Only 6 episodes in and I am not sure how to feel about this one. On one hand it is very intriguing and many characters are interesting, on the other it's hard to ignore some weird choices (OST, Choi Soo Young is more annoying than anything so far). I am also very disappointed with Choi Hyun Wook's character as the guy is super talented but underused so far. I am not really surprised of the ratings as it's not for everyone, still there is enough to have me hooked.
We will see, I will update my comment whenever I am done with the show.
It is a pretty dumb show. If you're only interested in visuals and violence you might have a good time.
The whole thing is very superficial otherwise, some characters are extremely annoying (the reporter) but the acting, the presentation and the OST are good.
Don't try to look for any sense in this though, as most scenes in between fights are fillers and try to lead to the next fight. Too bad as it had the ingredients to be really interesting.
"I hated this. Waste of time" but you rated it a 7 out of 10 🤔Plus it's not that surprising that you didn't…
What is the point of rating content if you are not using the entire scale "out of respect"? Needless to say that your personal taste has nothing to do with respect for anyone else since it is supposed to represent your opinion. You are making it more difficult for others because your system is altering the average. Average that might influence or even mislead other people.
More than that, where is that respect when you call this drama a "shitshow"? And if it's for yourself, why do you post on a public space? Unless you really feel the need to voice your opinion but then you need to be ready to be confronted about that opinion, especially if you are going to insult the show "out of respect" ;) Anyway this does not seem very coherent, I am sure you can see that now.
Watching while fast-forwarding means you will miss parts of whatever is happening. This has nothing to do with the ability of anyone to keep up, as you are literraly skipping parts of the drama. Whether it's the dialogues or the cinematography, scenes are crafted a certain way to make the audience feels to emotions. You admitted you couldn't criticize the show, though it didn't stop you from calling it bad, a shitshow even.
Everyone is free to spend their time watching things they dislike, though I would consider this a waste of time. But I get that it's more important for some people to feel like they completed something regardless of what that truly means or how it was done.
Thank you though, as you made this random interaction very entertaining!
Huge fan of his work and can portray very different characters. I really hope to see him more often and in main…
He was in Twenty-Five Twenty-One (I really liked this drama) and D.P. Season 2 (though it's only one episode, it's a very different role). Now I am patiently waiting for the subtitles for High Cookie.
1. Did Ha-Eun really travel to all those places in real? If so, when did she do that? I am confused - as I thought…
I will try to answer your questions the best I can though I don't know if you already got the answers you were looking for. Please keep in mind that is based on my own personal interpretation of the movie right after seeing it.
1. You already found the answer so no need to elaborate on that, it was all her imagination and none of them actually travelled there.
2. She mentioned that she wasn't feeling like herself while being with him, she even tried to but realized it wouldn't be possible. It is assumed that she did not expect to have a baby with Jin Woo and she did plan to share her life with him at all. The scene where he does not support her dreams is one of the triggers that pushed her to run away.
While it is sad for him, it does make sense for Ha Eun to take this decision as she isn't very confrontational (rather scared of it). You can even see Mi So trying to push her to confront her on several occasions, also based on wrong assumptions. It is unfair and he should have word in this as he is the father, but this was Ha Eun's decision based on her own feelings. This does not make the decision good in any way or acceptable, but it is her decision. Many characters take questionable decisions in the movie, which is part of why this feels relatable. Jin Woo wasn't perfect either, as we can imagine him trying to be with Mi So and go further if she had actually let him.
3. Now the tricky part... This is heavily implied that there was more going on than friendship and that Mi So may have been interested in Ha Eun in a romantic way. You see her being a bit surprised and somewhat unsettled by the fact that Ha Eun was seeing (interested in) someone (Jin Woo). Then you have the scene where Ha Eun admits to Mi So that she knew all along about her feelings but she chose not to say anything or do anything about it. At that moment you can tell that they also felt sad and "hated" each other at some points in their lives.
Now why is this tricky? Because what you described as "love and care in a way that has no name" actually has a name and that is the name of the movie. From there anyone can argue on what it actually means to have a soulmate (and the limits and boundaries of such relationship) and what it represents to them isn't necessarily what the original writer had in mind. If you ask me, they played on that very blurry line between friendship and romance throughout the movie and never really gave an answer on purpose. This might be confusing to the audience but not more than the actual "soulmate" word itself. What is said instead is that they had unconditional love for each other, regardless of the misunderstandings and tough situations, they always found each other back.
