Up to this point, Shirashaki's character has been portrayed as very self absorbed and immature. In order to stand in equal ground with his boy friend, he is ignoring that very BF. I sure wish the makers added a bit of grace in Shirashaki's character. I understand there will be character growth and things will work out but as a viewer I would love to see those sparks of understanding early on so that when the arc happens, it is more believable. It is rare for a person to change a lot in a short span of time. As this is a realistic series, hence this observation. I am enjoying it thus far and again this is my rambling after Ep 7. If you have a different opinion, that's great too! Peace!
Aren't there acting coaches for theater actors? I don't know, I genuinely want to know. Are they expected to perform from the very first rehearsal? Surely not. Why would a director jeoperdise his show by creating doubts in their lead's mind? Surely there are other ways of asking the actor to do better. I am just rambling my frustrations. I know they had to make a show and create drama! Ep7!
The last fight sequence was literally and figuratively on fire! I am enjoying this show because of the fight sequences. And it is serving in that department. The camera work is also unique. Often it is held a little lower than eye level. Makes the world look bigger and eerie imo!
I absolutely loved it. I haven't watched the other 2 seasons, went in with the only expectation of getting entertained from a Satire BL. Which it did perfectly!
In Ep 6' trailer, Shirasaki is asking himself, is he really there for Asami in the relationship. Let me tell you sweetheart, you are not. You may love him, but you are blinded by your desire to stand beside him. You are failing to see that you are already beside him! I understand professional jealousy, and the want to do better, but if you maintain this pattern every time you both compete for a role (in house separation I mean), it will soon be real separation. Even though they are Boy Friends and living together even, Asami cannot share anything with Shirashaki as he fears it will distract him! Fortunately he has good friends who has his back. This couple will have to figure out how they will navigate professional jealousy, competition, stardom etc . etc. to survive. As they will face these every step of the way. Love is never enough, one needs to communicate, be flexible and have immense patience to work it through. I am sure by the end of the series we will get some kind of understanding. The Season is well made as the 1st one. Like TMS, S1 was fluffy love and connection, S2 was intense insecurities, separation, reconciliation and lesson learnt. TMS 2 did a great job of showing one's deepest insecurities and the realization of that. I am hopeful that this series will also not let us down. They have done a great job so far.
Its been 4 years! I remember the craze, the collective waiting for the episodes to drop, come back to the comment section to discuss, then go back to watch the episode again! May be it is not the best BL out there, may be there are better ones now. But Bad Buddy was a phenomenon and will remain a favorite for many! Both leads and many other actors from the series have flourished into so much more than this. The director, went on making good work and Thailand legalized same-sex marriage! Much has happened. In the Bad Buddy world, Pat and Pran would start talking about marriage just about now, no :)!!!
It should have been named Usagi in Borderland. I was disappointed to see a favorite series turn to this. My hope, if the decide to make Season 4, they make it with completely new characters! I have had enough of Usagi - Arisu saga.
