Just because girls hit on him doesn't make it a romance.
Girls can hit on and have crushes on guys in BL stories too. There's even times when the guys *do* go on dates or groups dates with girls in BLs for various reasons. Thing is ususally the guy/s in question don't particuarly care about the girls or necessarily wanna be there.
Yeah, I wish there's an actually an open discussion about the novel between those people who ACTUALLY read the…
I started a discussion thread solely for that reason and it was just ignored. I would totally be into discussions about it vs people just angry on principle.
I really am interested in the webnovel & the webtoon/manhwa not because I am mad about the removal of the BL aspect but because I'm curious how the story was done differently in the other mediums.
Like in the drama, Yi Yeon is argubly gloomy before the bullying because his homelife kinda sucks. He was targeted because he "looked" like he had money plus he was a loner. I wonder if in the webnovel & webtoon/manhwa those elements are different. How much did Yi Yeon's gayness affect the plot? Was Deuk Pal also gay so he could relate or understand Yi Yeon? Were ANY of the characters out or were they just discovering an attraction to each other.
I think this drama stands well enough on its own and it can also be seen as an AU version of the other two.
If they hadn't wasted the few scenes in ep 8 on the unncessary forced "love triangle" that went nowhere (Yiheon,…
Yeah, I'm not 100% sure why the girls' confessions or asking him out *had* to be a thing.
I get it in one sense since this been telegraphed from like week 2 (one or both girls being interested in him) and I think the humor is that Deuk Pal is just on such a different level both socially and mentally, that he doesn't "get" these girls and why they're acting in these ways.
Also, it's totally logical that they would have interest in him since apparently he's attractive and he had a mature vibe. So to acknowledge it makes sense.
However, it still didn't *need* to be a thing. I don't know where that time could've been better spent but yeah
I thought some will... those who claimed they read it.
See, I would read it for myself except I couldn't find the full story and the webtoon/manhwa only had one chapter posted (I think). So I would have to rely on people who actually read it
I really did like ending and the drama overall but some things gave me a bit of pause such as sometimes it is like they don't know what they want Se Kyung's dynamic with Yi Yeon to be and I'm not sure whether that is because they wanted to allude to the source material or maybe they wanted to hint at it in universe. Sometimes Se Kyung seems to be harboring some feelings (possibly crushy type feelings) and then we're told he just had unresolved guilt? Really? And the "true nature" comment ending up being about him not caring about people, while it definitely works in story, it doesn't hit *as* hard or at least it didn't hit the same as possibily alluding to possible gayness.
Another thing is the line about them going on a group date. I get that he has a new life and dating could/would be a part of it but if you think on it, it would be SOOOO weird haha. The mental age gap
Also, it could, argubly be a slap to the BL origins.
I actually started a discussion thread asking about the original webnovel & webtoon/manhwa that NO ONE responded to. So people only wanna talk about those when it involves getting angry that drama took away the BL element?
It's not funny but it's funny how jarring that must to be to have some random guy claim your kid is someone else's AND scold you for not being a present parent AFTER you've *just* come to your senses and have clear thoughts
Jae Min just targeted Yi Yeon because he was gloomy and suspected he came from money? How? How did he look like he came from money?
It's not unbelievable because bullies *do* just target folks on a whim sometimes. It could just be a bad day (for the victim) and something about their target grabs their attention.
Jae Min is like a PRIME example of a kid needing positive influences and someone willing to smack sense into him when needed.

But to each their own
I imagine Deuk Pal will somehow look out for Jae Min. Maybe getting a job at the restaurant the subordinates are running

Same with Yi Yeon and Se Kyung. It's nice that they got to say everything they wanted and needed to say to each other for the sake of closure.
Same with Deuk Pal and the big boss. It was touching that he could recognize and accept him after just talking to him for a bit.

Just getting all teary eyed haha

At the same time, I'm glad this is a short series and that the story was able to be told this well in 8 episodes.
I really and truly hope this actor gets more work, specifically comedic work
