When she goes back in time to change the timeline, but then nothing changes in the present? Then when the Goddess…
I think they were quite brave to tackle the death of a child... It was very poignant. But in terms of bringing him back, it's xianxia, anything is possible. I would have liked to see one more story arc in the last few episodes where somehow Shi'An came back in a godly form and the family could finally be reunited and have the ending they deserved.
Uhm, I guess so. like I didn’t feel it miss it, but now u mentioned it, n then I looked back at say SOKP, that…
The instrumental score was actually taken from Story of Yanxi Palace, so it wasn't an original piece. It really didn't match the vibe imo, could have been better, and since it wasn't an original score, I kept remembering Yanxi Palace scenes.

There were some real highlights of this drama for sure. The end of the village illusion where they were having a very godlike debate was quite spiritual, but my favourite was when BJS goes back to revisit the experiences HRY has during the 10 years she is trapped in the mortal world. That was peak angst. I loved how they took BJS on this journey from being lost and confused to this very painful realisation. The way they kept taking the story from one dark place to another and he was left in such anguish. I think it was the most moving scenes in the drama for me.

I see, I must have missed that. So, she changed another timeline. I was hoping they would bring back Shi'An to the present... I'm not sure how I feel about this turn of events. It's a little unsatisfying since there is no effect on the present. I understand that it kind of undid all these knots that caused the problems like the resentment and misunderstandings but meh, I would have liked a different ending.
Some parts of this drama were spectacular, others were a bit of missed potential imo.
When she goes back in time to change the timeline, but then nothing changes in the present? Then when the Goddess of Time resurrects BJS, is that in the past or the present?
You know what this drama is really missing for me personally? A moving instrumental score. I think the best xianxias have these extremely emotional scenes that are made so powerful through the music.
This is not a bad young adult C drama, and Song Weilong does a pretty good job! But Bao Shang'en is really not a female lead level actress. She lacks the range and her face looks incredibly stiff. Her eyes are so wide I keep wondering whether she's had a bit too much surgery cutting away her eyelids making her appear constantly dazed. However, she has her moments when she delivers and she's quite sweet. Her line delivery is not bad either, but of course, that may be dubbing.
Seo Hyun is bad, but I also find Ok Taec Yeon not so good, well I've never found him a good actor.
I think they're following the orders of the director in this case. So, I would just take this drama for what it js. A light, entertaining watch that doesn't require too much brain power lol.

This is a very light, entertaining drama, but I have to say it could have been so much better. It's a bit too silly and childish, but there are also some really funny scenes. I'm enjoying it though, it's an easy, entertaining watch!
There lips look distinctive, at least in some scenes. The lines that sometimes form seem emphasized. Is that makeup…
Yeah, it's a makeup trend and personally I think it looks ridiculous. Putting on the lip gloss outside the edges of the lips, the bitten lip look and the patchy lip gloss. I find it so distracting.
The rating on Viki is super low as well. It has the kind of rating that only completely unwatchable dramas have.…
The older dramas didn't have this issue with editing because they didn't have episode limits. That is the cause of most of these editing catastrophes. Of course, the older dramas didn't have as good CGI, that has improved a lot in the last 5-10 years.
My only other criticism of this drama is that I think the director missed the mark sometimes. Like they could have made Qingyue's disguise more of a mind game, but instead it was too convincing and then the reveal was too abrupt. Also, although I loved Bai Jiusi going back in time to experience what she went through, I think his acting and therefore also the creative direction was a bit off there. Every scene he was collapsing it became repetitive.

It's honestly bizarre. The drama definitely has some flaws but largely due to the editing and having so few episodes. The flow of the story is a bit jagged in places. But...by MDL standards, this should be a solid 8.5-8.7 based on the overall quality. There are so many fresh themes and takes on the xianxia genre. Some parts are perfect. And the visuals, the sets, costumes, the unique characters... The whole world building is brilliant.
Some of these users here comparing the drama to the prisoner of beauty or other genres that are not xianxia, you…
I like that this drama didn't try to avoid toxic themes like a lot of recent dramas where everyonr has to be so damn virtuous. Reminds me more of dramas from a few years ago where characters were more flawed and the plot really dark places like Eternal Love.
