Doubtful that Itsuki is Kawahara's wife. No interaction between Itsuki and Kawahara in all 8 episodes so far. I am more inclining to Hidaka being the father of the child (Not pregnant but already have the child who she needs to go home to) seeing as how much Hidaka (in Ayako's body) is concerned for her. I guess that they are separated but still good friends. I think Itsuki is the only one who truly knows Hidaka.
As for Hidaka acting weird in the car during the preview, I am guessing that it has to do with someone stopping them for a checkpoint and they had to act naturally in front of that person.
My final theory for the series (I know this will get thrown over the window once EP9 drops)
As a way for Hidaka to escape arrest, he took Ayako hostage (based on the preview) and they went to Amami Oshima to rescue Riku and prevent Azuma from killing Riku. Hidaka and Ayako work together to stop Azuma. Series ends, I guess on Azuma in jail/died of cancer and Hidaka in prison for being an accomplice. Ayako is suspended because of what Hidaka was doing while he was in her body. Kawahara gets all the credit.

What if we are lead to believe that the Hidaka we thought since episode 1 is not Hidaka. The customer told the owner in Amami that the photo is not named Hidaka but Azuma.
So what if in Episode 1, Azuma (in Hidaka's body) stayed in that Amakaze in Amami and talk to the guy who said his name was Azuma and took a rock from Amami. Commited Tadokoro's murder and Ayako arrested Azuma (in Hidaka's body). Also, the switched between Ayako and Azuma happened to be in full moon which also aligned with the sun and moon legend.
This is far fetched but what if Azuma is only committing murders on a new moon to not tarnished the beautiful full moon.

What if Azuma is not dead and the real Hidaka is in it. Hidaka (in Azuma's body) is the one with a backpack walking towards Kume's house but did not went through with it. The reason why Azuma (in Ayako's body) is searching for the record of the dead is maybe he is concerned of his original body had died and maybe he thought that Hidaka had died since he didn't show up.
Episode 7 suggest that Hidaka committed murder in another location and another target, so that Azuma won't be mad at him for not showing up. Hence, crime scene in Episode 7 is bloodied because there wasn't enough time to clean up.
I will pay whoever that can solve the mystery. I'm at frustration level 101 with being unable to piece the puzzle…

Azuma is committing murders in Hidaka's body until Ayako had switched places with him and is now committing murders in Ayako's body. The real Hidaka is in Azuma's body is the one who cleans after the murder in the hopes of switching back with him. Hidaka (in Azuma's body) turned the other way and committed the murder himself in another location with another target. I am guessing as to maybe not get Azuma mad for him not showing up. This can also be seen as how reluctant Hidaka (Azuma's body) is when he saw Mochizuki and Yamaki waiting outside the house and how frustrated Azuma (in Ayako's body) was when he didn't show up.
This line up with the hints we got in so far.
