OMG that's right!!! This changes things so much because everything after that is just SO MUCH ANGST. No scratch that, this whole arc IS angst. From the World Toppling Flower, Longevity Flower and even the Fuci Bracelet. And it seems like they levelled up the pain too. 😭
One major change I noticed is they did the Soul Slaying Nails scene in one of their weddings instead. This is a HUGE change from the novel and will significantly affect Tantai Jin's character from then on. I feel like he's gonna be even more evil than his book counterpart considering the wedding was a big deal to him. Goodbye mental health. 😭😭😭

Hello! Tantai Jin was trying to turn an immortal into a demon flood dragon for his own purposes when Susu arrived just in time to stop him. There was a huge fight and in the midst of it, they get sucked into the flood dragon's dream. That same flood dragon happened to be Ming Ye. Inside the dream, TTJ entered Ming Ye's (The God of War) body and Susu entered Sang Jiu's, the Clam Princess and Ming Ye's wife.
However, their relationship is complicated since Ming Ye is cold to Sang Jiu, putting his duties as God of War above all. Something happens that makes Sang Jiu hate him and sets her to the path of revenge and becoming a demon. Their love story basically ends in tragedy with Sang Jiu dying through punishment via Heavenly Lightning and Ming Ye regretting neglecting her so he uses up the rest of his immortal cultivation to create the dream known as the Fleeting Life Wisdom, one that relives the moments prior to Sang Jiu's death over and over again. It's a very painful arc, yet very important for Susu and especially Tantai Jin's development. Tantai Jin even goes so far as to mock Ming Ye for being a fool in love, not knowing then that he'd do far worse than he did. This arc was also the first time Tantai Jin felt any sort of emotions (through Ming Ye's own feelings) since he lacks the String of Affection which allows beings to feel.
When this part comes in the drama, I really suggest stocking up on tissues. I cried so hard when I read this in the novel. 😭

Very huge! The xianxia dramas we've had so far although angsty still had happy endings. With this one, we have yet to see. The novel both had a HE and a BE and the drama could go either or both ways. ToT

In the novel, Ye Chufeng's feelings for Pian Ran were unrequited since she was still in love with her lover whom she was trying to bring back to life. But it seems like they'll take a different route in the drama and make it a mutual love, making them the 3rd cp, though I doubt it'll still have a HE based on bts clips. So yep preparing yourself might be good. This is one SUPER angsty drama. The novel is full of KNIVES. ToT
