I LOVED your cast, except for the main role, Lin Yi doesn't strike me as Harry Potter at all!! Not to mention he couldn't possible be paired with my queen Jing Tian, their visuals would just be no no!! :P (Just my personal opinion of course..)
What about Hu Xian Xu? :) Well, he doesn't look good enough for Jing Tian either (who would at his age, maybe we should cast a different Ginny, lol), but he's proved to be a real natural actor & he would make Harry Potter's journey, adventure, friendships, & character development that much more compelling!! ^_^ (As HnG proved!)
Also, how could you miss Sirius Black (my own favourite character) completely in your casting? He needs to be someone who used to be super hot in his youth years, but cold (the typical c-drama lead, lol), at least according to the book, 'cause the movie never did him any justice in my opinion… And then becoming a shadow & a skeleton of his former self, through his imprisonment & torture… Hmm, would Xiao Zhan be a long stretch, what do you think? :D
Thank you for your article, I very much enjoyed it!! :)
I'm fine with this drama taking its good time in post-production, editing, etc. to get everything perfect instead of rushing to air it, but I still hope we'll get to see it by Autumn 2021 or early 2022 at least!!!
Gals & Guys, if possible, please send request to Viki (https://support.viki.com/hc/en-us/articles/360034633713)!! It's not often that they license Mango TV dramas, but they've done so with a few (e.g. the most recent was The Wolf Princess).
Great article as always!! I particularly love the way your articles are structured, presenting everything that is to know about the dramas in such an easy to read way!! :)
And yeah, this drama is definitely in my list -- though I'm currently watching Ancient Detective, and I usually don't like to watch multiple similar-themed dramas back-to-back to make a fairer comparison, so it'll take a while before I pick it up.
So is there anywhere to watch this with English subtitles? Thanks in advance!!
P.S I love wuxia, and I don't mind if they're dated (as long as the pic quality is good enough for me to understand what's going on, so if possible no less than 480p resolution).
What a delicious & thought-provoking article!! And to answer your questions, maybe my preoccupation with Asian dramas, to the point of almost eliminating Western cultural creations from my life (at least in the form of tv series & blockbuster franchises), is an unconscious way for me to detoxify my media consumption, and a sure way for me to diversify it. But I don't agree on consuming media that self-validate our non-conforming life-style as a healthier option per se, there's always the danger of dragging us to the opposite extreme of snobbism & special-snowflake-ism. But I agree it's always healthy to challenge yourself, challenge the society, and challenge your demurral! Cheers!
