I hope this show ends up on a service that allows it more availability. Maybe one that also offers The Dude in Me so folks can watch them back to back haha
Even being huge BL fan, I never was agains the idea of this drama. Many cdramas explored the cencored BL, and…
"Terribly mediocre" is a bit much. I will give you that *some* folks might rate it highly to combat those who are rating it poorly solely as protest.
The actual show is good. No one is saying it's without flaws or it's breaking new ground but what it is and what's trying to accomplish? It's a win.
The actors? Did a good job especially the lead actor. I was surprised to learn he's only like 23. The suppporting cast also did a good job ESPECIALLY considering they are rookies, in the early days of their careers, usually play bit no name type roles, etc.
The character development? Good. You can understand the characters' motivations and actions. Some (such as Jae Min) even growth.
Humor? If it makes people laugh, smile, and feel good then that is a success.
It has alot of heart. It's engaging and surprisingly wholesome. It's relatable and it's an easy watch.
So, 4 episodes in and it really is meh haha Like it's something that can be watched but not that it would have you biting your nails, waiting for the next episode. There's so many parts and it's not necessarily cohesive. Like I think there was a scene when Mi Jin was saying how she's enjoying her work and then a weird cut to the other lady senior intern or was it the former assistant? I don't even remember (which is another issue) but I remember thinking it was a weird transition.
I will say the show *is* fun and I think you can tell the actors are having fun with it and I know folks are liking it but to me, it's just a whole lot of meh with some Lee Jung Eun goodness sprinkled in.
"We're different from those drugs addicts; gambling only ruins yourself, drugs ruin everyone around you"
What the what now?! What type of logic is this?!
I honestly couldn't help but think of Yoo Ah In's drug scandal when I heard this. His issue literally affected NO ONE but himself and he was turned into a social pariah and as if he one of was the dregs of society, unworthy of decency or respect. Meanwhile gambling can lead to debts for not only you but those around you as well as other adverse consequences.
I know technically both things are bad, it's just the rationalizing how one is "better" and *those* other people are worse just irked me. (I know the guy saying it is a gambler so it's a biased comment but still)
Both issues and people who deal with those addictions could be complicated
Oh so a change from the webnovel is Deuk Pal being the one to move on? Hmm
I can't really imagine the development for Yi Yeon that make his return feel satisfying but I guess in the webnovel more time is spent with pre, during, and post possession to make it feel like a fitting choice
Hmm, if he had an identity crisis and started really seeing himself as Yi Yeon, and forgetting his own face, did that make it easier or harder to continue living his new life?
don't know why it's rated so high, the comedy is pure cringe
The dynamics between the leads and the OST are the biggest draw for me. After that is the moments with the teens who end up being devoted to their noonim haha.
I thought I wrote this but I don't see it anywhere so sorry if I'm being repetitive.
Weak Hero Class 1 became a sleeper, word of mouth type of success story and I wonder if that will happen with this show. For good and bad, there is chatter around this show and I wonder if it will pique enough interest that more people will watch it and realize how good it is.
I thought maybe even people could make reaction videos to it but then I thought it might not make for reaction video since it doesn't have gasp inducing action or dramatics.
I recently saw Chan Young on Actors' Association where he was doing stunt training with Yoo In Soo. It gave a new appreciation for the stunts and fight scenes he did in this and made me curious about him as an actor.
After seeing this project, I think I would be interested in what Yoon Chan Young does next.
It is interesting how this is spoken about along with Weak Hero Class 1 haha
I think it's because even though they have totally different vibes, the fact they are both well done school focused dramas predominately featuring guys, it's easy to connect them. Oh, and both are only 8 episodes haha
Once again makes me think of how classic, legendary, awesome Weak Hero Class 1 is that it's a benchmark for other youth, school focused dramas
Just finished this drama, I already know that Yoon chan young is a great actor, but he did an amazing job in this…
I just saw him appear as a guest on Actors' Association (he was Yoo Im Soo's guest) and seeing him do his stunt training made me have a new appreciation for his work in this.
But you're right; there's no point in going back & forth on this.

There must be a reason that is always included
Like "12 more episodes?!😫" haha
That's pretty much the only thing I'm looking forward to: more people finding out about her changing

The concept alone was alot (to me) it seems easy to get lost/confused with.
For those who don't know Lookism is available as a webtoon too
Hmm

I just want more people to see it haha
