So is there anywhere to watch this with English subtitles? Thanks in advance!!
P.S I love wuxia, and I don't mind if they're dated (as long as the pic quality is good enough for me to understand what's going on, so if possible no less than 480p resolution).
What a delicious & thought-provoking article!! And to answer your questions, maybe my preoccupation with Asian dramas, to the point of almost eliminating Western cultural creations from my life (at least in the form of tv series & blockbuster franchises), is an unconscious way for me to detoxify my media consumption, and a sure way for me to diversify it. But I don't agree on consuming media that self-validate our non-conforming life-style as a healthier option per se, there's always the danger of dragging us to the opposite extreme of snobbism & special-snowflake-ism. But I agree it's always healthy to challenge yourself, challenge the society, and challenge your demurral! Cheers!
Well, The Wolf Princess (a recent Mango TV drama) got resubbed/properly subbed on Viki actually, so let's pray to drama gods & send requests to Viki in case they sub this one, too!!!
For anyone interested, this is the WeTV official link (subs for the first 12 episodes can be found for now, depending on your region, and your vip/no vip status): https://wetv.vip/en/play/gv2duqsbmsgv09g
What if it's (heavily) rumoured to air in May, but not confirmed? Like with Chinese dramas?
Yeah, there are LOTS of worthwhile Chinese dramas out there if you want to explore!! :) I suggest you start with the highest rated ones, or if you want specific genres recommendations you can always ask me or other mdl'ers if you like! :)
I think you'll be fine, as long as you don't start anticipating dramas that have not aired yet! :D Probably... I hope so! xD

Well, nothing is certain when it comes to Chinese dramas unfortunately!! They've known to even cancel/postpone premiers 15 minutes after the 1st episode is on air!! :D (But yeah, this year Korean drama followed suit, LMAO!!)
Thank you for your list, it just reminded me that being a C-drama fan is NOT good for anxiety levels & blood pressure, lol!! xD

The 2 I added (I removed the 3rd, cause it had already aired 29/4, it's just the Eng subs that are still not here) that are rumoured to air are Ancient Love Poetry (heavy speculation but of course nothing confirmed, but it may actually air next week when The Long Ballad finishes its run), and The Love of Hypnosis (quite a bit of activity for it lately, like promotions & they released the OSTs, so usually that's a sign that a C-drama is about to air -- though this one will have to air a cut version to remove a controversial cast member, so it's much less possible)... But anyway, I'll remove them if they don't air after all, sorry if I inconvenienced you!!
Thank you! :)Ooh, the Code of Honor! Yeah, I did miss a lot of Wuxia aspects. It was really hard for incorporating…
Well, you did mentioned (always) helping people in need, that's one of the most important "rules". :) I think some others are about repaying both the good & the bad they do to you, not to be intimidated by power in the face of righteousness, be filial to your shifu, respectful of older generations/etc., and a bunch of other stuff I'm forgetting about atm!!
Some of my favourite scenes in Jin Yong adaptations wuxia include stuff like that, and the absurdity/hilarity that ensues! E.g. in Legend of the Condor Heroes, the heroes save the Villain's life, so he can't kill them afterwards because he can't be ungrateful to his benefactors! Or in Demi Gods and Semi Devils, when the Crocodile (one very funny villain) accidentally becomes Duan Yu's pupil (despite being much older than him), and he tries to make sense of the differences in generation, while trying to stay filial... xD