4. Based on the last scene with the mother we can assume that she is aware of her daughter's death. I don't think Mi So has any reason to hide the fact it's their granddaugther either, it's not mentioned as being a request from Ha Eun. It's a part that is left unanswered and while it does not really matter as it's not the point of the movie, I can understand the confusion and not being satisfied.
Nah. It is okay but nothing beyond that, at least for me. Depends how much you are able to connect with the characters…
Which shows do you find more wholesome out of curiosity? To me it clearly is one of the best out there. But like you said we don't all get affected the same way and not everyone can connect with these characters.
I rarely give 10s because nothing is perfect. Still this one made me go through so many emotions that it's hard for me not to give it a perfect score. It's everything I expect from dramas.
whoever told me this drama was just wholesomeness and funsies, you lieddd. I went in for some laughs .. and ended…
This drama definitely has a bit of everything. Many Kdramas do and I think they usually do that pretty well. This one is no exception and is probably one of the best of its genre.
it was an amazing drama definitely one of the best dramas of 2023 along with moving but i have one complain about…
While I wouldn't go as far as calling it a crime, I enjoyed her story the most which is what made the drama pretty unique. She did deserve more screentime and could have had more to her story.
It was one of the best dramas I saw, but definietly my favorite from 2023. Honestly, how can one not fall in love…
Huge fan of his work and can portray very different characters. I really hope to see him more often and in main roles too, the guy is so young but so good.
It's not because of other drama.. It's just this is not by any means a masterpiece... It's enjoyable but is it…
I disagree and think it's actually great and top of its genre. Not everything has to be unique and cliche when done right can be a good thing.
I find it very refreshing and well made with no major incoherences. It seems the majority seems to agree that it deserves to sit at a 9+ rating for now, for once I am part of this majority. Not sure which major flaws you've seen in there though.
moving is far superior, this drama is pure trash. people have no taste nowadays
Moving is not "far superior", they are very (very) different drama that will appeal to different people for different reasons. Both are very good and top picks for their genre, I would highly recommend both of them but I also know some people will dislike both.
Personally I enjoyed both dramas, but there were also some annoying parts in Moving and some odd decisions (like the pacing). Calling this one "pure trash" is so far from the truth and I couldn't disagree more.
It's kind of part of the character to appear annoying, but more accurately he is goofy and childish. He is a kid that grew up without his parents and focused on having fun.
That being said it's cleary the type of character that will polarize people, it's a hate it or love it type of character and there is nothing wrong with that.
Except for Min Jinwoong's wonderful acting, this show was terrible. TERRIBLE. The timeline was confusing, acting…
"I hated this. Waste of time" but you rated it a 7 out of 10 🤔
Plus it's not that surprising that you didn't understand what was going on if you were watching at 1.5x speed. If anything I would recommend to stop "wasting your time" watching things you dislike and focus on things you may like. It's a bit curious to spend so much time doing something you dislike/hate, and this time could be used to do or watch things you enjoy instead!
But that's quite normal, different people, different preferences. For me this drama was awesome, I loved it, and…
We all are biased so no worries and we don't watch content the same way which is fine too. But this is also why sharing opinions in the comments can add more to it. And this shouldn't necessarily change our preferences or opinion on a drama, but it can give a different perspective hehe
But that's quite normal, different people, different preferences. For me this drama was awesome, I loved it, and…
I agree that they are trying to send a message and it's not just a zombie show. On that I think they did well and it's not unusual for kdrama (Moving had a lot going on with the same FL as this one).
It is hard for me to believe in these characters if they keep taking dumb decisions that they wouldn't take in real life. Of course we all take dumb decisions at times, but this is way too much for me. They are supposed to represent society, but they feel the need to make them act dumber than anyone would just because they need to go to the next action scene.
It's not just cops doing dumb things, it's absolutely everyone too (educated people, not educated, officers). And it's not just once, it is all the time to justify why the next scene is happening. Another example, when the streamer is made aware of where his phone is (by the way he knew because he was holding it at that time) by the cashier (who was scared to death not too longer ago), then he makes her go outside. She has no reason to accept, you can even see the phone from the door in the scene so he can for sure see it (he already knew anyway). She goes outside they get the zombie in. Next scene you have them holding the door screaming with the zombie knocking, you see the religous guy and the second cop walking pretending they don't know what's going on (they are already aware of why they are stuck in this apt), instead of helping holding the door they just get super surprised.
