One thing I'm slightly confused about - His father commited suicide because he couldn't deal with all that?
It could be but it was implied that Manato's father left his wife and presumably died of something. It wasn't revealed in the series but my guess as I was subbing it was, yes, he committed suicide. Though it's just my guess
ep. 11 felt like a mess. I didn't understand what the story was or what they were going for.
To understand, ep 11. One must have a knowledge on Star Wars lore.
Basically, Elaiza and Yama are brothers and sister (just like Leia and Luke). There are two kinds of ability present in this episode, a Dark Eater, Elaiza (similar to Jedi, using the force for good) and a Darkborn, Yama (Similar to Sith, using the force for evil).
On the verge of a World War 4, people with special ability called the "Dark Eater", started emerging all over the world and sucked all of the darkness in the people's heart. It brought peace to the world for 20 years. 20 years later and only 9 of them remains and Elaiza is one of them. Yama has the ability to spread darkness to people.
When a dark eater sucked darkness, they have to release it their bird friend like for Elaiza it's Peeta. If they don't or if they sucked more of it, they will be consumed by that darkness. The bird friend lays an egg called the Soul Egg which can be used as an energy source.
Throughout the episode, we saw 2 kids, they are Elaiza and Yama. Elaiza was abducted by Sakizaki when he knew Elaiza is a dark eater. He then took care of her and use her.
Episode ends when Elaiza is consumed by the darkness as she sucked all of the darkness of the people around her. Then a fake trailer for the continuation/conclusion of the story similar to Star Wars.
