His calculating side. I want to see close ups on his face/eyes that show the audience he is plotting something. I fear they make him an innocent protagonist when in actuality he would slay a child to win. Chang Geng is naive looking but he has a darker side and combined with his smarts, he can be lethal when he wants to. I love it.

I didn't know how much their budget was, that is cool, thank you for sharing! I heard Chang Geng will have a lot of costumes. I am way too excited to see them and indeed, you can see on the leaked photos that they are not cheap looking. I especially love Gu Yun's light armor and that one dark blue-ish outfit.

Priest's characters are great because they have actual flaws. They are not perfect or entirely selfless/good. You used the word "idolized" so perfectly. That is my problem with some of the most popular danmeis but I couldn't find that one word to express it.

To me, Chang Geng is more interesting than all the main characters in those books you mentioned. I could write an essay about this subject but I am not interested in fanwars.

I actually saw in leaked videos that there will be eagle armors that fly. They shot the flying scenes on location on wire and in a studio in front of green screen too.

Yes! Chen Zhe Yuan's gaze, I noticed it too! If some paparazzi photos can convey this much emotion on his face and in his eyes, I can't even imagine how it will look like in HD, full screen and in motion.

Chang Geng literally looks the same I'd imagined him, couldn't be happier with his casting. Even though Gu Yun looks different, I totally dig TJC's looks and I heard he is talented. I came around him being GY quickly. I like everyone else too, maybe I would have chosen a heavier set guy to play Ge Chen, he looks too adorable on the pics.

Honestly, the cast is not half bad. Fei Du's look is everyyyything.

It is full of generals and politicians who tend to be men. I would rather have few female characters who are brave and competent (which all the females are in this book) than have a bunch of them but are damsels anyway. And yeah, it is a danmei so the focus is on men.

I am pretty sure that the Xuanwu cave scene happens around episode 13. You know, when Lan Zhan and Wei Wuxian get stuck in a cave alone. Cute and romantic moments everywhere. Wangxian gets closer and Lan Zhan shows emotion, also Wuxian finds the sword in the Xuanwu and Xiao Zhan delivers an epic dark! Wuxian. All in all, quite enjoyable stuffs happen around episode 13.

I am glad that SPL/FHLJ is not put on a pedestal. I think it has the potential to come through and become a hit but if it is not, then it is not. I've read both (dropped erha around chapter 130 though) and it is easier to make SPL a bromance drama, definitely. SPL is super plot heavy and if you take out the romance, it still makes a great political drama. But don't take out the romance please lol

They look sooo good and promising. I think I recognized most of them from the book.. Uhh if they actually deliver us a good adaptation, imagine that.

What I did when I re-read it is I took notes in a notebook. I have to read my notes now to refresh my memory and I am good to go.

Oh wow, I am so happy to hear this. No wonder this drama is unforgettable. GJ and ZZH seem lovely and special people.