The brother of who I believe was the writer woman, gets bitten after hidding and opening the door, turning to his sister and being like "see I told you it was safe", two minutes prior he was running from this corridor and hidding with his sister.
So there is stupidity everywhere and this is used to move the plot to the next event. Everytime I was entertained or interested in the social critic, they f up 5 minutes later. The issue for me is that I know why they take these dumb decisions, it is once again to move the story, but it's not well done because we as the audience can see the strings (if we pay attention to it that is). I am not asking for something super elaborating, but writers do not need to make their characters take the worst and dumbest decisions to justify the story. This is why I call this lazy.
This doesn't mean that it's not enjoyable or entertaining, but I love kdrama and I know for a fact that they can do better, they can hide the strings a lot better.
No worries, I didn't mean to make you feel bad about your opinion or taste. I just felt like sharing my views on the show since it's not the same. I enjoy interacting on the site also when I do not share the same opinion, as I feel we can all learn and grow up from it. But please know that it wasn't my intention to discredit your feelings, you can love whatever you want without having to justify it! It was fun debating, at least for me :)
But that's quite normal, different people, different preferences. For me this drama was awesome, I loved it, and…
A lot of people loving it doesn't make it good, that just makes it popular. Is McDonald the best restaurant in the world? It sure does make the most money and gather the most people. Can you now see that just because something is popular it doesn't necessarily means it's objectively good? The truth is that most people don't have high expectations. What makes a good story is good writing, compeling characters, realistic behaviors and situations within that world that was created. Here are a few examples to prove that the story did not make sense, feel free to share your views though: > FL approaching infected people while she was brought to the facility. She already knew it was risky and was advised not to do that. She is supposed to be a special agent (not sure if you are familiar with them but they have special training to deal with difficult situation). She was reckless throughout the drama anyway
> The ML, a detective is leaving the witness of a murder, with the murderer in the same apt after revealing to that same murderer that they had a witness and that she was the key to this case. The ML is supposed to be a top cop, he even has a nickname based on that ability. Let's just say that no cops in their right mind would leave a witness of a murder live in the same house/apt, this does not make any sense no matter how you look at it. By the way, they were two cops at this point, I suppose they must be the most incompetent PD of this part of Korea but who knows.
> The detective after deciding to leave the murderer roaming free, is stuck outside the building (when they went grocery shopping) because of this same mastermind (this is ironic btw) murderer. His reaction was to scare the murderer while he tried to kill them by keeping the doors closed and alerting the infected with his phone. He scared him by using blood pretending he knew he (the murderer) wouldn't get infected (he could have). At this point you would expect the top cop to cuff that mastermind murderer so he can stop doing some weird ass stuff. Nope, let's just give him another pass so he can plan something else and this leads to the gym situation where he again tries to "scare" the murderer (while he couldn't have been scratched or bitten), but still not cuff.
> Voting to keep an infected inside for no good reason, others outside are infected too but shouldn't be kept inside for reasons (?!) and we shouldn't kick this kid out for reasons (?!). But hey, let's bring the paranoid guy living on his own and scare of everything to vote for this infected to stay in the building (he showed up at the perfect time btw nice)
I could go on but then it could take a while. The point is that these situations do not make sense because they are not approprite for the type of characters that were written. The only reason for characters to behave this way is because of poor writing, and they needed to make the main characters take dumb decisions to move the plot. This is how you can spot bad writing by the way, when there is just no attempt (or lazy attempt would be more appropriate) to keep the viewer invested and the story believable. Now maybe it didn't bother you because you don't know much about CDC, special agents, etc. But the reality is that it cannot make sense if you do. It's ok to like something that isn't particularly good or well written, we all do. But trying to say that it was good because "people loved it" isn't the best argument.
I was never implying you specifically had low standards, read my message again and you will see the difference. This was more of a general statement (and I was talking about expectations too). I didn't hate the drama and I never said I did either, I actually enjoyed parts of it and felt like it had some really interesting ideas and characters. Critical thinking is important even in content consumption. Praising mediocrity will just lead to more mediocrity and poor writing. Maybe it's enough for the majority, it sure isn't for me. Does that mean that you cannot love this drama? It doesn't and I can't force people to develop critical thinking or to have higher standards. But just like it's your right to voice your opinion, it is my right to voice mine and share my observations. This wasn't personal by the way so I hope you don't take it that way ;)
We will see, I will update my comment whenever I am done with the show.
