that were cut from drama, you can read novel, i'm reading it at this moment.

I'm starting to be convince this drama will air in june ^^ that would be so nice too see xukai in a modern drama after watching his historical drama court lady. This looks to be a lighted hearted drama which is a much welcome change after court lady.

I'm surprised he only has support roles. After court lady, i can see his potential as main lead.

Oh i also asked that before, someone told me their ending is in the novel if you want to find out have to read the novel. I'm going to read the novel for all the missing scenes that were cut from the drama.

Who are they, if you are talking about the prostitute and the guy who likes her, they both were killed by fushui.

I read a comment that they had to do 2nd edit and that's why it takes so long for it to air since this drama was shot in early 2019, so it took them two years to get it pass the censorship to finally air this year.

Yes, they are very details. The different color capes on the men i have to wonder if they have anything to do with rank like the court robes.

Not all, crown prince was only in rivalry with prince zhou. Prince han didn't care for politic until his wife die then he started to get more involve to help his father. Prince zhou was not involve with any scheming involving his mother and her servant, he was too busy pursuing furou or doing his own thing. Those who were still alive were punished. We are in agreement, crown princess and fushui died too easy for what they did to many innocent people. They still died game over for them. Yes the only people i truly care about are furou and chumu, the sheng family and princess xinnan. I also like ying ying and feel she deserve her own happiness whether it's with zifang. I also want to know what happen to fuyin and luqi.

Really love the costumes in this drama of the ladies as well as the hairdos. Love the fabrics they use, in each episode i couldn't help but pay attention to their dress, they are so details and intricates even though they look simple. The men it took me a while to get use to, now i'm starting to like this type of style in the men. The same for the armors they're wearing, have to wonder if it's authentic?
